  “What did I do wrong?”

Seth downed his drink. “It wasn’t you. I needed some air and a chance to gather my thoughts without you in the mix.”

  “Why?”

  “I don’t think we’re what you need.”

“How do you know what I need?” Abby asked heatedly, her voice quivering with emotion. “I obviously didn’t please you. I think you’re the ones that think I’m not what you need.”

“You pleased us, Abigail. We don’t usually let a woman like you into our bed. Rod misjudged the situation.”

“I feel like you’re talking in riddles. What do you mean, a woman like me?” She couldn’t keep the anger she felt from her voice.

“We like to control and fuck a woman together and you’ll want more than that. And when you don’t get it, you’ll get hurt and angry. It won’t be pretty. We want to avoid that with you.”

Abby knew he was right. She would want more, but she would do anything to feel what she had felt with them again, even if it meant lying, which was something she didn’t like doing.

“I don’t want more. I have no desire to be some man’s girlfriend. All I want is to please you and your brothers and to feel your hands on me and…”—she lowered her voice—“your cocks inside of me…fucking me.”

Seth coughed, his startled eyes looking into hers. She knew he was taken aback by the coarseness of her words. She needed to convince him that she wasn’t some naïve little girl who had to be protected from them.

“Are you sure that’s what you want?” he asked, his voice low, his eyes going from surprise to dark and intense in a nanosecond.

“Yes. That’s all I want. When we’re tired of each of other, we’ll simply say good bye. I think we’re all adults here. Why can’t we take pleasure from one another without worrying about tomorrow?”

He studied her for a good minute. She felt her face reddening under his scrutinizing gaze. Did he know she was lying? She wished he would say something.

“Maybe I was wrong. Maybe we are exactly what you need. However, there is one more thing you should know before you commit to seeing us again.”

“And what’s that?” Abby asked, feeling hopeful.

“You know we like control, but you don’t know exactly how it figures into our play. This morning can’t happen again. I call the shots. You do what we say and when, at least while you’re with us. Otherwise, it won’t work.”

“I thought you liked this morning, that is until Rod interrupted us. Why did you leave?

“I left because for the first time in a long time I had vanilla sex.”

  “Vanilla sex?” she asked.

“Sex without any of the trappings of my need to dominate. It’s not what I like and Rod knows it. He was surprised, that’s all. It made us question you as a submissive and whether or not we wanted the same things.”

“I crave the kind of control I felt when Rod had me blindfolded and handcuffed to the bed. I know all three of you need my submission. It comes naturally to me.” At least that wasn’t a lie.

“Yes, I agree. What you did with us did seem to come naturally to you. But this morning was different.”

“I thought”—she knew she had to be honest, at least about this—“you didn’t want me the way your brothers did. I wanted you to want me. I had to prove to you that you wanted me or I thought you would convince them not to see me again.”

She looked away from him feeling the telltale blush creep into her cheeks that she knew she couldn’t control. She couldn’t control the tears that she felt seep from beneath her eyelids either. She didn’t know enough about them and their needs, and yet the thought of never being with them again was tearing her up inside. How could she want them so badly that she would humiliate herself like this? But God help her, she did.

“We need to control the woman we fuck. We reward and when necessary, we punish. We will spank, use toys, and even a flogger on occasion. Pleasure comes in many different forms…punishment being one of the tools that a submissive learns to understand.”

Abby raised her eyes to his mouth. His words were turning her on. She could feel her pussy throbbing. She wanted what he had just described, as long as it was with him and his brothers.

“Being with us isn’t something to be taken lightly. It’s not a game. There are rules. We’re just not sure you can follow those rules.”

  “And if I don’t agree?”

“Shit!” He pulled his phone from his pocket. “I have a text from Rod. I have to go.”

He threw some bills on the table and grabbed her hand. “We have to get back to New York tonight. I could be making a huge mistake, but if you want to, we could try this again.”

“I want it,” she said, and she meant it. She wanted it more than anything she had ever wanted in her life.

“One of us will call you during the week with instructions.”

  “Instructions?”

“You’ll come to New York on Friday night. You’ll stay with us until Sunday morning unless you wish to leave sooner.”

His eyes lowered, resting on her lips as he bent down and brushed them with his. Lifting his head, he smiled. “I told you there were rules. You’ll need to follow the instructions you’re given precisely. It will pleasure us for you to do so and also prove that you are serious about submitting to all our needs.”

“New York? This weekend? But what if I can’t…”

“If you don’t, I can assure you there will not be another invitation. The choice is yours.” He eyes went from hard to soft as he said softly, “I hope you make the right choice, Abigail.”

She watched him walk away. He excited her, intimidated her, and in the end, forced her to feel emotions she hadn’t known she possessed. He and his brothers had changed her and she knew if she went to New York this weekend there would be no going back.

She finished her orange juice before she decided to take a walk on the boardwalk. Jessica would still be sleeping and what she needed right now was to ease the tension that had her body strung so tight she felt like she could snap. She pushed open the heavy door leading to the boardwalk and breathed in the sea air. It immediately calmed her and helped her focus her thoughts. She was back in the game, only Seth had told her it was no game. It was real and going to New York this coming weekend would be her only chance to prove to them she wanted what they wanted.

Seth had been honest with her. They only wanted her submission and nothing more. For now that would have to be enough. Maybe she could convince them that they wanted more. But what did more really mean? She shivered in anticipation.

She would do whatever they demanded of her. The idea scared her because she was heading into unknown territory and yet she wanted this more than anything. Turning her face up toward the sun she smiled. Whatever next weekend brought, she was going to please them so well they would never want to let her go.

  Chapter Thirteen

When Abby entered the hotel room after a long walk up and down the boardwalk, Jessica was awake and watching television.

“Cool, you’re back. I’m starving. You want to order room service and begin the movie marathon?”

  “Okay.”

Jessica looked at her more closely. “Have you been crying?”

“No,” Abby lied. “The wind on the boardwalk made me tear up. It does that sometimes.”

Jessica looked like she was about to question her further, when Abby said, “Listen, I forget to tell you that I talked to Joanne about Chrissie. They did stop at an emergency room and Chrissie saw a doctor. She’s better and thankfully they didn’t have to keep her there.”

“She really was in bad shape. Damn. I bet she never does that again.”

“No. Don’t think she ever will. That kind of burn isn’t something anyone would ever forget.”

“So,” Jessica said, looking slightly uncomfortable, “You sorry we stayed?”

“Yes and no, if that makes sense.”

“It does. Thanks for staying wi
th me.”

“You don’t have to thank me. The truth is if I had really wanted to go, I would have regardless of anything you or Chrissy said.”

  “Maybe.”

“Look, I’m just going to wash my face,” Abby said, heading for the bathroom. “I’ll be out in a few minutes and we can decide what to order from room service. There’s nothing we can do now but enjoy the rest of our time here. I’m not going to dwell on the fact we stayed and didn’t go home.”

When she returned, Jessica seemed more like her old self. After a fun debate, they ended up ordering nachos with cheese and salsa. Abby’s favorite appetizer. Jessica also ordered a couple of large pizzas. She said they could eat them all night. They both agreed on no booze and just sodas. Neither of them had any interest in getting a buzz and certainly not getting drunk.

The first movie they watched was The Great Gatsby. Even though anything with Leonardo DiCaprio in it was usually good, she hadn’t watched it before because she knew it had a sad ending. However, Jessica had insisted. After that they watched Admission. She was glad for something comedic and Tina Fey was great. However, by the time they tuned in to the third movie, she was overly full of pizza and needed a break. Luckily, Jessica agreed.

“Let’s just talk,” Jessica suggested. “You tell me all about your guy and I’ll tell you all about mine. I’ll go first.”

Abby didn’t want to talk about her guy because she would actually be talking about three guys and she didn’t want to slip up. She wasn’t sure how she would explain something she wasn’t sure she understood herself. However, Jessica was already talking.

“Richard is like wonderful. Handsome, smart, and he’s got a great sense of humor. However, he’s a bit on the silent and brooding side. It makes for great sex.”

“You seem pretty taken with the sex part.” Abby smiled.

“Oh, yes. Very taken in ways I had no idea I could be taken.” She blushed.

“I’ve never seen you quite like this about a guy you just met.”

“I know, but I can’t help it. I’ve never felt such an attraction toward anyone like I do him. I mean, if he had wanted to see me today and tonight, I’d have been there.”

“He didn’t want to see you?”

“He had some stuff to do. He was vague and I didn’t want him to think I was falling for him and scare him off.

“I don’t think you need to worry about that. I’m sure he’s every bit as taken with you as you are with him.”

“I know he likes the sex since most of our time was spent in bed or wherever he wanted to have sex. You know the floor, the shower, and even on the beach.”

  “The beach!” Abby squealed.

“I know. He’s a bit of an exhibitionist. But it was so hot! No one saw us. At least I don’t think they did, but honestly the way I felt with him, I don’t think I would have cared.”

“When are you going to see him again?”

“He said he’d call me. He gave me his number too. So I don’t think it was just lip service, although…” She blushed again. “His lip service is something else.”

  “Jessica!” Abby laughed.

“Oh, and you didn’t get it every which way but loose? Come on. Spill the beans. I want to hear all about your Rod.”

“Sex was great. I did it in ways I never have before either. It was enlightening.” Abby smiled shyly.

“Enlightening? Sounds like you must have had a helluva orgasm. You really did let go. I’m happy for you. You always seem so uptight to me. Sorry. I didn’t mean to be insulting.”

“I guess that’s the way I come across. I’m not though. Don’t forget my purchases at the sex store. And after this weekend,” she said, her thoughts spilling from her lips, “I would say I’m anything but uptight.”

“Good. I think we should do this again. Come to Atlantic City. Maybe Rod could come back too. I mean, he’s not from around here is he?”

“No. He works in New York. He’s in business. Don’t ask me exactly what because I’m not sure. Like you, we didn’t spend a lot of time talking.”

This wasn’t as difficult as Abby had thought it would be. She wished she could really confide in Jessica. She was obviously open-minded, but this would be considered taboo by some people and not just because she had been with three men at the same time, but because of the control they needed to exert over her. And the fact that she had not only liked it, but was going back for more, was something she needed to explore further before she opened up to anyone.

Jessica laid her head down on her pillow. “I’m still kind of tired. I think I need a nap before the next movie. Sleeping in spurts does have its advantages.” She giggled at her own lewd joke.

Abby threw a pillow at her. “You’re awful!”

“Yup. That’s what happens when you have a man come inside you as much as that man did me.”

Jessica picked up the pillow and threw it back at her, daring her to throw it back.

By the time they had exhausted themselves with their impromptu pillow fight, they were both laughing and crying. It felt good. The anxiousness she had felt since she had spoken with Seth at the bar drained from her body.

She crawled into bed, too tired to do anything except curl up and close her eyes. Not only had she been physically stretched to her limit, but her mind was still trying to sort it all out. She had been on an emotional rollercoaster, first with Rod and then his brothers. She had a lot to learn if she was going to do what Seth had said would be required of her to please them. As sleep took over, she dreamed of what she hoped would be the beginning and not the end of what her heart told her she had been searching for ever since that night at the lake with Jamie.

  * * * *

When Abby walked into her parents’ house on Monday afternoon, they were both there to greet her. She looked at them surprised.

“Hi. Were you waiting for me?”

“Yes, we were,” her mother said. “Something has come up and we want to discuss it with you.”

  “This sounds serious.”

“It’s important,” her father answered. “Let’s talk in the kitchen. I could use a cup of coffee.”

This must be very serious, Abby thought, leaving her suitcase in the foyer. Her father rarely drank coffee except at breakfast.

When her mother had placed her father’s cup of coffee in front of him and they were all seated at the table, her mother cleared her throat.

“Your cousin Warren in Florida is opening up a restaurant. He needs people he can trust and your Aunt Ida thought of your father and me. They want us to come to Florida and live with them while we work for Warren.”

“Of course,” her father said, “we’ll get our own place after we sell the house and then you can come live with us too. Until then, you can stay here.”

Abby blinked. When had all this been decided? She glanced over at her mother whose eyes anxiously looked back at her.

“I know it’s rather sudden.” her mother said quickly. “But sometimes that’s just the way things happen.”

“I get that, but this isn’t something you’ve ever talked about it before. How long have you known about it?”

“Ida only called us yesterday. It’s not like we’ve been keeping it from you,” her mother said, her eyes flying to her husband’s for confirmation.

“It was a surprise to us too,” he said.

“And you decided that quickly. Wow! I guess the question is, when are you leaving?”

“They want us to fly down this coming weekend. I know that’s not much time,” her mother said, guilt written all over her face. “We’ll need you to take us to the airport Friday afternoon.”

“Sure. I’ll take you. You’re really going. I guess it’s a good opportunity.”

“It is,” her father said quickly. “Warren already has a restaurant in South Carolina. He wanted to open one near his parents so they could help oversee things, but at their age they need help and someone they can trust.”

  “So
you’re going to sell the house.”

“If everything goes as planned,” her father said, taking a deep breath. “We’ll have to in order to buy something there or even if we rent, we’ll need the money. I had hoped to leave this place to you, but if we don’t have more money coming in soon, it won’t matter.”

“You should have told me how bad things were.” Abby frowned.

“It was bad enough we used your college fund to pay bills. Of course, we don’t want to sell your home out from under you. But you’ll always have a home with us wherever we are.”

“I know that, Mom. But I’ve already been thinking about finding a better job myself. Waitressing was fine while I was in school, but I need something with a future and benefits.”

“I’m sure you could get a job working for Warren too. Aunt Ida mentioned it. We just wanted to see how it was going to work out for us before we uprooted you. This could be good for all of us,” her mother told her hopefully.

“Don’t worry about me. I want you to go. I really do. You and Dad need this.”

“We do, but I can’t help but worry about you. I don’t want you to feel like we’re deserting you.”

“I don’t feel that way, Mom. I think it’s time we all did what we need to do to be happy. I’m not saying I won’t move to Florida if you decide to stay. I’m just saying that I want to keep my options open for right now.”

“Of course, but moving to Florida could be a wonderful change for you. I really want you to consider moving if it works out for us.”

“For goodness’ sakes,” her father said in exasperation, looking at her mother. “Abby’s a grown woman and she can decide for herself what she wants to do. Let’s all just play this by ear. For all we know, we’ll be back here pronto. Nothing says working for Warren is the answer to our problems.”

“Okay,” her mother relented. “We’ll just see what happens.”

Abby pushed her chair back. As shocking as it was to hear, she knew they had to be desperate to even consider such a thing. Her heart went out to them. This had to be hard for them. She walked over to where her mother sat, looking as if she had just lost her best friend, and gave her a hug. She realized now she had been selfish to turn a blind eye to their financial worries. She should have gone out long before this and found a job that paid better than waitressing. She could have gone to school at night.
