Vows of Honor: Secrets of Scarlett Hall Book 6 Page 22

by Jennifer Monroe

  Eleanor,

Perhaps in the battle over Amelia you have bested me. Emmaline sits in my rightful place, and your son will soon inherit what should be mine. Do not worry, for I will not make any attempts to take back what has been stolen from me. Instead, I shall continue to listen to the stories concerning you.

Eleanor frowned. Stories concerning her? The man was madder than she could have ever realized. It was good she decided to read his correspondence.

You see, I have made a new friend, a man who has told me much about you. Sadly, we cannot share these tales over a mug of ale, for the man is in prison.

Eleanor’s heart skipped a beat. Did he speak of Robert Mullins, Juliet’s father? She prayed not!

Over the last few months, the man has told me enough to hurt you and the daughter you raised as your own. Therefore, Eleanor, prepare yourself, for my anger toward you is not yet extinguished. In fact, I have nothing left to be taken from me, so anything you say about me cannot do me any harm.

I will have my revenge. Know this. As you read this letter, know that your precious Juliet will soon inform you of a heartbreak you cannot repair!

The letter fluttered to the ground as Eleanor fought against the panic that attempted to overtake her. Was Juliet safe? Had Josiah already reached out to her? Or was he merely trying to scare Eleanor?

“Forbes,” she whispered. Then she turned, gathered her skirts in her hands, and ran toward the house, a chill racing through her body as a foreboding settled on her shoulders. “Forbes!”

Now we learn more about Amelia Parker, daughter of Eleanor’s sister, who we met briefly in Silent Dreams.

More secrets are revealed in the next installment of the Secrets of Scarlett Hall Series, when we see the return of Juliet to Scarlett Hall.
