“I need to be inside you.” He barely recognized his own voice. Common sense jerked at him. His condoms were in his jeans pocket, on the floor in the other room. He swallowed. “I need to get a condom.”

“I’m on the pill. Are you clean?”

“Of course.” At any other time he might have been indignant at the question, but he recognized that she trusted him and felt warmed by it.

“God, Jake, I need you, baby.” With her hair slicked back, she made him think of a mermaid. He thought again of all the men who’d been hot for her tonight and knew he had to claim her again. He’d keep claiming her until she finally gave in and accepted the Mating bond.

Take her, urged his wolf, scratching inside him, eager and hungry. One last hard kiss, and he turned her to face the wall. He trailed his lips down her throat and ran his hands across her breasts. Her nipples pebbled under his touch and his cock throbbed in anticipation. She wanted this too. She spread her legs and bent forward, her hands flat against the wall. He could smell her arousal and when he moved down to cup her mound, she rubbed against his hand.

“Hurry, baby.” She panted the words. He complied. One swift thrust and he was home. Jesus Christ. The combined sensations made him dizzy. Slick heat surrounded his dick, squeezing his length and making his balls ache with need. He couldn’t believe how sensitive his cockhead was without a condom. It felt as though he would go off any second, and he had to try and slow it down.

Lillian moaned and ground against Jake’s pelvis. She was only a few moments away from an orgasm that might render her insensible. He teased and touched her, his tongue flicking against her earlobe, while his clever, talented fingers wrought magic farther down. Cupping one hand around her breast, he slid the other to her pussy. She jerked at his touch and moaned again. His fingers moved to her clit and circled it, making her gasp in pleasure. She wondered if he’d torment her all night like this, knowing how much she loved it.

“Jake,” she gasped, “so good, I’m so close.”

Water dripped into her eyes, and she shook her head, sending drops cascading outward. She’d never had sex in the shower before, but after this, it would be one of her favorite places. Jake sucked in a noisy breath and then just like in the dream-forest, he began to fuck her. She urged him on, leaned forward to take him deeper, and then reached behind her with one hand to stroke his cock as he pumped in and out. He jerked beneath her touch, his breathing shallow and rapid.

“Baby,” Lillian groaned. She was impaled on him and had never felt anything so perfect.

“Who.” He thrust deep. “Is.” Out again. “Fucking.” In hard. “You?”

“Jake—” She cried his name as she felt the first ripples of her climax, the tremor before the eruption that threatened to rip her apart. God, he was incredible. He dipped his head, and she felt him close his mouth around the soft tissue at the base of her neck. When he bit, she screamed in pleasure, her body clenching and gripping as she came, seconds before his own release.

They sat in a tangled heap in the shower cubicle, and Lillian felt sure her legs were still too wobbly to support her weight. Jake had the presence of mind to reach up and switch off the water. The sudden quiet seemed deafening.

“I missed you.” She blurted it out, but it was the right thing to say. His answering smile was a thing of beauty.

“Have you had enough time now?” He smoothed the wet hair back from her face and kissed the damp skin that he’d uncovered. She understood the question. She’d asked for more time and he’d waited. It was still early days, but yes, she was ready to take this further.

She stole a kiss. “In the ideal world, what happens next?”

Kisses rained across her face, dusting her eyelids and dancing across her chin. She felt him reach for her hands, twining their fingers together. “We have an official mating ceremony. A wedding as well, if you like.” He paused and smiled at her. It soothed her nerves.

“I know you are the woman for me, Cariad. I crave you with every cell in my body. I want to stand by your side and share your life, to give you babies and a home. To protect you against all danger. To love you and care for you until the day I die. To be your Mate and your partner. Will you accept my claim?”

The words rolled off his tongue as though he’d practiced them. He waited for her to reply, his jaw tensing as she sought the right words.

“I have to finish this tour first.” A muscle ticked in his cheek and she felt a burst of tenderness. “I get very lonely on the road. Would you be able to come with me? It’s only a few weeks.” His face lit up and she placed a finger across his lips. “After that, I’ll go home with you. I still have commitments, but I’m not planning any more tours. I’m done with being on the road.”

“And I’m done with being apart from you.” He nuzzled at her throat and she felt his teeth graze over her skin. She knew he’d bitten her again—and now understood the significance. He’d marked her as clearly as placing a ring on her finger, and she loved it.

“Can I claim you too?” She snapped her teeth at him and he grinned.

“Cariad, you already have. I was yours the minute you opened the door to me.”
