“I do,” he said as he pressed himself against her and slid his hand up her shirt to her perfect breasts. He massaged and kissed her deeply. Every time with her was purely exhilarating. He took in her scent and lingered over every curve of her gorgeous body. His lips found her ear and then her neck. His hands worked to slide her pants off.

Each movement became more urgent. She met his passion by pushing him onto the bed and rolling on top of him. Now she kissed his neck and chest as she massaged his raging member. Their fast breathing matched each other, and she quickly pulled her panties down and kicked them onto the floor.

He looked up at her, his head resting on a green pillow. “My God, you are the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”

She smiled, her pink cheeks turning a slightly darker shade. “You’re not so bad yourself,” she said as she ran her hands over his heaving chest. Then she grabbed him and lowered herself on top of him.

Her warmth seemed to radiate up and down his body and she rocked back and forth, slowly at first, and then faster and faster.

“Oh yes, Oh my GOD you feel amazing,” she said in a rasping voice.

“You do too,” he breathed. He reached for her hips and fell in time with her rhythm.

“I love it when you’re inside of me,” she moaned.

“It’s my favorite place to be,” he replied.

She sank all the way down and rolled her shoulders forward. He reached up and pinched her perfect breasts and she let out a loud moan before her body quivered.

Her release was matched by his, and she collapsed on top of him. They lay entangled for a long time as their bodies melted together. He could not have imagined that anything could be this wonderful, and he relished this moment with her.

It was the calm before the storm. Tomorrow he’d be on his way to Las Vegas where the storm would rage. He knew he could get through it as long as she was by his side.

The Beginning of Caged Love (Book Four)

  The Monday before UCC 132

Sherry Winstatt stormed up the walkway to the Lake Mead Marina office. Strangely enough it was actually located in the northeastern part of Boulder City just off highway 93 on Waterfront Drive, a good five minute jaunt from the actual Marina. The building was easy to miss amongst the houses and their rock yards. Sherry had been to it only once when she and Harold did the paperwork for the boat slip. She vaguely remembered its location, but drove right to it.

She yanked open the door, gathered herself and looked down at a middle-aged man who sat behind a desk in the single room office. He was balding on top, wore a button down shirt with a Lake Mead Marina insignia on the left breast pocket, and wasn’t too interested in helping her.

Sherry’s eyes were hard and narrow. After a few seconds he sat his pen down, looked up and offered a thin smile. “Can I help you?”

“You can tell me what the meaning of this is.” She unfolded the paper and thrust it into his face. “It came in the mail today.”

He creased his brow, took the paper, and read the words. They thanked the customer for docking at Lake Mead Marina. He didn’t need to read the rest. “Ah yes, this is one of our standard departure letters. We send it to all customers when they are no longer docking their boat in the marina.”

“What the hell do you mean?” She yelled.

The man leaned back in his chair. He couldn’t grasp the woman’s frustration. “Just like I said, a departure letter.”

“But my husband’s boat, my boat, is still docked here!”

“Are you sure? Do you have your slip number?”

“No, I don’t have the slip number. Isn’t it on that paper?”

“No, no reason for it to be on the departure letter, but what’s the name? I can look it up that way.”

  “Winstatt, W-i-n-s-t-a-t-t, Harold.”

The man punched in the keys and stared at the screen. Sherry couldn’t see it, and she hedged forward to catch a glimpse. The man spoke. “Yes, and you are?”

  “I’m Sherry Winstatt.”

“Okay, well Mrs. Winstatt, you no longer have a boat docked here.”

  “That’s not possible.”

“Yes, and actually I remember. Your husband sold the boat in a hurry.”

The words took the air out of Sherry. She sat heavily down into one of the two cushioned chairs adjacent the man.

  “He sold it. You’re sure?”

  “Yes—”

“You actually saw my husband in here with the purchaser? When did all this take place?”

“Well...now that you mention it, it was kind of odd. Actually your husband didn’t come in. I remember because it is not standard for someone to sell their boat and then have somebody else remove it from the slip without ever coming into the office. I asked the gentleman about it and he said the man, your husband, had already left.”

Sherry stood once again. “Left. Did he say where?”

“No, again odd because in making small talk I remember asking if he got a quick transfer to Tokyo or something.”

“And what did the man tell you?”

“He smiled and said, ‘Something like that, a little closer though.’”

Sherry didn’t understand the response. She started to mull it over, but decided it best left for another time. “So why in the hell did you let this guy take the boat?”

“Well it’s not like I could stop him. He had all the proper paperwork. It was just strange the way the whole thing happened.”

“I need to see all the paperwork from the transaction, the closing, the account, whatever you have. Can you make copies for me?”

“I’m sorry. I don’t think I can even show the paperwork to you. We aren’t lawyers or doctors here, but there is personal information on the transaction documents. That’s all I have because the man took the boat somewhere else. I don’t want to get in trouble for giving you private information.”

Sherry started to argue, but thought of Detective Westingham. He’d be able to get whatever records he needed. “Can you at least tell me when all this happened?”

“Let’s see, it looks like a few months ago. Yep, it was early February. Strange, I’m sorry it took so long for you to get the departure letter.”

Sherry didn’t hear the last part, only the date, after Harold disappeared. She jumped up and dug in her purse for her cell phone. “Thanks for your help.” She punched in Dana Murphy’s number as she left the office. Dana answered on the third ring.

“It’s me, Sherry. I’m not sure, but I think I found something out about Harold!”

  “Really? What happened?”

“I’m in Boulder City, climbing in my car right now. Can you meet at my house in about thirty minutes?”

“Um, yeah, I’m off work this afternoon.”

“Great, after we talk we’ll want to get Westingham involved.”

“Well he’s right here. He’s with me now. We were eating ice cream and...talking about Harold’s disappearance.”

“Dana, it’s okay. It doesn’t bother me if you’r
e bopping the weirdo. Bring him along.”

Dana blushed and feared Mitch heard Sherry. She glanced at him, his eyes were crossed and he was trying to lick strawberry ice cream off the tip of his nose, too busy to overhear. “Sorry Sherry, like I said, he does something for me. You should hear his Humphrey Bogart impersonation—”

“Seriously, no worries. See you in half an hour?”

  “We’ll be there.”

Detective Westingham, Dana in tow, pulled up to the curb as Sherry was piling out of her SUV. She didn’t even greet them. “Come inside, I’ll tell you everything.”

They all sat at the kitchen table and Sherry described the day. Westingham implored her to be as detailed as possible, and she was. She told of the letter, unfortunately she left it at the boat office, but he said it wouldn’t be an issue.

She told them of the man at the Lake Mead Marina. Told of him saying the boat was purchased by a man who said Harold left in a hurry. Told how she tried to get copies, but the man wouldn’t release them. She went back over the story to make sure she left nothing out.

Both Dana and Detective Westingham asked more questions and kicked around thoughts and ideas. After twenty minutes or so he sat back in his chair. “I really think you’re on to something. We, I mean the police, knew he had a boat. Remember, you showed us the paperwork. And that was easily the middle of February, so whoever took the boat must’ve had duplicates, or maybe forged documents. It wouldn’t be that hard if you knew the right people.” As he talked he became more animated. “But the thing is he had to leave a trail. And if not, there is a good chance the boat is still on Lake Mead. We can search all of them with the same make and model. Comb the entire lake with help from the Arizona side.”

Westingham’s hands were flying all over the place. His voice had risen and his face matched his red hair perfectly. He took a breath, looked at the women and continued. “We’ll scrutinize the paperwork from each boat. It may take time, but one way or another we’ll track this guy down.”

This time when he stopped Dana jumped in. “How are you going to do all this, Mitch? You don’t have the man power.”

“Hopefully it won’t come to that, doll.” The word doll had an unintended hint of Bogart in it. Dana stared at Mitch like she was in middle school and he was in a boy band. “Hopefully I’ll be able to find the guy through the transaction paperwork, but it still might take a day or two to get a warrant.”

“If you need an efficient assistant I have a lot of days built up at work.”

“Thanks sweetie, you’re a doll,” again with the Bogart. This time despite the situation Sherry let out a little giggle.

The oddball lovebird crime fighting team looked at her. “I’m sorry. I’m giddy about all this. Do you think there is a chance we will find Harold...I mean, okay...alive?”

“If he is, we’ll find him,” Westingham said. “Let’s get down to the station and take your official statement.”
