End of The World: The Beginning Page 11

“They want you to be so involved with your day-to-day activities that you ignore God’s warning, or worse, not know about it at all. As in Ezekiel, chapter fourteen, verse fourteen, ‘Son of man, if a country sins against me by being unfaithful and I stretch out my hand against it to cut off its food supply and send famine upon it …’ The passage continues, but I believe you see the synchronicity.

“The Order alluded to the recent violent weather event in Province One in the United Northern Provinces, as something they could control. That’s a claim to remain suspicious about. As for the hand seen by the entire world, we don’t know it’s origin, but feel confident it was one of these: An act of God to wake you up; a hologram to convince you to let the Order further control you and lead you astray; or demonic in nature and for the same purpose of control as the Order’s, which is aligned with demons and has been for generations. Look for the truth behind the lies. The truth will set you free.

“Ephesians, chapter six, verses eleven and twelve reveal the truth. ‘Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.’ We are engaged in an age-old spiritual battle that’s now approaching its fulfillment. We must fight with the right weapons, the weapons of righteousness in Jesus Christ. In the Second Epistle of Peter, he wrote, ‘His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.’ The end-time is near. It’s only by God’s grace through his son Jesus Christ that you can be saved. Wake up, brothers and sisters. Wake up before it’s—”

A high-pitched sound pierced the air. The four of us clamped our hands over our ears. The hologram flickered. The sound ceased.

An enraged Overseer Monroe gripped the sides of her lectern and said in a shrill voice, “We will find and deal with the anarchist who hacked into our system, and do so in accordance with the laws that address the illegal actions of anyone who disrupts the Peace for All Agenda. You saw the criminal use an image of the hand. He mentioned a hologram,” she snickered, “which is evidence that he alone, or with his fellow anarchists, perpetuated this vicious hoax on our world citizens. There is a substantial reward for anyone who provides accurate information about these criminal actions.”

Overseer Monroe made an obvious effort to calm herself. “If you feel the need for a mild sedative as a result of this atrocious attack on our citizens, place your order through KATE. We will provide a five-day supply to you free and as a priority. Have a peaceful day.”

My girls clung to me, wailing. I held them close and looked at Sara.

Sara said, “You’re wearing that odd expression again.”

There was no way I could tell her I’d recognized the voice.

Somehow, I had to find Michael.
