My Other Baby Mama Box Set Page 15

“What you mean by that, A?”

“Nothin’ girl. Nothin’ at all. I’m about to get on outta here. I got some shit to handle. Take care of the lil’ one and take it easy on the booga suga,” she laughed as she got up and left out the house.

Baylynn couldn’t help but to feel some type of way about her friends’ remarks and demeanor after she left her house. They agreed that they were going to keep the slick comment to themselves and to respect each other but Baylynn had a feeling that Amelia was back on her bullshit again.

After playing with Brandi, she made her daughter some lunch before giving Brandi her sippy cup and putting her in the pack and play. Once her baby girl was settled, Baylynn ran up the stairs to get her cell phone and went back downstairs. She sat down on the couch and saw that she had five missed calls from a number she didn’t recognize. Her phone began to ring in her hand and she answered immediately.

When the jail prompt began, she knew it was Manny calling but the jail he was calling from was the Montgomery Country Correctional Facility. When the prompt asked her to press five to talk, she did and Manny’s voice came through the phone seconds later.

“Yo, why the fuck you ain’t answerin’ ya phone? You mad at me or somethin’?”

“No, baby. I’m not mad at you. My best friend came by and we were talkin’ downstairs and I left my phone in my room. I’m sorry. Wassup though?”

“Man, I’m straight. I got kicked out of the last jail I was in because a fight broke out between the C/O’s and inmates and they think I started that shit. So, they moved me here,” Manny explained.

“How the hell you managed to get kicked out of prison, Manny?” she chuckled.

“I’m not gonna get into that but shit happens, love. Anyway, how are my girls doin’?”

“We’re good. I’m about to enroll Brandi in daycare so she can be around kids her age and learn somethin’.”

  “That’s good. I think she’ll enjoy that.”

“I think so too. How have you been?”

“I’ve been good. My cousin in here with me and he told me he got locked up on some bullshit. He said his ex bitch set him up and he got everybody in the hood lookin’ for her ass. That’s some shady shit for real.”

Baylynn’s heart dropped to her feet as she listened to Manny talk. She didn’t want to believe that Manny was talking about Ramsey but she asked to make sure.

  “Who is your cousin?”

“His name is Ramsey Miller. We used to do business together. Have you heard of him?”

“Yeah, I heard of him. I don’t know him though,” she lied.

“Bay, I’m about to go but do me a favor. If you hear anythin’ about the chick that set up my cousin, let me know. Aight?”

  “I got you.”

  “Ima call you later.”

Manny ended the call and it felt like she was frozen in time. Baylynn couldn’t believe what she just learned from her baby father. She jumped up from the couch and paced the floor as she thought about the situation she had gotten herself into. She would have never thought that her ex nigga and her baby daddy were cousins and were prisoned at the same jail. Her plan had back fired tremendously and the stress of the situation was too much for her handle. Baylynn flopped down on the couch and opened the drawer to the coffee table pulling out a little mirror, coke, and a rolled up one-dollar bill. She used a razor to evenly separate the cocaine into three lines before using the one-dollar bill to snort them. The substance took effect instantly and took her to a place where she would forget her problems. Even if it was only for a couple of hours.

Ramsey had been locked up for three weeks and that shit already felt like an eternity. When he arrived at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, they checked him and the other inmates to make sure they didn’t have any kind of drugs or weapons on them. Once he was dressed in his orange jumpsuit, he was given his things for his cot along with a few other items. As him and the other inmates walked down the cell block to their cells, Ramsey recognized a few faces from when they were out on the streets. Once he was in his cell, he made his bed and put his things away and observed his new environment for the rest of the day.

After two weeks of observing and waiting for his paperwork to go through for his phone time and visits, Ramsey got a feel for the prison and figured out who was who, which was something he needed to know for the moves he planned on making and when his cousin Manny was placed on the same cell block as him, that just made things even better. After he informed his cousin of why he was in jail, Manny vowed to help him catch the bitch that put him in there.

Ramsey was playing chess with one of the inmates on his block when C/O Baxter a.k.a Isaiah, a friend of Randall’s, came to his cell with a handful of mail in his hands.

“Yo, Rams, you got a stack of mail here man.” He handed over the mail.

“Damn, man. I’ve only been in this bitch for three weeks. How the fuck I got all this mail already?” He examined the mail he was holding.

“They told me that you’ve been gettin’ mail since the first week you’ve been in here. Ya peoples love you man.”

“I hear that but this is just the beginnin’ of the journey. Let’s see if I’m gonna still be gettin’ stacks of mail like this if shit don’t go right at this hearin’.” Ramsey sat the mail next to him.

“I hear that. Listen, if you need me to go see ya brother before the weekend let me know because I won’t be here. This my weekend off and you should be able to make phone calls on Monday.”

“Say no more and thanks for makin’ that move for me to get all my peoples number and shit. I appreciate it.”

“No problem, bro. Thank you for the payment,” Isaiah chuckled.

After beating his chess partner three times in a row, Ramsey kicked him out his cell and flipped through his mail. He tried to his best to hide his smile but he couldn’t help it. Seeing all the letters from his mom, sister and Cashmere brought it out of him. He separated the letters from each person before he opened one of the six letters that Cashmere sent him. Pulling the paper out of the envelope, more than a dozen pictures fell from the paper. Ramsey laid back on his bunk, moved the pictures to the side and read the letter.

  Hey Ramsey,

I know it’s going to take you a minute to get this letter but I just had to write you and let you know how much I love you and miss you. I’m pissed that the judge denied you bail and that you have to sit in jail until your hearing but I’m even more pissed off at the reason why you’re in there. I hate that you’re not out here with me but I have a feeling that you will be home soon. I know we’re supposed to be starting over with our relationship and even though I wish you were home so we could continue to work on us, I guess we’ll have to work on our relationship while you’re in there. I love you so much, baby and I can’t wait to hear your voice again.

  Sincerely.

  Cashmere

Ramsey folded the letter back up and placed it back in the envelope. He picked up the pictures and looked at them. The pictures of Cash, Cassi and their family pictures provided him with a way to escape reality for a minute. He smiled as he reminisced and continued to look through the pictures.

“Wassup cuz, What the hell you lookin’ at that got you cheesin’ like that?” Manny stood in cell way.

“Lookin’ at pictures of my baby mama and daughter, man.” Ramsey sat up and sat on the edge of the bunk.

“Oh yeah? Let me look at those so I can see where ya taste is at?”

Ramsey handed him a couple of pictures that Cashmere and Cassi took together and another one of Cashmere by herself.

“Damn Rams! Ya baby mama fine as fuck man and ya lil girl is adorable. She kinda look like you.”

  “Yeah, I know,” he gloated.

“I know this ain’t ya ex so this gotta be the other baby mama.” Manny handed him the pictures back.

“Yup but she ain’t the other baby mama no more. She’s my only baby mama now.”

>   “Stop lyin’!”

“I’m serious. Before I broke up with my main chick, she told me that the baby wasn’t mine and I kicked her out of my house.”

“That’s fucked up on so many levels, cuz. Aye, you never told me what your ex’s name is. I told my shawty to let me know is she hears somethin’ about ya ex.”

“That bitch’s name is Baylynn Hansberry, man.”

  “Baylynn Hansberry?”

  “Yup.”

Ramsey didn’t realize that his cousin had zoned out when he gave him Baylynn’s name.

  “Yo cuz. You aight?”

“Huh? Oh yeah. Yeah, I’m good. I gotta make some moves right quick and I’ll catch up with you later.”

  “Cool.”

Ramsey wondered why his cousin took off the way he did but he decided not to feed into it. He laid back down on his bed and read the rest of Cashmere’s letters before he taped the pictures she sent him on his wall. He was in a cell by himself so he didn’t have to worry about anyone messing with his shit. After Ramsey finished hanging up the pictures, he put the rest of his mail away and decided to read them later.

He felt good that his family was riding with him and he knew that they wouldn’t leave him stranded but the person he was worried about was Cashmere. Ramsey had no reason to doubt her before but when it came to him doing this bid, he was worried like a motherfucker. He knew how females were when it came to holding a nigga down while he was jail. Most chicks didn’t want to stick around while other chicks start off riding and then get tired of being that ride or die chick. Ramsey wanted Cashmere to stand by him through his bid or however long he had to stay in there but if she wanted to walk away and do her, he wasn’t sure if he would be able to handle that. His love for Cashmere grew deeper every day and it’s been growing since the first day he laid eyes on her. Ramsey never thought that he would be the nigga to settle down and get married but if Cashmere stood by him in his time of need, when he was released, he would no doubt make her his wife.

The sound of Amelia’s ringing phone annoyed her as she tried to relax and in the hot bubble bath she had prepared. She wasn’t in the tub for five minutes before the incoming call interrupted her relaxation. Drying her hands off with a nearby towel, she picked up her phone and saw it was Nick calling. Amelia answered before the ringing could stop.

  “Wassup Nick.”

“A lot but I’m dealin’ with it. Have you heard from Baylynn?”

“I called her the other day and she finally decided to answer. Long story short, I think that bitch guiltier than a motherfucka.”

  “What you find out?”

“Baylynn said that it was Ramsey fault that he got locked up because he had drugs in his house. I asked her how did she know that and she started stutterin’ and shit. If she didn’t set that nigga up then how would she know that?”

“Did you find out her location yet.”

“Naw. She’s bein’ real distant and shit, Nick. Every time I ask where she lives at, she changes the subject. Sorry,” Amelia lied.

“Stay on her, aight and keep me posted. I’ll be by to see you soon.”

  “Okay, baby,” she responded sweetly.

  “Aight. Later.”

Amelia placed her phone on the mat and went back to soaking in the tub. She didn’t care that she lied to Nick about Baylynn’s whereabouts. Knowing that her days were numbered anyway, Amelia figured that she could get whatever she wanted out of Baylynn before she gave Nick her location. After seeing how much money Baylynn had, she figured she would blackmail her friend with her new-found information. Amelia knew that Baylynn was lying the minute she mentioned the drugs being at Ramsey’s house. She was her only link to what was going on in Philly and the fact that she knew about what was going on with Ramsey was a dead giveaway she had something to do with Ramsey’s arrest. Baylynn was Amelia’s ticket out of Philly and she was going to take her for everything she had.

When she was finished in the tub, Amelia wrapped her towel around her, grabbed her phone and walked into her room. She flopped down on her bed and dried off before she grabbed one of her many night shirts from her drawer. She was about to leave her room when her phone began to ring on her nightstand. Letting out a sigh of frustration, she marched back over to the nightstand to see who was calling her. She smiled when she saw it was Benjamin.

“Hey Boo. I haven’t heard from you in a while. How have you been?” she answered with a smile.

“I’ve been thinkin’ about all the ways I want to kill ya ass, Amelia.”

“What the fuck did you just say?”

“You heard me. I know you be fuckin’ other niggas and shit but I would’ve never thought you would fuck my boy. You’re the true definition of a thot yo and the crazy thing is, you don’t have an ounce of remorse about the shit,” his voice boomed through the phone.

“Nigga, if you don’t go somewhere with that bullshit. You knew what type of bitch I was when you met me and you also knew that I didn’t have any picks. Anybody can fuckin’ get it if the price is right. What? You thought you were special or some shit or did you think just because Nysir was fuckin’ my friend that he was off limits?” Amelia laughed.

“You’re really a heartless bitch.” Benjamin didn’t hide his anger.

“Yes, the fuck I am. If you still wanna fuck with me, then you need to let that shit go but if you can’t, get the fuck off my phone.”

There was silence for a few seconds before the call ended and Amelia just laughed some more. She knew it was only a matter of time before Benjamin found out that she fucked Nysir and she really didn’t give a fuck and if she had her way, she would fuck him again. After her phone call, she made herself a quick snack before climbing in the bed and catching up on her favorite reality shows. When the show went to commercial, she grabbed her second cell phone and shot Baylynn a text message.

I know what you did and if you want to stay alive, you will do what I say and give me what I ask for!

Amelia smiled as she waited for her friend to text back. A few minutes later, she received a text from Baylynn.

Bay: Who the fuck is this and what the fuck are you talking about?

Amelia: I know that you were the one who planted the drugs at Ramsey’s house and gave his name to the cops. You’re a bitter bitch and you will pay for what you did sooner or later. So, unless you want me to give up your location, you will do as I say

She knew that her text message had Baylynn shook and the fact that her friend was now snorting coke, Amelia hoped that she wouldn’t figure out that it was her. She didn’t want to give up too much information to give herself away but she hoped that her text was enough to scare Baylynn into doing whatever she wanted.

Minutes later, she received another text.

Bay: Okay. What do you want

Amelia: I’ll text you in a few days and you better answer

Amelia jumped up and started twerking. She knew it was only a matter of time before she got all the money she wanted to leave Philly. Of course, she could’ve just fucked for the money like she always did but she was having too much fun torturing her friend and she wasn’t going to stop until she destroyed her completely.

During the past few weeks, Cashmere couldn’t get Ramsey off her mind for the life of her. She thought about him on a constant basis which lead to her writing letters damn near every day. She found out his inmate number on inmate locator as well as the address to the facility and she had been sending letter ever since. Cashmere was aware that he wouldn’t get any of her letters right away but when he did, she wanted him to know that she hadn’t forgotten about him.

It was getting close to a month and she still hadn’t heard from Ramsey. Cashmere was starting to worry about him. She prayed that nothing was wrong but all she could do was wait for him to call or write her. Cashmere was happy that she had her bookstore to keep her busy otherwise she probably would have drove herself crazy worrying about the man that she lov
ed.

After a work filled weekend, Cashmere did not want to get out of bed at all when Monday morning came. As much as she would had liked to stay in bed, she couldn’t. She had to visit her grandmother later on that day. Cashmere sat up in her bed and stretched before getting out of bed to check on Cassi. Since her first birthday, her baby girl had been drinking whole milk, walking on her own and eating some table foods. Cassi was growing a little more every day and all Cashmere could think about was how Ramsey was missing out on the precious moments of their daughters’ life.

Cassi was peacefully sleeping in her crib. So, Cashmere walked backed to her room to pick out her clothes for the day. It was close to nine in the morning when her first phone call of the day came. She didn’t look at the phone before she answered and when she heard the recording on the other end telling her she had a collect call from Ramsey, her heart skipped a beat. Cashmere pressed the button to talk to her man and his voice came through her phone seconds later.

“Good mornin’, bae,” his raspy voice spoke.

“Good morning, baby! Oh, my goodness! You don’t know how good it feels to hear your voice again,” she beamed.

“Shit, who you tellin’? I’m glad they cut my phone time on when they did. I was about to lose my fuckin’ mind. I got ya letters and pictures so that help me out a lil’ bit. How are you doin’ though?”

“I’m trying my best not to stress myself out but I’m doing okay. Cassi is walking now and the little one in my stomach is healthy. I’ll be three months on Thursday but other than that, everything is cool, I guess.” Cash tried to hide the worry in her voice. “How are you doing?”

“I’m straight, bae. I got a few letters from my mom and Ryan and they told me that they got a lawyer lookin’ over things but unless they can get a full confession from Baylynn or some other form of proof, I’m gonna be stuck in here but I know y’all are gonna come through for me. So, I’m not even trippin’.”
