Off Your Rocker? Page 40

by K E Osborn

“New Jerseeeeey,” he yells and the crowd scream.

“So we had a little break, but now we’re back, and we’re ready to rock your bloody socks off. So scream if you wanna hear ‘Rapture’,” he says into the microphone and everyone screams, including me and Anna. Sia laughs at us and wraps her arms around our shoulders.

Colt starts playing his guitar leading the song into play and next he opens his mouth and starts singing. I can’t even describe the emotion I feel watching him perform like he’s meant to. He really is rocking the show and every ounce of him is screaming sex appeal. I’m seriously the luckiest woman on the face of the earth to have something so undeniably rock God sexy.

The concert’s a massive success and they’re just finishing up and about to play their final song. Colt steps up to the microphone and looks straight at me. I smile and wave and he chuckles.

“Okay, so we have one more song for you guys and then it’s back into the recording studio for us. I just want you all to know how amazed and humbled we all are that you accepted us back into the magical world of music. And let's be honest, we wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for our amazing partners, and mine in particular. Lia baby, can you come up here, please?” he asks smiling at me. The big screen lights up with my face and I shake my head adamantly. No way, I don’t belong on the stage.

  How embarrassing!

A security guard walks over and smiles.

“This way, Miss Norman, please,” he says. I shake my head as a paralyzing fear engulfs me.

“Colt no,” I say and the stadium laughs.

“Don’t worry, baby, I’m not going to make you sing. I just want to show the world how pretty you are,” he says and I laugh as the crowd all go, ohhh at the same time. I huff and walk with the security guard and he helps me up onto the stage. Colt holds out his hand and I walk across to him and take it. I look out at the crowd and nearly pass out.

  Fuck

  Holy fuck!

  Holy, fucking, fuck!

How the hell can he perform like he does looking at all these people who are just staring right back at you? I hear him chuckle while I feel like I want to be sick. He pulls me to him and I take my eyes from the crowd and just look at Colt.

“Isn’t she gorgeous everyone?” Colt asks and the crowd cheers again.

  Oh God!

I hide my face into Colt’s chest and he laughs and pulls my head back and kisses me in front of eighty two thousand people at the stadium and not to mention the millions watching at home or in bars. He pulls back and I smile at him, he winks at me and then suddenly drops on one knee. He moves so quickly I don’t have time to register what’s going on. The crowd erupts and I bend down to make sure he’s okay.

“No, Lia, stand up,” he says and I shake my head utterly confused. He puts the microphone down and pulls something from his pocket. I look at the small blue box and my heart stops and jumps right into my throat. He picks up the microphone and my hand shoots to my mouth.

  Holy shit!

He clears his throat as my eyes start to well with tears. He looks up at me and smiles so brightly it must be hurting his cheeks.

“Delia Norman, my life has never had so many ups and downs since I met you. But I would gladly take every down moment if it means I get to kiss you for the rest of my life. You amaze me and you inspire me, but most of all you make me want to fight. Fight for my life. Fight for your life and fight for our life together. Life’s not easy, and I’ve been a pain in the arse, but one thing I know for sure is that I’ll be in love with you, until the end of time,” he says and I instantly start sobbing. He opens the small blue box and pulls out the ring. I extend my shaking left hand and the crowd cheers.

“Delia Norman, I love you. Will you make me the happiest man in the history of the world and become my wife?” he asks and I nod frantically as the tears fall so fast I can’t see.

  “Is that a yes?”

“Yes,” I reply and he jumps up and wraps his arms around me and lifts me spinning me around. I laugh and sob at the same time. He stops and puts me down and shows me my engagement ring.

  Bloody hell, it’s huge!

A drop dead gorgeous diamond ring!

  Absolutely magnificent!

“May I?” he asks and I nod extending my left hand. He smiles and places it on my ring finger and I don’t even hear the crowd as I move forward taking Colt’s face in my hands and kissing him passionately. I don’t care who’s watching. He loves me, and even more amazing is that he actually said he loves me. Not just to me, but in front of the entire world. Nothing could ever come close to this moment right now. I’m so immensely happy. Colt leans me down in a Hollywood-style kiss and I laugh against his mouth as he pulls me back up. I open my eyes to see him looking at me and his piercing blue eyes are staring right at me with nothing but adoration and love, and that’s exactly how I feel about him. He chastely kisses me again and then takes my hand and raises it above our heads, in a ‘we are the champions’ move. I laugh as the crowd cheers and Hux plays the first few chords of the bridal song on his guitar. I look over at him and he smiles and nods. A security guard walks on stage with a stool and places it next to me. I look back at Colt and he gestures for me to sit on it, so I do.

“Thank God she said yes, it could’ve been really embarrassing otherwise,” Colt says into the microphone and everyone laughs. He leans in and kisses me chastely again and then strums his guitar. Dingo starts on the drums and plays the intro for ‘Until the End of Time,’ and I glance down at my engagement ring and smile brightly. I look back up at Colt and he looks the happiest I’ve ever seen him. The guitars start and Colt begins to sing soon after and it’s like it’s just him and me and there’s no one else here. His voice makes me want him so badly I have to physically restrain myself from jumping up and pushing him to the floor and ripping his shirt off. Throughout the entire song, all I can imagine is him inside me, and I know he’s thinking the exact same way. The song finishes and he walks over and takes my hand. I bite my bottom lip and he has that sultry look in his eyes.

“Thanks, New Jersey, you’ve been amazing,” Colt says into the microphone and then places it on the stand. He places his guitar on the stool and then he bends down and lifts me up over his shoulder. I squeal as my face comes in line with his firm arse. The crowd laugh and I look up and wave as Colt carries me off stage. I’m still laughing when we get out the back and he puts me down. He pulls me to him and kisses me passionately. His tongue dances with mine as his hands scrunch in my hair. I hear laughing from behind us as we finally separate. I smile and we both turn toward the laughter. Anna and Johnny walk across and they both trap us in a big massive group hug.

“See I told you she’d say yes,” Anna says winking at Colt.

“You knew?” I ask and she smirks and so does Johnny. “You both knew?”

  They smile and nod.

“Hmmm, I don’t know, you guys conspiring behind my back.”

“Hey, it was worth it though, right?” Johnny asks and I look back at Colt and smile.

“Definitely,” I reply as they let go of us. I hold my hand out for Anna to look at the ring. She squeals and jumps on the spot and then frowns.

“Don’t jump when you’re pregnant. Gah. I pretty much just had a little bit of wee come out,” she says and I crack up into a fit of laughter.

“Hey, it’s light bladder leakage, it’s normal,” she says as she smirks at me.

Colt wraps his arm around my shoulders and pulls me to him. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go and make love to the woman I love and intend on marrying,” he says giving me goose bumps. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of hearing him say that.

“Say it again,” I say quietly.

He looks me in the eyes and smiles. “I love you, Lia,” he says and my lips crash back to his. I pull my lips away from him and back away taking his hand. He looks at me curiously and I smirk. “Now that we’re official we have to make some time for you to meet my m
um. I promised when I got out of rehab that I’d introduce you and life seems to have gotten in the way of that.”

“I would love to meet your mum, babe,” I say.

“Great I’ll set it up, but for now we have to wait for the rest of the band and then we can go and celebrate,” he says excitedly.

“We’re not waiting for the rest of the band, we’re getting a cab back to the hotel right now,” I say and start to lead him toward the nearest exit. He chuckles and we start to run hand in hand. The crowd wouldn’t have dispersed yet, so if we hurry we can get out before anyone knows we’re gone. I laugh as I run alongside Colt with his hand in mine and we get to the exit and he stops, pulling me to him.

“Just in case you’ve forgotten. I love you, Lia,” he says, leaning in to kiss me. I kiss him back and pull away.

“I love you, Colt, until the end of time,” I say and he smiles and we hold hands and open the door. We step out onto the sidewalk to see we’re right by the taxi rank. He smiles and tightens his grip on my hand, he looks at me and then I see his eyes shift over my shoulder. His smile turns to a frown and he pulls me to him. I turn around and see a massive wave of people running toward us. Fear cripples me and I can’t move.

“Baby, c’mon we gotta go,” he says pulling me, but the evil minion fans are upon us before I know it. They’re screaming and clawing at Colt while he’s trying to keep his grip on me.

“Lia, don’t let go,” he yells, but I can hardly hear him over the screaming. The crowd has swamped us and my grip on Colt’s hand is slowly being torn apart. Girls are pulling at him in every way possible and they’re pulling at me too, to get me away from him. I’m scared. I actually fear for my life as I look into Colt’s eyes and he looks scared as well.

“Colt, I can’t hold on,” I scream as they pull us further and further apart.

“Lia!” he yells as my hand is pulled from his and the crowd surges in between us. Colt is taken further and further away from me.

“Colt!” I yell as the girls pull at my hair and claw at my skin. I start to cry and I can’t see where I am going. I’m fighting them off as best I can, but I can’t see. I can’t hear anything other than screaming. The girls push me and I stumble into a clearing away from them, my veins fill with relief as I look up and see them standing on the side of the road all yelling and waving for me to come back to them. I shake my head and then realise I’m on the road.

“Lia!” I hear just as I look up to see a white van with metal tubing on the roof.

I’m being dragged away from Lia rapidly and I can’t hear her or get to her as hard as I try. I push and pull people out of my way, but more of the fuckers just keep appearing out of nowhere. She’s crying, when I see her face through the sea of faces. I can see her tears and anger builds up inside of me that I’ve never felt before.

I have to get to her and I have to do it now!

I push using my entire strength to ram forward. The crowd moves with me as I call out to her repeatedly. She doesn’t answer as her body is thrown around between those fuckers. When I get to them I don’t even care that they’re girls, I’m going fucking knock the bitches out. One of the girls pushes Lia and she stumbles toward the road.

“Lia!” I call out as she walks out disorientated into the middle of the road. My heart sinks in my chest as I look behind me to see a van speeding past. “Lia!” I call out, but she can’t hear me. My breathing stops as I use all my energy to move through the crowd. I’m so close to her, but the van is moving so quickly.

  Fuck!

  I’m not gonna make it.

“Get out of my fucking way,” I yell and push forward, but it’s like I’m in slow motion and there’s nothing I can do but watch.

I hear the screeching of the tyres and bile starts to rise in my throat as I see Lia thrown backward from the impact and then the metal tubing from the roof flies forward and slices into her stomach. I think I wretch as people scream all around me. I don’t care who I hurt I have to get to my fiancé.

“Lia. Lia. Fuck, Lia,” I scream as I run as fast as I can to her.

  She’s not moving.

  Oh God, I feel sick.

My feet aren’t moving quickly enough.

Why do I feel like my world has just ended?

I push past the girls standing on the side of the road and I rush out into the street and fall onto my knees at her side. The tubing has sliced right into her abdomen and there’s blood everywhere. Her right leg is twisted and she’s shaking while she holds onto the tube sticking out of her stomach.

“Lia, baby I’m right here. Jesus,” I say as I pull her hair away from her face. I don’t want to touch her in case I hurt her, but she’s pale and sweating.

“Call a fucking ambulance,” I yell as I caress her face.

“C’mon baby, don’t you dare leave me,” I cry out.

She opens her eyes and they’re glassy and wet.

“Hey. Hey baby, don’t you worry help is on the way,” I say and lean down pressing my lips to hers softly.

“Colt,” she groans as her hand comes up and touches my cheek.

“Don’t talk, save your strength. I love you. I fucking love you, so much. Why the fuck did I wait so long to tell you? Lia, I’m an idiot. But you’re going to be okay. You have to be, so hold on, okay baby?” I say as she starts to breath in very short sharp bursts. Her eyes roll to the back of her head. “No, Lia. Don’t you dare,” I say and take her head in my hands and shake her. She opens her eyes again and I lean down cradling her head in my arms.

“Colt,” she murmurs and I look at her while I lose my shit. “Until the end of time,” she says and then exhales and closes her eyes. I swallow hard and shake my head.

“Lia? Lia baby, open your eyes. Lia look at me, God damn it,” I say, but she doesn’t respond in any way. I hold my breath and start to panic. I look around for something, anything, but I have no idea what I’m looking for.

“Ahhhhhh,” I scream and then I hear the sirens. I caress her face and lean down and kiss her softly urging her to kiss me back, but there’s nothing.

“Lia, help’s here baby. Just hold on,” I say as the ambulance stops and the back opens and the paramedics rush to her side.

“You have to help her,” I say and he looks at me and nods. The other paramedic comes over with some equipment and starts doing some shit.

“What the fuck are you doing? For fuck’s sake, just get her to the hospital,” I yell and they ignore me and keep doing their shit. “Fuck!” I yell and throw my hands in the air.

“Sir, if you don’t calm down we’ll have to ask you to wait over there. We’re trying to stabilise her before we can put her on the stretcher. Let us do our job, please,” he snaps and I want to punch him in his crooked nose, but of course, I don’t. Lia wouldn’t want me to. The guy attaches a plug thing to Lia’s finger and a monitor starts beeping.

“Okay, there’s a heartbeat,” he says and I can instantly breathe again. Okay, at least I know she is still fighting. “It’s really weak, but we’re okay to move her,” he says and the other paramedic rushes off to get the stretcher.

“It’s okay, baby, they’re gonna fix you. You just hold on, okay?” I ask hoping that she’ll answer me.

  She doesn’t.

I just want to scream or punch something, or snort a line of coke. I want to be doing anything, be anywhere but here right now. The paramedic lowers the stretcher and they grab hold of her and lift her onto it.

She moans loudly and a shooting pain rips through my heart.

“Fuck, be careful,” I yell at them and they ignore me and raise the stretcher. They wheel her over to the ambulance and push her inside. I don’t even wait for them to ask me, I just step up and sit next to her. They close the ambulance door and we start the drive. I hold on to her hand as she gets whiter and whiter.

Why the fuck is she doing that?

The pole is still hanging out of her abdomen and the paramedic is listening to her chest with a stet
hoscope. He shakes his head and looks at the monitor that’s showing her heart rate. It’s slow, the beeps are few and far between, but I know my Lia, she won’t give up.

  Especially not now.

Not now that I’ve finally told her I love her.

She can’t leave me that would just be cruel.

“Lia, baby, c’mon I love you, I’ve always loved you. I will tell you every day a thousand times that I love you,” I plead with her as I caress her cheek.

My tears are falling on her face as I hear the beeping turn to a long squeal.

I look up and see a thin flat line.

  Oh fuck, she’s leaving me…
