  Chapter 1

Holly tried to relax as her sister Laurel navigated through a snowstorm on a narrow road somewhere near Nowhere, North Dakota.

Oh, crap! Holly thought as a tree appeared from out of nowhere. “Look out for the tree,” she shouted as she tensed her body in anticipation of the impact, she pressed her foot down on the floorboard of the rental car like she was pushing down on the brake.

  The airbag exploded. Holly screamed…

“Oh, oh,” Holly moaned as she slowly regained consciousness. Holly was afraid to open her eyes. Her ankle hurt and the pain in her head was excruciating. “Oh,” she moaned again.

Holly listened as her older sisters argued. Holly wondered how long she could lay in the front seat and convince Laurel and Ivy she was still unconscious. She couldn’t take the arguing anymore. Holly hated it when anyone argued. It made her stomach ache.

“My head hurts,” Holly mumbled, unintentionally gaining her sisters’ undivided attention.

“I’m so happy to hear your voice,” Ivy exclaimed.

“Well,” Holly replied, trying to make a joke out of the reality of their lives, “the two of you arguing is enough to wake the dead.”

“Sorry,” Ivy and Laurel replied in unison. The sisters looked at each other and laughed.

Holly felt weird. She was in the moment and then she was out of the moment. Maybe the bang on her head was worse than she thought. She seemed to be slipping in and out of consciousness.

Ivy opened the front door of the car to help her. Holly loved her sisters, but she was so tired of having them treat her like a baby. She was twenty-three years old with a PhD in Biochemical Engineering, yet her sisters still treated her like she was an infant.

“Crap, my foot is messed up,” Holly moaned as Ivy attempted to help her out of the car and to the back seat. Laurel’s plan to leave Ivy and Holly as she went to find help included Holly huddling with Ivy in the back seat.

Holly tried to ignore Ivy and Laurel as they discussed Holly and their plans like she wasn’t a few feet away from them. Damn, Holly thought, I wish I could be the one to rescue us. It would be nice to be the hero for a change.

“I love you guys,” Laurel said as she closed the door to the car.

Holly sighed. “Sometimes I think Laurel is a better mom than Mom.” Holly snuggled with Ivy like they’d done when they were kids and their mom left them alone for the evening, or the week, or the month. “Speaking of Mom, do you think Uncle Steve has her?”

“Holly,” Ivy replied, “you know Uncle Steve isn’t really our uncle, right?”

Holly was stunned. Of course, Uncle Steve was their uncle. “What are you talking about? Of course Uncle Stave’s our uncle. We’ve called him ‘uncle’ our whole lives.”

Holly thought about her mom and Uncle Steve. “Hey, Ivy, why did you tell me about Uncle Steve tonight?”

  “
I don’t know, I guess because I think Uncle Steve’s in love with Mom.” Ivy shrugged. “I wouldn’t want you to be shocked or anything if they ended up together, you sweet, little twenty-three-year-old virgin, you.”

“Well, at least I don’t masturbate while looking at a guy’s picture in a business magazine,” Holly said as she gave Ivy a good-natured squeeze. “You believe Mom’s okay, right?”

Ivy mumbled her response. Holly didn’t ask her to elaborate. She was determined to believe her mom was fine. Holly sighed. Ever since their mom met Antonio DeMarco she’d been messed up. She’d always been busy, but she’d never been distant or distracted. Holly and her sisters were sure their stepfather had drugged their mother. They were also pretty certain their mom was safe with Uncle Steve. Hopefully, their mad dash to the house their Nana left them in Nowhere, North Dakota was the safe haven they hoped it would be. Holly sighed again, the three of them just needed to reach Nana’s, set up shop, and figure out how to secure the future of Fairweather Cosmetics. Just another day at the office, Holly thought.

Ivy’s breathing became slow and deep. Apparently Ivy had fallen asleep leaving Holly alone with her thoughts.

Holly would love to take care of her virginity. She, however, couldn’t find anyone she wanted except the Carmichael cousins. She sighed as she picked up the magazine Ivy dropped on the floor in the back of the car. Trying not to disturb Ivy, Holly used the flashlight on her phone to look at the picture of the Carmichaels in Business Monthly.

How could three men be so good looking? They posed for the photo in the magazine wearing black T-shirts and camo pants. Michael, Maxwell, and Mitchel. Holly remembered the day they arrived at her office two years ago to develop a security plan for Fairweather Cosmetics’ research laboratory. She recalled what she was wearing and how she felt. She had on a black pencil skirt, Jessica Simpson CFM pumps, and a white blouse. For the first time in her life she was aroused, aroused simply because of the way they looked at her. Her nipples tightened as she thought of the hot gazes of the three men. It was crazy, every time she thought of those men and that day she got wet. It was frustrating.

Holly sighed, if the Carmichaels were here she wouldn’t have been able to choose the one to assist her in losing the big “V.” So, basically she’d still be a virgin because she wouldn’t be able to make up her mind. Sort of like a box of chocolate, Holly thought with a grin, but if the Carmichaels were chocolates she would choose them all. Too bad they weren’t chocolates.

She closed her eyes hoping the Carmichaels would invade her dreams and keep her warm.

  Chapter 2

“Holly, Holls, wake up.” Holly woke up to Ivy’s stressed out demand.

Holly felt hot. Crap, she thought, I have a stupid fever.

“Here’s the plan,” Ivy said, “I’m going to try to find Laurel and try to find us a house or someplace where we can start a fire so we can warm up, Are you feeling okay? You look a little flushed?”

Holly knew she was sick, but she kept her fever to herself as she watched Ivy bundle up. Ivy would find Laurel, Holly was sure of it. Holly wanted to insist that she should accompany Ivy, but Holly knew she was too sick to be any help. In order to ensure the safety of her sisters she would convince Ivy she was fine. “That sounds like a plan, Ivy,” Holly replied. “That way if Laurel makes it back to the car we’ll be able to find you.”

This is a dumb ass plan. We’re all going to end up dead and dear old stepdaddy would end up with what he wanted. Control of the company and the Fairweather family out of the way. Holly did not share her thoughts with her sister. She gave Ivy a thumbs-up instead.

“I love you,” Holly said as Ivy closed the car door. She closed her eyes and pulled the blanket over her head. Even though she felt so damn hot she knew she needed to remain in the cocoon of her blankets.

Holly wasn’t sure how long she laid on the backseat alone. She heard voices, but she couldn’t respond. It was weird. She felt like she was under water and none of her actions could raise her to the surface.

Mike Carmichael and his cousins approached the wrecked car. “What the hell was someone doing out here in the middle of Nowhere in friggin’ January?” Mike asked Mitch and Max as he approached the abandoned vehicle.

“Hell if I know,” Mitch replied as he opened the car door. “Well, I’ll be damned,” Mitch whispered as he stared down at the beautiful face of the girl who was featured in all of their combined fantasies, Holly Fairweather.

A soft moan escaped from Holly’s lips. Mitch leaned down to assist her, her skin was on fire.

“Damn,” Mike and Max whispered in unison as they looked at the woman in the car. “No friggin’ way,” Max said. “I think it’s Holly Fairweather.”

“Come on,” Mitch said. “She’s got a fever. We need to get her back to the house.” Mike and Max nodded their heads in agreement.

Mitch gently lifted Holly into his arms. Mike grabbed the blanket and tucked it around Holly’s feverish body.

Max reached into the back of the car and pulled out the tote bag he assumed belonged to Holly.

Max and Mike scanned the area. They didn’t see anyone. Mike gave the signal and the three men moved out, they moved in double-quick time effortlessly walking across the snow in their military grade snowshoes.

The three men didn’t speak as they covered the miles back to their home.

Max opened the door to the house so Mitch could get Holly inside where they could take care of her. Mike took off his snowshoes and outer gear quickly. He held out his arms to Mitch who handed him Holly.

Mike smiled as Holly snuggled into his chest.

“She’s got a fever,” Mitch said as he and Max followed Mike to the den.

Mike started to remove Holly’s hat, gloves, scarf, and winter coat. Mitch and Max waited patiently for Mike to tell them what they should do. Mike was the eldest and he’d been their commanding officer in Afghanistan, Mitch and Max were accustomed to following his lead. “Meds,” Mike bit out. Sometimes he forgot he wasn’t the commanding officer anymore.

“I’ll go get the antibiotic,” Max said quickly leaving the room to complete his task. He was a little stunned Holly Fairweather was on their couch in their house. Dreams do come true, Max thought as he grabbed the meds from the cabinet. He stopped by the kitchen to get a glass of water to assist Holly in swallowing the pills.

Mitch bolted past Max on his way to get their medical kit. “Sprained ankle,” Mitch called to Max.

Max returned to the den to find Holly laying on the sofa in her jeans and V-neck sweater. She was so friggin’ curvy. He tried not to notice the cleavage exposed by the sweater.

“I got it,” Mitch said, holding up the medical kit. Max watched as Mitch expertly wrapped up Holly’s ankle. “Prettiest ankle I’ve ever seen,” Mitch said as he completed wrapping up Holly’s ankle. He looked at his cousins. “Minor sprain, I’m guessing she was in the front seat when the accident occurred. I need to take a look at the damage to her head, it looks like abrasions caused by the airbag.”

Mitch gently pushed Holly’s hair aside. “Damn, she has a pretty deep cut and some bruising.” Max and Mike watched as Mitch treated Holly’s head injury. “We need to wake her up, she may have slight concussion.”

“Holly,” Mitch said. “Holly, open your eyes.”

The three men stood silently as Holly opened her eyes. Her emerald-colored eyes got huge as she looked from one face to the next. “Thank you, God,” she whispered. “This is so my idea of heaven.”

“Holly,” Max replied, “this isn’t heaven. This is Nowhere, North Dakota, right here on good old planet earth.”

“You remember me?” Holly asked, sounding surprised.

Mitch, Mike, and Max nodded in affirmation. Holly laughed at their response.

Hell, Mike thought, forget her? As if…

“Oh,” Holly moaned bringing her hands to her head. “My head feels like it was hit by a truck.” Holly grinned as she grimaced. “Or like i
t was hit by a tree, or by an airbag after the car ran into a tree. I’m forgetting something really important,” Holly mumbled, rubbing her head.

“Don’t worry about it, babe.” Max handed her some pills and held a glass of water. “You’re running a fever, Holly. I need you to take the antibiotics and the pain killer.”

Max popped the pills in Holly’s mouth while Mike gently lifted her head so Mitch could hold the glass of water for her to sip. “Thanks,” Holly whispered as she sank back down on the sofa and closed her eyes.

Mike nudged Mitch. “Stop staring at her cleavage. We’re protecting her not lusting after her.”

Max watched as Holly’s lips turned up in a smile, evidently she was okay with Mitch staring at her cleavage and lusting after her. He grinned in response. Maybe their fantasies would come true.

“The pain killer has some codeine in it,” Max explained. “Hopefully, she’ll sleep for a couple hours and her fever will be gone when she wakes up.”

The three men looked at each other. “Well, I can’t think of anything I would rather do than stand here and watch Holly,” Mike said as he gazed at the little blonde bombshell resting on their sofa.

“You got that right,” Mitch agreed sitting on the floor in front of the sofa. “You guys want to review our security plan for Fairweather Cosmetics’ shipping interests?”

Max sat down next to Mitch on the floor while Mike took the seat on the leather chair near Holly’s head.

“I think we should talk to Holly before we respond to the DeMarco dude. Something does not feel right about him,” Mike said as he leaned over and moved a strand of Holly’s hair from her face. “Damn, her hair is so soft.”
