About the Author
Wendy Dudley, an Ontario-born writer, artist, and media consultant, has called Alberta home since 1977. Bestowed with an avid curiosity about life, she spent 15 years as a reporter with the Calgary Herald, covering Native affairs, country music, rural issues, and western heritage.
Wendy now works from her home in the Alberta foothills, where she lives with her mother, a mule, two donkeys, two dogs, and a varying number of barn cats. She has written and narrated stories about her life in the high country for CBC Radio; her writing also appears in several publications, including the Western Producer, Alberta Crops and Beef, AlbertaViews, Legacy, and EnviroLine. Practising what she preaches, Wendy believes that people should enjoy life, that peaceful retreats are as much cerebral as they are physical, and that everyone has a homeplace— they just need to discover where it is.
