  “No way.”

Suze came over and led her to the trio of mirrors stationed in front of a small dais. “Just look and you won’t argue.”

“Wait.” Elle ran over to her with a huge bag. “I got you something.”

“I think the shirt is enough, girlfriend.”

Elle waved her off. “No, this is your something new. I think you’ll like it.” She thrust the bag at her. “Look first. Before the dress.”

Denver opened the bag—and it was her turn to tear up. “Dammit, Elle.” She reached into the canvas bag and pulled out the silver-dusted Converse sneakers. They were snow white and dusted with sparkles.

She flicked off her usual Chucks for the bride version and stepped into them.

Instead of looking horrified, Suze made excited little fists. “So perfect!”

Denver stepped up onto the dais and her breath caught at the perfect tumble of lace and fluffy tulle. She traced an unsteady hand over the sash that matched her ring perfectly. She shook out the skirts and covered her feet, but she knew the shoes were there. And when she walked down that aisle, he’d see them just before she stopped in front of him in that little chapel.

“So, guys. I’m marrying my best friend on September twenty-fifth.”

“Yeah, you are.” Elle ran up to hug her. “You guys are going to be so happy.”

She touched her temple to Elle’s in the mirror. “I’m about to go broke for a wedding dress. My dress.”

“Maybe only a little broke,” Suze said from the floor.

Denver dashed away the stupid tears that had leaked out. “Yeah?”

  “Vera will be really pleased.”

“I think I might give my guy a heart attack. Think she’ll be pleased about that too?”

Suze laughed. “It’s her very favorite thing.”

They all laughed. Nikki popped the cork on a bottle of champagne as they did the paperwork. Thirty minutes later, as they were backing down the drive to the winding road that led her back to Ryan, she finally felt a piece of the urgency Ryan had been nearly vibrating with.

When Elle finally turned onto their street, Denver was tapping on every surface in the backseat.

“You all right back there?” Elle asked.

“Yeah. Just want to see Ry.”

“I’ll remind you of that when we’re driving through the square states again.”

Denver rolled her eyes. “Don’t remind me. Ryan gets cranky when we have to go long stretches without a break.”

“Mostly because he’s trying to get into your pants.”

Denver snorted as Elle came to a stop. She hopped out and flipped the driver’s seat forward to let them out. Lo hopped out and gave Elle a quick hug before running up the walkway.

  “Thanks.”

Elle’s bluebell eyes flooded. “Seriously. You gotta stop.”

  “All I said was thanks.”

Elle dabbed under her eyes with her wrists. “Dammit, I just fixed my makeup.”

Denver dragged her in for an impulsive hug. “Go. Get out of here, you two.” She waved at Molly. “Thanks for coming with us.”

Molly flicked her fingers through the sunroof. “I got to play with Vera Wang dresses. Day made.”

Denver turned to the apartment building and found Ryan standing in the doorway. She grinned and ran at him full out.

Ryan caught her with a grunt. “Hello to you, too.”

  “So, we’re gonna do this?”

Ryan’s green eyes sparkled. “Fuck yeah, we are.”

“I’m going to smoke your ass on September twenty-fifth, buddy.”

  “I can’t wait.”

She wrapped her arms around his neck. “I can’t wait to see your face.”

“You’re not coming down the aisle in jeans, right? I mean, I don’t care, but you actually found a dress, right?”

  “Possibly.”

He cupped his arms under her butt and lifted her higher. “I love you, Colorado.”

She looked down at him. “Yeah, I guess I love you, too.”

  About the Authors

USA Today bestselling author Cari Quinn likes music and men, so she figured why not write about both? When she’s not writing, she's screaming at men’s college basketball games on TV, playing her music too loud or causing trouble. Sometimes simultaneously.

USA Today bestselling author Taryn Elliott is obsessed with rock stars, men, and her unending playlists—maximizing these things seemed like a very good idea. When she’s not writing, she’s losing hours to hot men on TV, and/or a graphic design project. Multitasking is her middle name.

They decided to combine forces and found that hey...this writing deal is even more awesome when you collaborate with your best friend.

And so the Oblivion World was born.
