Football Notes
Hi Readers,
The World Cup I write about in Ten was the one held in Mexico in 1986. I know that many of you are too young to have watched those games. If you like, you can look up the games on YouTube and watch Zico miss the penalty in the quarterfinal against France, Maradona’s two amazing goals against England as well the fabulous final between Germany and Argentina.
The Wembley Stadium I describe in the book has been torn down. A new modern stadium has been built in its place. I really loved the old stadium with its twin towers because that’s where I saw Brazil play for the first time (a friendly against England). Brazil won 3 – 1.
My favourite footballer right now is Cristiano Ronaldo. I support Manchester United as well as Selangor, a Malaysian team who wear red and yellow jerseys.
You can email me on [email protected] and tell me who your favourite teams and players are!
Enjoy the football …
Yours sincerely,
Shamini Flint
