Starting Over: The Broken Hearts Club Page 9

As the doors swung open, Cambry felt her breath catch.

All of her girls were standing there, dressed to the nines, smiling at her like she was their Christmas morning.

  “Surprise!”

  “What? I don’t understand?”

“That’s the amazing feat. I got all of your squad here on the same night. Nobody is missing, everyone is accounted for.”

“Honey… Thank you.” she said, leaning up to give him a kiss. She didn’t care who saw and from the hoots and hollers coming from the girls, they didn’t mind either.

Breaking the kiss, she turned to her girls and opened her arms. They all rushed in and started talking all at once.

“I can’t believe you guys came out here! It’s not even my birthday.”

“Oh, right. Like we would miss this,” Waverly said, shaking her head and pursing her lips at her.

  “Miss what?”

Cambry looked around to the ladies that were her soulmates as much as Evan was. They parted and she saw Evan down on one knee. He had a box in his hand that was shaped like a little shopping bag. He lifted the lid and inside was a ring that any woman would have been proud to wear. It was not too big and not too small. It was just right.

“Honey…” She was in total shock. The ladies around her were holding their breath and so was she.

“Cambry Sinclair, you know all the reasons I want to marry you. And if you want, I’d be happy to list them in front of your friends. If not, I’ll just say that I have nothing but happy days ahead of me and that is all because of you. Marry me?”

Cambry wasn’t one to drag out an answer. Her heart had said yes long before her mind did.

  “Yes, of course!”

The squad broke out in cheers. They only gave Cambry the chance to get one good long kiss in with Evan before they pulled her away to congratulate her.

Waverly got in first, her arms wrapping around her. Whispering into Cambry’s ear she said, “Not one drop of sadness on you, honey. All I see is strength and love.”

All Cambry could do was nod as she hugged her friend tight. That sad girl that Waverly had met was long gone. In her place was a woman who had made her own future, knowing she had a man that truly loved her standing behind her all the way.

She caught the eyes of her man over her friend’s shoulder. His smile told her he was okay giving her over to them for the time being. He’d have her later and every day after. She could tell him later in bed that she had sold her wedding ring from her previous relationship and put the money in the bank to go towards a down payment on a home for them to live in together.

Her life had crashed in a fiery downfall, but now it was burning bright.
