“You lycan, you seem weak. What’s the matter?” Argem said laughing. That damn hunter will hurt Tae. I couldn’t let that happen!

“Tae, no!” I screamed, watching Argem dig his fist into his chest. “Tae!” I screamed louder. With such anger in me, I looked at Argem and screamed once more. “As the last watcher, I will not let a hunter hurt the lycan! He has protected me all his life, and you will not take his life!” I now started feeling a shake run through my body. I got filled with more and more anger. I now couldn’t see as clear as before. All that was running through my head was Tae getting hurt. My eyes were now filled with a blur, as if I was crying. Taking a deep breath, I got the urge to scream again. “Hunter, you will pay!” I yelled, releases all the anger and pain I had within in, right towards him. It was like a beam of lighting that went through my hands, and hit Argem straight in the chest. He flew backwards, and hit the wall. I saw him falling, hitting the floor without any movement. What did I just do? Did I just kill him? That’s not what I wanted to do, but I couldn’t pay attention to him. All I heard was Tae screaming in pain. I saw him covered in blood as he slowly turned back into the Tae I knew. I quickly ran over to him and fell on my kneed.

“Oh Tae, This can’t happen. I will not see you go because of me. What can I do?” I cried to him. He knew I couldn’t do anything. All he did now was lay and watch me as my eyes were filled with tears.

“Oh Amabel. My love. Don’t you worry about a thing.” He said, slowly closing his eyes.

“No, Tae, please no.” I said. This couldn’t happen. I held his head in my lap, continuing crying. I closed my eyes, putting one hand on his wound to try to stop the bleeding. “Tae, oh how I love you. You can’t leave me right now. I need you so much.” I said softly, continuing to cry. All I could think about is not seeing his face every day. I pictured us the night in his room, and it was so amazing. I didn’t want to possibly imagine that I will never feel his touch again. With all the energy I had within in, I pushed on his wound. I could feel a warm vibration running though my arm. Before I could open my eyes to see what was going on. Darkness overtook me.

I woke up with the sun in my eyes. As I looked outside, it has never been so beautiful. Besides the snowy background, I could see green. The trees wanted to finally flourish from the winter. Spring time was finally coming. I looked around to see where I was, and realized I was in Tae’s house. It beat being back in the jail cell. Wait, how did I get to Tae’s house?

“Tae?” I asked. Looking around for him.

“Amabel!” He screamed running from the bathroom. “Oh Amabel you’re back! You’ve came back to me!” He screamed.

  “What do you mean?”

“You’ve been sleeping for weeks! I lost track of time. Your mom has come visited you every day. She’s tried talking to you and you wouldn’t wake up. Oh how I’ve missed you!” he screamed, running to me and hugging me.

“I’m happy to see you too Tae. You’re okay? I don’t remember anything that happened. I just passed out.”

“I know sweetie. You saved me. I felt warm in my chest, and I got my breath back. When I looked up at you, you were already gone. This took so much energy out of you that your body couldn’t take it. I can’t believe you saved me Amabel. This is the true abilities of the last watcher. You have so much more undiscovered ones. We will practice them soon I promise you.”

“What about Argem? Did I kill him?”

“No, I don’t think you killed him. What you did to him was hit him without touching him. You used any electricity in the building and hit him with it. That’s another thing you have discovered. I’m not sure how you did any of it. But you did. You got us out of there alive. I am so grateful for you.

“You are grateful for me? Tae, you watched me all your life. I knew you were weak because you’ve been trying to find me the whole time I turned our connection off. But you found me Tae. You saved me.”

“Oh Amabel. My love. Everything will be okay now. No one will touch you again I promise you that.” Tae told me. I knew now that he won’t leave my side. I kind of liked the thought of that. “You need all the protection I can give you.” He added.

“Tae, I know you will. I know.” I said. Laying back in bed trying to relax a little bit more. “Do you know where Kierce is?” I asked.

“He came by here a few days ago. Apologizing for not letting me know. He told me his father wouldn’t let him go anywhere since they already had you. He also told me that they’re furious now, and won’t be satisfied until they get you. Kierce is no use to them now, so for as long as he can, he’ll try to tell us his father’s actions. As of now, they’re building an army, and coming to get you. They don’t know how many people are actually protecting you.”

“They don’t know? How many are actually protecting me though? Isn’t it just you, and well, Kierce.”

“Yes, but there may be much more. I don’t know any of that because I have only focused on you. No one has come to me about you before. Therefore, I’m as lost just like you.”

“Well, for being the last watcher, I guess there may be people who we don’t even know looking over me. If there are though. Why didn’t they come and save me?”

“I’m pretty sure they knew you were in no danger yet. I’m assuming they’ll come if anything big happens.”

“Well I hope so. Because I don’t think the three of us can just fight a whole army of hunters off.”

“Yes, you’re right. But we can damn well try it.” Tae said. Knowing that next time he’ll be a lot more prepared, as well as me.

  Chapter Nine – Enhanced

I have stayed at Tae’s for a few more days until I decided I needed to go home to my mother and father to tell them I need to hide. I’m pretty sure the hunters won’t come after them, but to be safe, they need to hide as well. I got fully dresses with the clothes that Tae has brought to me and headed to my see my parents. Tae of course came with me. I loved seeing the familiar streets and houses, especially mine. I missed the coziness and the faint smell of cinnamon.

“Mother, father, are you guys home?” I asked as I opened the front door.

“Sweetie! Oh my Amabel! I’ve been worried sick! Don’t you do that to us!”

  “Mother, we need to talk.”

“Yes of course, but first get your coat off so you can eat. You look like you haven’t eaten in weeks!” She said. She was right now. I haven’t eaten in too long.

“That sounds good.” I said, as I sat down to eat some hash browns with eggs. My father’s favorite thing to cook was definitely breakfast.

“So what did you want to talk to me about?” My mother asked.

“Well, as you know. I got kidnapped by the hunters. Tae helped me escape and now they’re pissed. They will come for me again one day. Probably soon. I need you guys to hide, as well as me. For now I will stay at Tae’s house. It’s in the woods and not really known by many people. You guys need to go out of Alaska until it’s safe.”

“No, I’m not leaving you Amabel!”

“Mother, you have to! You’re not a watcher like my real father was. You can’t protect yourself or me. You need to leave with dad, well, Richard. You guys need to get out of here and soon! I will contact you whenever I can to keep you guys updated.” I told her.

“Well, I suppose you’re right. Please be careful, and call me all the time sweetie. I’ll miss you.” My mother said, with tears rising in her eyes. I knew this hurt her but it was the right thing to do. I didn’t want them hurt or worse, killed.

“Yes mother, I am right. I’m going to grab a few more things form upstairs, as well as Tae’s and we’ll be off. Don’t tell us where you’re going. I don’t want a chance for any hunters to find out where you are. I don’t know the powers they have. My luck, one of them will read minds or seek memories.”

“Well, okay. You go then. Please be safe.” My mother said, getting up and coming towards me to hug me. She held me tight few a few minutes and finally let me go. As s
he did, I ran upstairs to grab a few clothes for me and Tae and was ready to leave.

“I’ll miss you mom.” I told her. Now feeling her pain of me leaving.

“I’ll miss you too sweetie, I love you. Be safe.” She said. Hugging me once more and sending me off on my way. I wasn’t too happy to leave my house. This was my home. I got used to it and in a way liked it better than the one we lived in Massachusetts. It needed to be done though.

Tae and I walked back to his house, before we went back in. tae stopped.

“What’s the matter Tae?” I asked. He looked at me, took the bags out of my hand and slowly came closer. He put me into his arms, and nothing else mattered right now. I felt so safe in his strong arms that I didn’t want to be anywhere else.

“I love you Amabel.” He told me. I looked up at him, sending the words back through my eyes. He leaned in towards me, and kissed me passionately. “Get some more rest. Tomorrow we will practice.” He said. I went inside the house, and laid down comfortably on the bed. This was the first time my mind wasn’t running with a thousand words. It was relaxed, as well as I was. I could picture my first kiss with Kierce, and it was nothing compared to what I had with Tae. He was so special to me, I couldn’t bear to think I almost lost him. I wonder how I managed to save his life. All I remember is losing him, and I started feeling so much pain. It’s incredible thinking I did such a thing, I just wish I knew how.

The next day came quick, and Tae was ready to practice with me. I didn’t know how he was going to help me, but I trusted him

“You ready sleepy head?” He said to me, seeing my eyes open.

“Ehh, yeah, I guess.” I told him.

“Well get up, get some food in your stomach and lets go.”

  “Where are we going?”

“Well we’re not going to practice in the house. For all I know, you can destroy it with a simple thought.” He said laughing.

“Very funny, so where are we going to do this anyways?”

“I’m just thinking a little deeper into the woods, so no one hears or sees us. I know the perfect place.” He said. I nodded and started getting out of bed. Before I could fully get up, Tae came over to me and threw his arms around me.

“Amabel, you mean so much to me. You have no idea. You are everything I have imagined as I watched you grow up.” He said to me. I started feeling butterflies in my stomach. It suddenly dropped and I felt my heartbeat get faster. “Your heart liked my words.” He said. I looked up at him smiling. “Thank you for being in my life.”

“You’re not the one that needs to thank me. You are everything to be Tae. Before you came into my life, without you…. I felt… so alone. I felt something missing and didn’t know what.”

“Amabel, you complete me. You are my whole reason for living. I have never known anyone but you and I never will. I don’t want another woman in my life. You are my savor, and I hope one day you decide to bond with me.”

“Tae, I wouldn’t want it any other way, but you know I can’t just leave Kierce like that. It will hurt him too much. Not that I’m with him, but I just want to make everyone happy. I don’t want my parents worrying anymore and I don’t want Kierce hurt from me or his father. I don’t want him trying to help me and disobeying his father. Family is everything to me and it must be to him. I don’t want to take that away from him Tae.” I said starting to get tears in my eyes. I felt myself want to break down but I knew I couldn’t. I had a lot coming and I needed to get prepared, not cry on the side. “And you. I don’t want to hurt you if I don’t choose to bond with you. I’m so afraid of commitment. If I bond with you, and I lose in you some way. That will be the end of me.”

“No, you must not talk like that Amabel. If you do not chose to bond with me, I will forever love you. I will never leave your side. Don’t you worry about my feelings when you have to worry about yours. Do what’s right for you, not others.” He said. I knew he wanted me to be happy, but I couldn’t possibly be if I hurt anyone I loved.

“We should go now. I’m not that hungry.” I told him, trying to change the subject before I completely lose control of my tears.

“Alright, let’s go.” He said. We walked outside, and I followed him through the woods to where he was leading me. We walked for less than an hour and came out to a field. It was kind of nice here. Not much snow on the ground but grass. The sun was shining of the snow that there was and it made the place look magical.

  “I love it here.”

“Good, I knew you would. Now let’s get started.

  “Okay, what’s first?” I asked.

“First, you need to concentrate on trying to contact me. You need to learn how to turn it off and on. Now, close your eyes, and think of the person you want to contact. Which is me in this case.” He said. I did as he said, and tried to focus on Tae’s face. Tae, can you hear me? I asked him in my head. Nothing.

“It’s not working Tae. I tried focusing on you and you didn’t hear me.

“Try again. It might not be easy at first. With time, you will easily just think of me and I will hear you. Now put all your energy to it. It won’t drain you yet, only because it’s a small ability that you have, but you need to try.” I did as he said, and put all of my energy towards it. All I thought about was Tae and how I wanted to reach him. Tae, you are all I’m thinking about right now. Nothing.

“No, it’s not working. You didn’t answer me.”

“Keep trying. The more you try, the easier it will get. This time, try concentrating on talking to me in general. Try to open the communication. You might have turned it off beforehand.” So I did as he said. I focused on contacting him even harder. I could feel the energy going towards him, and suddenly felt an open mind. Hoping it worked, I tried again. Tae, I love your touch. I thought in my mind, hoping it didn’t work again. My touches are always filled with love. He heard me. I opened my eyes and noticed him looking at me with a huge smile. Well, that’s one of my confessions. I thought. Laughing in the back. Very good, now try turning it off again. Break the connection between us. He told me. I’ll try. I said, and put my energy towards breaking the connection. I thought of how I no longer wanted to hear him. I don’t know if that worked. I heard no answer.

“I think it worked. Did you hear me?” I asked.

“Nope, you did good. Well that’s step one. Good job beautiful.” He told me, and my face suddenly shined. He noticed. “Now, I don’t want you drained just yet, so let’s move on. We’ll repeat everything tomorrow again, so we don’t have to spend too much time on each thing now.”

  “Okay, so what’s next?”

“Hmm, well let’s see. When you were trapped in that factory, I couldn’t feel where you were until I was finally able to connect with you. That means you can turn your position off and on as well. I will walk across the field, and close my eyes. You will need to focus on how to turn your connection on with me again and I will see if I can feel you.” He walked across the field, and as he said, closed his eyes. I moved to a different position and closed my eyes as well. I put all my energy towards letting Tae know where I was exactly. I opened my eyes to see if it worked, and it did. He was walking right towards me with his eyes closed. For me to know if this really worked, I walked more towards the right so he wouldn’t be walking towards me. I noticed he changed his direction, and again, was walking right at me. He reached me by bumping into me, and he laughed at the sight of me falling on the ground.

“Ha ha, you’re so funny!” I told him, also laughing. He helped me up, and hugged me tightly. I was starting to think he either was getting ready for something and wanted to hold me as much as he could, or he just missed me way too much. Either way, I enjoyed it.

“You’re doing good. I felt you quickly, even when you changed your position. Now, let’s see what else we can test.” He said, looking like he was thinking kind of hard. “I think we need Kierce to help us. He’s the only hunter we’re friends with, and probably the only way you can fully enhance your
abilities.”

“How are we going to get him here though?” I asked.

“Try concentrating on him, and see if he’s able to answer you, or even come here.” I did as he said. I closed my eyes and tried concentrating on Kierce. I thought of our first kiss and the beautiful glaciers I saw for the first time. Kierce, can you hear me? It’s Amabel. I need your help. I got no answer.

  “No Tae, it’s not working.”

“Okay, well, maybe it’s not as easy as we thought. That’s alright. We can practice some other things. For example, I remember you shot out a bold of energy at Argem. Do you remember what went through your head when you did that?

“Yeah, I remember thinking he killed you and I wanted to rip him apart. I felt a sudden urge of anger and tremble in my body. So I put my hands out like I wanted to hurt him, and sent the bold out. I also know all the lights went out in the room we were in. You think I used the electricity?”

“Yes, that could actually be why. We need to practice you sending out those bolts without you getting completely angry though. So, I have my phone. It doesn’t have as much energy as the lights, so it won’t be as big of a bolt, but it’ll still be something. Try to focus on feeding on the energy off the phone and letting it go through your body, out of your arms.” I listened to him and did what he said. I took his phone and tried sucking up all the energy out of it. I failed. I didn’t feel the same time of shock as I did when I was angry.

“Tae, I can’t. I can’t get a hold of the energy in it.”

“Well, I was hoping I wouldn’t have to do this.” He took out a little switch blade out of his pocket, and cut his arm quickly. I saw the blood dripping down to the ground and got a sudden feeling of anger and pain. I was angry that he did. I now felt the energy from the phone sucking into my body. The more I got angry, the more the energy came to me. I felt it travel thought my body and with my body trembling, I put out my arms, and a small bolt came out of my hands, into the field. It worked.
