Diary of a Ninja Spy 3: Ninja Ghost Attack! (Diary of a Sixth Grade Ninja Spy)
Page 3
“Blake, you had 10 hours as a ghost, but then you needed to return here so I could transform you back to a person,” the Grandmaster cuts in.
“Yeah, so?”
“You have been a ghost for 11 hours.”
Wait! What? I do the math in my head.
Exploring as a ghost, 1 hour.
Played with the dog, 3 hours.
Played the drums, 2 hours.
Prank on Bull, 1 hour.
Travelled to the ghost town, 2 hours.
Fought the Ninja Ghost for 2 hours…
Ekk!
Maybe I should pay attention in math class!
Chapter 10
“Um, I don’t want to stay as a ghost!” I complain.
My Mom will kill me!
“You knew you only had 10 hours and yet you travelled around wasting time playing the drums and playing pranks as a ghost. Now you must stay as a ghost forever. I cannot change you back. I could only change you back to a person within 10 hours from the beginning of the spell.”
“I’ll call someone else to help,” I say desperately.
“Who you gonna call?” says the Grandmaster.
“I don’t know,” I slump down on the ground and try to lean on the wall, but I fall through it.
“There is one person who can change you back. But I don’t like your chances,” adds the Grandmaster.
“Who!?” I jump up.
“The Ninja Ghost.”
Urrr.
I slump back down.
He isn’t going to help me after I locked him up in a ghost prison.
“Only a ghost can undo a ghost after 10 hours.”
“How about if we set him free as a trade?”
“No.”
Really?
Not even a second to think about it!
“You’ll be fine,” says Tekato, after standing silent for some time, “At least you won’t be as lonely as he is in the ghost prison.”
“Lonely! That’s it!” I jump up and race out of the headquarters.
A few minutes later, I return with my bribe and go to the cell block where the Ninja Ghost is serving his time.
“Hellllloooo,” I say cheerfully.
I probably shouldn’t act so happy.
“What do you want?” snaps the Ninja Ghost.
“I need you to turn me back to a human,” I answer.
“Ha ha ha,” he laughs. “You took more than your 10 hours! Ha ha! No, you need to live with your mistake forever!”
“Well, I have something for you if you decide to help me. I know it will get pretty lonely being stuck in a ghost prison.”
“Go on…”
“I present to you - a dog!”
“A dog?”
“A dog!”
“But dogs can’t see me.”
“This dog can!”
It is a huge success!
The Ninja Ghost puts on a wide smile. Lucky for me, he isn’t a cat person.
“You can keep your new best friend if I walk out of here a human. Do we have a deal?”
“Deal,” the Ninja Ghost smiles.
I guess everyone needs a friend.
Epilogue
The following day on the way to school, I retell my Ninja Spy adventure to Emily and Fred.
They finally forgave me for taking them to a dangerous, remote island… but only after I agreed to do all their homework for the next month.
As we walk, I see Bull in the distance.
Oh no.
He gets up and walks towards our group.
He looks bigger than usual. He must have grown again.
Fred braces himself for an onslaught by Bull the Bully.
But Bull stops and bows to me.
I smirk, keep walking and give Emily and Fred a wink.
I can’t wait for my next adventure…
