This was real. Sitting on the front step was the man Kristen had been agonizing over for years. He waited with determined patience, not fidgeting or pacing or showing any noticeable sign of anxiousness. He had traveled miles to find her, and he succeeded, yet, that notion made Kristen feel nervous all over again. What would she do with their uninvited guest? Would she welcome him with open arms and give him the second chance she wanted to give, or would she play hard to get, the way she had been doing, taking the easy route out of what could be a destructive and devastating disaster if gone wrong. From somewhere not far away she could feel Stacie’s eyes on her, watching Kristen as Kristen gazed upon the familiar face that made its nightly appearance in her dreams and a constant home in her mind, that curve of the mouth, shape of the nose, color of the eyes that could only belong to Timothy Beck. This was the moment that could make or break everything, and it all fell on Kristen to make the next move for better or worse.
