“That’s it, honey,” he encouraged her. “Relax and give yourself to me.”
“I love you, Drew,” she whispered against his mouth, leaning up to kiss him lightly.
“I love you, Mate,” he whispered back, kissing her once again. “How do you feel about making love with me right now?”
She actually giggled at his question, making him smile widely. He was relieved that her panic was receding, just as he hoped it would. He leaned forward and nuzzled against the side of her neck, breathing in deeply and taking in her scent. It settled him. It excited him. It made him finally feel that all was right with their lives.
“I’m going to take off your clothes, honey,” he told her as he reached up and started unbuttoning her blouse. “Then I’m going to take off mine. And then I’m going to love every inch of your body.”
Suzie’s wide smile filled his heart with happiness. He loved the sparkle in her eyes and noted that they looked clearer than when they had first brought her home.
“Close your eyes, honey,” he told her softly.
He smiled when she immediately complied with his request. Leaning forward, he kissed each eyelid tenderly then each of her cheeks, smiling as her soft puff of breath caressed his face. He covered her lips with his, coaxing them open gently.
She matched his movements, touching his back lightly and tugging up on his shirt until it pulled away from the waist of his jeans. Slipping her hand beneath his shirt, she sighed as she felt the warmth of his skin and reveled in the feel of the strength of his body. Dragging her nails down his back, she moaned into his mouth as his growl ramped up her need for him.
“Please,” she whispered, unable to say any more.
“I’ve got you, baby,” he told her softly, pulling his shirt over his head to give her better access to his body. He pushed back her blouse and ran his hands down her arms to remove it. Unhooking her bra, he drew it forward to slowly reveal the creamy mounds of her full breasts. “So beautiful,” he whispered, leaning forward to capture a turgid nipple and suckle it.
Her moan of desire fueled his own need for her. His tongue circled the rosy areola, loving the taste of her. He opened his mouth and drew in her soft skin, licking at her nipple with the flat of his tongue then biting down into the full swell of her breast.
“Drew,” she pleaded, panting as her excitement ramped up to a level of near frenzy. She was barely in control of herself, and it frightened her. “Please help me. I don’t know what’s wrong.”
He pulled off her breast gently, kissing the soft swell lightly before leaning back to look down at her. He could see the panic in her eyes, and he could feel the way her heart was racing. Her eyes were glowing golden, and he could see that her wolf was fighting for release. His mind raced with possible remedies to help her stay in control. The only one that sounded plausible to him was to involve her in the complete surrender to the lovemaking that they would share. He truly felt that if she lost herself in the physical and emotional need of their mating, her wolf would be satisfied as long as she was able to complete another claiming.
“Baby, we need to make love now,” he told her. “I’m sorry, but I don’t think your wolf will be satisfied unless we join quickly.”
“Drew,” Suzie pleaded, her voice barely above a whimper. “I feel like I have no control of myself. Help me.”
Drew pulled back and reached down to unsnap her jeans and tugged them from her body in one continuous move, pulling her panties down with them. He was barely able to remove his own jeans and boxer briefs as she clawed at his body and pulled him closer, opening her legs wide and offering herself to him.
“Try to stay calm, Suzie,” Drew told her, petting her body gently, all of his efforts directed at seeing to it that she would not be injured in the mating. He knew it would be intense. Her wolf would not settle for anything less.
“Drew!” Suzie nearly screamed. “It hurts. I’m scared!”
Drew took hold of his cock and placed the tip at the entrance to their mate’s channel, praying she was wet enough to receive him. Plunging inside of her, he said a silent prayer of thanks to the Fates as he felt the wetness that already flooded her. The grunt that escaped Suzie concerned him, but before he could pull out, she wrapped her legs around his thighs and pulled him tighter against her core.
“Harder, please,” she whispered, clawing at his back as she tried to pull him deeper.
“Baby, I don’t want to hurt you,” he told her, pulling out slightly and plunging back in as deep as he could go.
“You’re not hurting me,” she told him, her voice tight with need. “I need you to take me harder. Please, my Drew.”
Drew looked down at her briefly, seeing that her eyes were still golden but her own hazel color was starting to bleed through. He could see that she was fighting against her wolf, trying to stay in control, and he could feel his heart breaking for her as she closed her eyes as she struggled with her fears.
He knew in that instant that he had to do all that he could to help her. He had to love her intensely to draw her human side forward with the feelings of their union. Only then could she calm and give herself over to the emotions of their love. Her wolf would settle and submit to his domination.
Reaching up, he took hold of her hair at the top of her scalp, fisted it tightly in his hand, and pulled firmly. Suzie’s neck arched backward to follow his strength. When he wrapped his hand around her soft tresses and tugged, he was rewarded by her soft growl. Her eyes snapped open, once again completely golden. She opened her mouth and growled, showing her canines.
“Oh, no, little wolf,” he warned her. “You will not try to be in control. You belong to me—to me and Carter. You’re ours to love, ours to care for, and ours to dominate. Do you want to challenge that?”
Suzie growled menacingly, snapping her head back to try to release Drew’s hold on her hair, but he held firm. She reached up to grab for his hand to try to pull it away, but Drew took hold of her wrists and held them above her head with his free hand.
“Not gonna happen, baby,” he warned her.
Suzie’s breathing was labored, and her chest rose and fell as she let out continuous growls. She struggled to pull her hands out of Drew’s grip but couldn’t. He was just too strong. In that moment of realization, her wolf settled and sat on her haunches, contrite. This man was a worthy mate—strong and caring. There was no more challenge needed.
Drew looked down at their mate and waited. He would wait as long as he needed to in order to make sure that Suzie’s wolf accepted him. He saw the exact moment when her wolf submitted to him. He growled softly and leaned forward, opening his mouth and taking her throat in a gentle bite, pressing his canines against her with enough pressure to make her know that there was no escaping him.
“My Drew,” Suzie whispered.
He released her throat and looked down at her, smiling as he saw the beautiful hazel of Suzie’s eyes edged by the gold of her wolf. “My Mate,” he whispered back, leaning down and laving at the blood on her throat from his firm hold, determined to heal her so she would not feel any pain at his hand.
“I love you,” she moaned as she felt the softness of his tongue on her neck.
“Hold on tightly, Suzie Q,” he warned her, releasing his hold on her wrists. He smiled as her hands immediately surrounded his back, and she dug her nails deep into his muscles.
Dragging his cock out slowly, he smiled as Suzie moaned with pleasure as he grazed her G-spot. Snapping his hips with force, he plunged deeply, touching the mouth of her womb with each thrust. The soft growls that escaped Suzie relieved his worry that he was hurting her. She was enjoying his dominance. Her hips rose to meet each thrust, canting just slightly to ease his passage into her body. The wet sounds of their bodies meeting and retreating made his wolf sit up and take notice, demanding the complete submission of her wolf. There was nothing Drew could do but hold on for the ride.
He was beyond the breaking point. All the years of loneliness
and frustration melted away with the need to claim, to mate, and to love. This woman was his—his and Carter’s—and she was accepting him into her body without hesitation. As her nails scored the length of his back, he growled with happiness. His breathing grew labored and his heart pounded as he continued to love her, his cock plunging inside of her, deep and urgent. There was no way he was going to stop until she screamed out her pleasure and he found his own release. It was a primal need that he could not, would not, deny. She belonged to them. He would never allow her to be taken from them again.
Her chest bowed as the pleasure in her built. As he reached between them and swiped his thumb through the wetness that surrounded his plunging cock, he dragged it up to rub her clit with a roughness that he couldn’t hold back. His own wolf was demanding the roughness, the intensity, and the submission of their mate.
She screamed as her release burst through her body. With immediate need, she leaned up and bit into his chest, claiming him and clamping down on his pectoral muscle with such intensity it made him see stars as the seed shot from his cock and filled her beyond capacity. The mating knot formed and held them together, drawing another gasp of pleasure from both of them as more seed was pulled from his body to fill their mate.
Suzie’s breath was warm against his chest. His body shuddered as she swiped her tongue over her claiming mark. When she kissed him gently, he sighed contentedly as he gathered her in his arms and pulled her up to sit on his thighs, still joined intimately together. When she wrapped her arms around his back and held him tightly, his canines dropped and he bit into the soft skin of her shoulder to reclaim her in the same spot that already carried his mating mark.
Both of them moaned as another orgasm was pulled from them. He could feel the rhythmic pulsing of her vaginal muscles and groaned as his cock erupted with another spurt of seed. He thought about the baby she would soon be carrying and smiled at the thought of the children that she would nurture. Removing his canines from her shoulder, he laved at her skin soothingly.
“You doing okay, honey?” he asked her quietly, kissing her forehead lightly. “I’m sorry I was so rough.”
Suzie’s soft laughter sent puffs of warmth against his neck. “I hope you’ll be that rough with me again. I loved it.”
She looked up at him and smiled, her hazel eyes sparkling with love as she searched the darkness for his form. When his large hands framed her face, she smiled and rubbed her cheeks gently against his hold.
“Thank you for loving me,” she whispered.
Drew took her lips in a gentle claiming. She opened her mouth to him without hesitation, allowing his tongue to sweep inside her mouth and caress her softly. When he pulled away, she sighed contentedly.
“I love you, Mate,” he told her gruffly, his voice deep with emotion. “Please forgive me for all the years you’ve suffered.”
Suzie reached up and grabbed his hand, squeezing it tightly before entwining her fingers with his. “There’s nothing to forgive you for, Mate,” she whispered. “We’ve all suffered because of the selfishness of one man. I don’t want to ever talk about him again. I want us to live with the beautiful possibilities of our future.”
Drew searched her face for any indication that she was haunted by the past and was relieved that he saw only happiness and contentment. “I think we’ll have a wonderful future,” he whispered, kissing her lips lightly.
“I think so, too,” she agreed. She rubbed her face against his chest, breathing in deeply and smiling. “I love the scent of you. I’m so glad I can smell you again.”
Drew smiled against the top of her head. “I can honestly say, no one has ever said that to me before.” He ran his fingers through the softness of her hair as she burrowed into his chest. “You make me so happy, Suzie,” he told her softly.
Suzie smiled and hugged him tightly. She had no words for the incredible feeling of belonging she felt. She just hoped nothing would ever tear them apart again.
Drew held her gently against his body, completely sated. He was filled with happiness and warmth. He had never expected to feel such contentment in his life. Suzie had done that for him. She was the balm for his bruised soul. She gave him complete acceptance and love.
He smiled against the top of her head, loving the feel of her warmth against him. Her heartbeat matched his. Her hopes mirrored his. For the first time in a very long time, he was completely at peace.
Chapter 19
Carter walked into their home, still dressed in his EMT uniform. He smiled as he saw Drew standing in the kitchen wearing just his jeans. He noticed the healing scratches on his back and knew that their little wolf had come out to play with a vengeance.
“Someone’s had a good afternoon,” he told Drew, humor evident in his voice. “Looks like you’ve been busy loving our mate.”
Drew turned and faced him with a wide smile on his face. “Yes.”
“That’s all you have to say?” Carter asked, laughing.
“What more can I say?” Drew asked, shrugging. “How can I explain how amazing it is to finally have our mate back and in my arms?”
Carter grew serious immediately. “I know.” His deep voice held the very emotion that Drew was trying to express. “Thank the Fates we finally have her back with us.”
Drew nodded. “She’s struggling with her wolf, Carter,” he told him calmly. “The only way I could help her stay in control and appease her wolf at the same time was to take her roughly and allow her to claim me again.”
“I’ll bet that was a real hardship.”
“Yeah, it was tough,” Drew responded, smiling wickedly.
Carter’s soft chuckle made Drew happy. He was relieved by the complete change that had occurred in his triad partner’s demeanor since Suzie had come back into their lives. Was it only two days ago that they had both been talking about leaving the pack and planning their own demise?
“I just talked on the phone with Jace,” Drew told Carter seriously as Carter threw his coat onto the couch. “He said he and Jackson were meeting with all of the pack enforcers tonight at seven. He’s also asking Hunter and Clay to attend the meeting.” He thought of the two members of their pack who worked as police officers for the nearby town and knew Jace was taking no chances that Randall and his pack would be able to slip by any of them.
“Good,” Carter told him, his tone clipped and angry. “Randall has gotten away with too much for too long. It’s about time someone made that wolf pay for how he’s tortured so many people over the years.”
Drew nodded. “Jace said Hunter and Clay are bringing their mate to the compound so she’ll be protected as well. She’s not happy about being brought here, but I guess she’s going through something of a protection issue as well.”
“They have a mate?” Carter was more than surprised. “The Fates have a wicked sense of humor.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Because Hunter and Clay have been flirting and dating the women of the pack and the town for years. I never thought those two would ever settle down. They’re too busy being players to want that.”
Drew leaned back against the sink, crossed his ankles, and rubbed at his face tiredly. “I don’t think that’s true, Carter.”
“You don’t?”
“No. When Clay was injured last spring, he really thought he wasn’t going to make it. Hunter had been hurt, too, but not as severely as Clay. They had been ambushed and had suffered injuries made worse by the silver in the bullets that had been used on them. Do you remember?”
“Yeah. I remember. But what does that have to do with anything?”
“Well, when they were recuperating in their home on pack land, I went to check in on them. I saw that they had a room set up between the two bedrooms that they occupied. It seemed to me that the third bedroom was going to be the one they hoped they would share with their triad mate.”
“No shit! Really?”
“Yeah. And I have to tell you, I have never seen either man so
dejected or lonely as they were while they were fighting their way back to health. They weren’t acting like the players they allow us to see. They looked like wolves who longed for a mate who would care about them. Their mate.”
Carter was silent as he processed Drew’s words. “I should have known better,” he said finally. “All of us want to find that one person who would complete our triad. Why should I think Hunter and Clay would be any different?” He looked at Drew and shook his head in disgust. “Shame on me for thinking those two don’t want exactly what the rest of us crave.”
Drew pushed off the sink and walked toward Carter. He reached up and rested his hand on his triad partner’s shoulder. “Sometimes we see only what others want us to see. I think that’s what Hunter and Clay wanted everyone to see.”
“I can understand why.”
“Why?” Drew asked, confused.
“Because if we act like we don’t want something, we can hide how much it hurts us that we don’t have it.”
Drew nodded, squeezing Carter’s shoulder lightly. “I get that.”
Releasing his grip on Carter, he turned and walked back into the kitchen. Carter followed him and stood at the counter that separated the living room from the kitchen.
“Jace said he was going to arrange for Suzie, Meeka, and Eric to go shopping for clothes. I guess it’s going to be a day at the mall for everyone,” he told Carter calmly.
“Is that wise?” Carter asked, his gut clenching at the thought of Suzie being in public and in possible danger again.
“Before I could question it, Jace told me it wasn’t going to happen until all the added security measures were put in place first. Once he’s satisfied with the safety on pack land, he’s going to make sure enough security goes with the group to protect our people. Reece and Wade will be going, too.”
