Serrano slammed Nate on the shoulder in a bullish way, “At least we don’t have to go back to class!” He bellowed.
Minutes later, Lynette appeared, flanked by guards.
“Lynette!” Addy called out, catching the woman’s attention.
“Ah, Pershing, Lederer, Serrano—check,” she said, tapping away at her slate.
“Let us out of here, please,” Addy insisted.
“We haven’t completed the inspections,” was the hurried reply.
Serrano laughed and Addy gawked as the woman, in her three-inch heels, stepped deftly over debris and puddles of blood to continue with her roster.
Addy sighed, closing her eyes, but they burst open in realization. That student, the killer, he knew my name!
