Teliko Mageia: Curse of the Frozen Flame Page 42

He infused his own magick into your body so you could learn it rapidly. Well, everything’s been going smooth. The castle is being rebuilt. Reighild has already recruited new members for the regiments. And of course we paid our respects to our departed ones. We gave them honourable burials. All of the Master Knights’ tombstones are on the cliff at the western part of Erradia,” Helena stated. He sat up. Helena grinned, and Jael looked down and reddened, seeing his naked chest exposed. “Don’t worry, there’s some clean clothes for you here too,” she said, and tossed him a shirt. “You might want to be better dressed before you go talk to your mother.”

Jael dressed, chatting a little with everyone who crossed his path before he finally went to meet with the queen, who was utterly delighted to see him and greeted him with a hug.

“Jael!” Queen Jeannah exclaimed. “How are you, mother?” Jael asked.

“I am at peace with all that has happened, my son. After all, I already am used to not having your father around,” she replied.

“I see…” Jael answered and he gave the queen the biggest and tightest embrace he could ever give.

“Oh, Jael. I have news for you. I will be stepping down as queen of Bristal,” she said.

  “Why is that?” he asked.

“You shall be crowned king of Bristal,” she answered.

“No, mother, I can’t accept such a daunting task. I have not trained for it yet. Plus, please, I want to explore more of the world first before I am given the crown,” he explained.

“Very well, do as you wish my son, for now–but know that one day, it is you who will rule this land,” she replied.

Jael nodded, and accepted it. One day. But that day would not be today.

Later that night, a great feast was held at the courtyard of Krimmirr to celebrate its victory against Malevolentia. Everybody was drinking and being merry. Even Vaan and Cassandra, visibly scarred from their brush with the dark side, sat together now and shared a bucket of puffed candies. Jael and Helena left together, and went to the cliff where the tombstones of the fallen Knights overlooked the sea. The sea breeze consumed their spirit and they held hands, sitting against the cliffside and watching the stars and fireworks sparkle over the dark waves. The dazzle of fireworks mesmerised and Helena leaned towards Jael. “I’ve been longing to ask you this…” she said.

  “What is it?” Jael answered.

“Now that you have found your parents and your past, what is left for you to do?” she asked.

Jael replied, with great will and passion, the words that would forever mark his destiny. “I will continue my father’s journey. I will hunt for the remaining parts of Teliko Mageia!”

  THE END
