Live in Infamy Page 26

by Caroline Tung Richmond

Many thanks to the staff at Scholastic who are basically the kindest and most talented people on earth. I’m incredibly thankful for the Book Fair and Book Club teams in particular who have been so supportive of my novels. I also must give a tip of the hat to Phil Falco, who designed the cover for both Live in Infamy and The Only Thing to Fear. You’re amazing, Phil!

As a mom, I simply couldn’t have finished this book without my wonderful childcare providers. To Lorena Aziz, thank you for welcoming my daughter into your home and treating her like your own. To the teachers at the Bluemont Community Center, thank you for always greeting my girl with a smile, for kissing her ouchies, and for surrounding her with love while I finished this book.

To Amanda Fein and Allison Young, thank you for always being there for me since our days at Herbert Hoover Middle School. I’m lucky to have such inspiring, smart, and hilarious best friends. To my little sister, Kristy Tung, thank you for making me laugh, for cheering me on, and for regaling me with Game of Thrones plot theories. You’re the best sister ever.

Lastly, I owe my biggest thank-you to my family. My mother-in-law, Donna Richmond, provided countless hours of childcare so that I could write and revise and then revise some more. My husband, Justin Richmond, has long been the patron saint of my writing career and the very best friend that I could ever ask for — I love you very much. And to my daughter, Aimee Rose — light of my life, destroyer of my sleep — thank you for bringing me such joy, even when you’re refusing to brush your teeth or hair. My dearest girl, it is an honor to be your mom.

CAROLINE TUNG RICHMOND is the author of the alternative history novel The Only Thing to Fear (a companion to Live in Infamy), and the historical fiction novel The Darkest Hour.

A self-proclaimed history nerd and cookie connoisseur, Caroline lives in Virginia, with her family and their dog, Otto von Bismarck — named for the German chancellor (naturally).
