“I will.” He kissed her cheek, chuckling. “I’ll even take you for that burger, so you don’t have to listen to Ricki bitch.”

  “Sounds like a deal.”

She grabbed the trash can. “Let’s get to work.”

“You bet, baby girl.” He nudged her when he went by, cackling when they tussled a little over who would go first.

Mouse was a doll, even if he was skanky. He wasn’t Cotton, though. She couldn’t wait until ten.

  Chapter Twenty

Cotton smoothed his shirt down one last time before heading into the software place Emmy worked as her third job. Those people would stare at him harder than the tattoo artists or the little pussy of a photographer. Sometimes he wanted to tell Emmy it went both ways. Her co-workers made him feel stupid, country, unsophisticated.

Cotton grinned. Good thing he had a healthy ego.

He saw Emmy before she saw him and she seemed tired, but so pretty. She was wearing a red and white polka dotted dress with a little bitty white sweater deal and amazing red heels and hair like his granny used to wear, way back in the fifties. She purely took his breath away. Cotton grinned wider, sticking his hands in his back pockets to keep from grabbing her when he walked over.

Those pretty dark eyes met his, then they lit right up, his girl grinning at him. “Cotton!”

She had a tiny necklace on, one that he’d sent from Denver with a single pearl and a little diamond. It looked so fine against her skin.

“Hey, honey.” He did the gentlemanly thing and bent to kiss her cheek softly, not even making a dent in her make-up. “Am I early? I been chafing at the bit.”

“I think you’re right on time. Let me get my purse.”

Another little gal came over, and Emmy grinned at her. “Cat? This is Cotton. Cotton, my friend Cat.”

They shook while Emmy headed toward the back. “So you’re the bullrider, huh? She talks about you a lot.”

“Yeah?” He sure hoped that was good. “She’s my girl.”

“She’s a hoot. She let me come to one of her photo shoots for the web site. Wow.”

“Well, at least you’re a woman.” Lord, that website thing was gonna be the death of him.

  “Yeah, well… She looked amazing.”

“I know. She’s a fine-looking woman.” He tried for a grin, shrugging. “It just makes me a little uneasy, is all.”

“Yeah. I told my girlfriend there was no way I’d let her do that.”

“You did?” Huh. A girlfriend. That distracted him for a few seconds. Then the question he should ask registered. “What did she say?”

Cat shrugged, winked. “She said that if I didn’t want her doing it, then I’d better help her make sure she didn’t have to. I mean, how fun can it be, to know a million guys are jerking off staring at you?”

“Not fun.” Not to him, anyway. Cotton bounced on his toes before rocking back on his boot heels. Maybe he just needed to tell Emmy what for.

“You ready?” Emmy looked so happy, just shining. “I’ll be back late next week, honey.”

  “Have fun!”

Emmy hooked her arm in his. “We’ll need to stop at the house so I can change and pick up my little bag.”

“Sure. Jeff at work?” He didn’t want to have to pop the man in the nose.

“I think? He’s been busy.” She sure hadn’t said much about Jeff lately.

“Well, there you go.” He patted her hand, leading her out to the lot and his truck. He’d gotten her a coffee like she liked, and since it was a long drive, he’d gotten her one of those fancy molded pillows.

“Mmm. I smell coffee.” She leaned over, kissed him. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome, honey.” Ordering a soy latte with extra whip was enough to make a cowboy quake in his boots, but for Emmy, he’d do it.

She oohed and aahed over the coffee, chattering at him all the way to the little house. “You want to come in, baby? I’m going to put on jeans and more comfortable shoes.”

“Sure.” That way if the ass was home, he wouldn’t be able to put doubts in Emmy’s head.

The place was perfect, quiet, creepy. Em took his hand and led him upstairs to a tiny little bedroom that was an explosion of color and clothes and girl.

“I like what you’ve done with the place.” It was so much her, and he was so damned relieved.

“It’s a little less Martha Stewart, huh?” She winked at him, stripping off her shoes and turning her back to him. “Sometimes I think he’s gay. Unzip me?”

“Sure.” God, yes. Please and thank you. Skin.

She slid the dress down her arms, then over her hips. She was wearing pink panties with lace at the top, along with this garter belt thing holding up her stockings. Her little bra matched, and when she turned around to face him, he could see the rings in her nipples, pressing against the lace.

  Rings. Hallelujah. “You changed back.”

“I did. You like the rings.” Em met his eyes. “I like how you like the rings.”

“Good. I do. Like them.” Now seemed like a good time. “The pictures bother me.”

“I know. I’m hunting for something else, and I told Mitch no on the whole ball gag pictures. That made me uncomfortable.”

“Ball what?” What the hell was that? Jesus. That sounded bad.

“You know, baby. One of those big rubber gags? I’m not going there. It’s like…too close to porn.”

“Gag. Like a curb bit or something?” You only did that to horses if you were an asshole.

Emmy nodded. “Yeah, sorta. I mean, it was just for a shoot, but…I didn’t want to.” She seemed vulnerable for a second, kinda. “That’s cool, huh?”

“Honey, I want you to quit. It makes you uncomfortable. It makes me crazy. We can find a way to pay the bills.”

“I don’t know.” She pushed into his arms, soft and warm and loving him.

“I do. No more gag thingies.” No more red butts or hanging out boobies.

“No. No gags. Kiss me hello, Cotton.”

“Okay.” That he could so do. Cotton grabbed her around the waist and pulled her close, kissing her hard.

Her skin warmed under his hands, sweet as could be, and she moaned so pretty into his lips. Damn. He could get busy. Of course, the prospect of Jeff busting in made him reach back and lock the bedroom door. Then he set to unhooking her bra while she tried to drive him crazy with her kisses.

When he finally got his hands on her, Cotton moaned. Yeah. Oh, her skin was so soft. “Missed you.”

“Me, too. I keep dreaming about you, about your hands and how you smile.”

“Yeah? I can’t sleep so good without you.” Cotton laughed, nibbling at her neck. “It’s bad when I have to sleep doubled up with Packer.”

“No snuggling with other cowboys, now.” She patted his ass, giggled.

“I know!” Cotton shut himself up by pouncing and kissing her some more.

God, he loved how happy she was, how eager she was. He’d never met a girl that was so into him, into touching and making them both feel good. Cotton went after her panties next, wanting to touch her, taste her. Smell her.

Em worked his shirt open, then his buckle, her fingers cupping his cock through his jeans. His body went on high alert, making him rise up on tiptoes. “Emmy.”

“Yeah, baby? God, you feel good.” Her nails slid over his balls.

“I… You, too.” He didn’t know what he was gonna say, so he didn’t. He might just explode.

“Good. Want you.” She slid down, working his jeans open as she went. Those pretty lips looked so good against his belly, right above his dick.

“That’s good, honey. Because I’m ready.” Like a bottle rocket, ready to go off.

She nodded, her chin nudging his shaft as she worked his jeans down.

“Christ.” He tugged at her hair, knowing he was gonna mess up her careful do, but he couldn’t help it.

Her laughter tickled him, but any amusement disappeared when her
tongue slid up along his shaft, then over the slit in the tip of his cock. Fuck, that was enough to make a man blow. Cotton held on by a thread, feeling like he needed to keep his shit together a little longer.

“Love you, baby.” She took him in, held him in her mouth for a long couple of seconds, then started sucking.

“Em. Oh, God, honey. You rock my world.” He’d told her that before, but he meant it every time.

Her hair came loose, pouring down around her, tickling his thighs. Cotton moaned, rocking back and forth, pushing into her mouth. Oh, he was gonna make her feel so good. He was always willing to give as good as he got, and this was good. Better than good.

She made him feel like the finest man on earth.

The tip of his dick nudged the back of her throat, and she swallowed.

“Em!” Cotton lost it. He would last longer next time. He so would. Em let him ride through the whole thing, then let him slowly slide from her lips.

“Oh, honey.” He stroked her hair back off her face, smiling down at her. “I’m gonna tear you up.”

“I love when you make those promises.”

“You know I keep them, huh?” He did. He was a man of his word.

“I know.” She kissed his palm, let him help her up.

“Come on.” He took her to the bed. They had plenty of time to get on the road.

He spread her out, let himself just admire. She was still toned, still firmer than she’d been when they’d met, but her tummy was peeking back a little, and he loved it.

“I was thinking about getting my bellybutton pierced.”

“Yeah? I don’t know, honey.” That was going to be painful when she got pregnant.

She chuckled. “That’s what Mouse said. I told him I’d let you decide.” She touched her stomach, right above her curls.

“Mmm.” Such a pretty belly. Cotton bent and kissed her skin, just above her hand. She smelled so good, like home. “I love how you smell, honey. Love how you taste.” He licked at her middle, her fingers.

“Missed you.” He knew that. She told him every night on their call.

“Mmmhmm. More.” Cotton nudged her hand out of the way, moving lower.

“Please…” She spread, wanting him so bad.

“Yeah. Yeah, honey.” Licking his lips, Cotton bent those last few inches, kissing her intimately. His sweet girl… Fuck, she needed him so good. He closed his eyes so he could breathe her in and concentrate on how good she smelled, how hot she was. Then he licked, going right for that tiny clit. The ring slipped on his tongue, sliding up and down. Cotton moved it around, closing his lips over it to pull. Oh, fuck, he’d hear the sound she made in his dreams for months. He slid two fingers inside her, loving how her muscles fluttered and jerked around his touch. She was wet, tight, and was going to feel like heaven around his cock.

He could wait, now, though. Wait until he drove her a little crazy. He moved his fingers, in and out, in and out. Her hips rolled, bucking up into his face, and when he tugged that ring again, she cried out his name. Cotton slid his fingers in a little harder, letting her feel him. Stretching her. It had been long enough that he’d bet she needed some prep.

  “Don’t stop. Don’t stop, baby. Please…”

“No.” He said it against her skin, against her wetness, his lips moving gently. He flicked his tongue against her again, then again.

She came in waves, calling out for him, jerking then twisting to get more. Sweet baby girl. Cotton waited until she stopped shivering before he moved. Yeah, he wanted to take it all in.

“Cotton…” Her breasts moved with each breath, and her lips were wet, swollen.

“Mmm. Honey, you are the most amazing thing going.” He could just explode, he was so proud she was his girl.

“You make me fly.” She reached up for him. “I want you inside me now, huh?”

“Now. Yeah.” That was gonna be a good thing. Very, very good. Cotton lined up, marveling at how fast he’d gotten hard again. She wrapped her arms around him, her legs, welcoming him in.

“Emmy. You feel like heaven.” He could stay right where he was forever. Well, except he couldn’t, ’cause he had to move. She moved with him, legs squeezing to tug him in deep. His balls drew right up, his ass clenching. Damn. Damn. He held on, gritting his teeth.

“Cotton…” Emmy was watching him, loving him.

“Yeah. Oh, Em. Love you.” He did. He’d never said it like this, even though most guys did at random.

“Love.” She pulled him down into a hard, fierce kiss.

Cotton moved faster, pushing inside her, rocking back. He wanted everything. Now. He felt her, shaking, vibrating around him. He couldn’t help himself. He bit her lip, just a little, letting it sting.

His girl groaned and came for him, her body clamping down on him like a fist.

Moaning, Cotton jerked, doing his little victory dance when he came. Jesus, he could just do this the rest of his life.

Em held onto him, lips soft against his.

  He thought she’d let him.

  Chapter Twenty-One

She slipped off her shoes and left them in the floorboard so she could curl up next to Cotton and watch the road fly by. “I do like your truck, baby. It’s comfy.”

“I spend enough time in it, huh?” He gave her that little grin that made her heart trip up every time.

“Yep.” She let her hand rest on Cotton’s thigh. “Jeff has one of those little cars. I hate riding in it.”

“I bet it’s a hybrid. All veg.” Cotton wasn’t sneering. Much. Bless him, he just disapproved of Jeff.

“I don’t know. It’s little and not yours.” She didn’t care, really, not right now. Right now she was with her cowboy and on vacation. They were going to New Orleans. How cool was that? The event wasn’t for three more days, so they were stopping at someone’s house for dinner. Landon something.

She was wearing jeans and a little halter top with a sweater over the top. She’d let Cotton pick it out. It was fascinating to see what Cotton loved to see her in. Of course, he loved it best when she wore his clothes. That just seemed to make him crazy. She had one of his flannels, still, to wear around when she got chilled.

Cotton grinned over, but only long enough to catch her eye. He’d learned to keep his eyes on the road for her.

“Did you want to meet my brothers for a coffee or something?”

“Sure, honey.” There was the sound of panic. She had to stifle a terrible case of the giggles.

“They’re nice, and I promise I didn’t tell them terrible things about you.” Much. She might have cried a lot.

“Well, if they try to kick my ass, they try to kick my ass.” He laughed a little, patting her hand.

“They won’t.” She didn’t think they would. She grabbed her phone, called Terry’s assistant. “Lisa? Hey, it’s Emily. Are either one of my brothers available around two for coffee?”

“Hello, Emily! It’s so nice to hear you sounding cheerful.” She could hear the click of long nails on a keyboard.

“Thanks. My…” She glanced over at Cotton. “My boyfriend is taking me to New Orleans, and I wanted to introduce him to the twins.”

“Wonderful! They can have coffee at two-thirty. Does that work?”

  “Is two-thirty cool, baby?”

“Sure.” Cotton glanced at the clock on the dash. “That gives us plenty of time.”

“That’ll work. We’ll meet down in the Mojo’s at the corner. There’s good parking.”

“I’ll tell them. Make sure they bring me back an iced mocha with double whip.”

“I promise. I heard you were getting married to that gymnast guy. That’s pretty cool, huh?”

“It is. He’s very bendy. Holler at me if plans change.” Lisa was such a neat lady.

She hung up, chuckling. “It’s all set.”

“Well, there you go.” Cotton tapped out a beat on the steering wheel. “I think you’ll like Landon.”

  “Yeah? Have you been
friends long?”

“Nope. He’s a new kid. I always feel for them, you know? It’s hard to break in.”

“I know that. I’ve been working games since college, and…I’m working as a pin-up girl.”

“Yeah. No.” He glanced at her, serious as anything. “You were.”

“I was?” She arched one eyebrow, trying to decide whether she was angry or not.

“Yep. It’s an executive decision. You don’t need to do that.”

“It makes the bulk of my money, Cotton.” She could be mad, but…it was getting a little out of hand and she didn’t want to, not anymore.

“We’ll figure something out. I told you. I got that one buddy wants a website for his breeding program.”

“I’m not sleeping with Mitch, Cotton. You know that, right?” Surely he knew that.

“I do. I just don’t think it’s right, you having to do that for money.” His chin jutted out.

“You saying that you don’t like the pictures?”

“I like them fine. I’d love them if they were my personal Christmas gift.”

Oh. Oh, that… Yeah. She blushed, grinned. “Which one do you like best?”

“Hmm? Oh, I like the one that looks like that old movie poster. The one with your back turned.” He grinned, “With you looking over your shoulder.”

She beamed. “I was so scared, the first time.”

“Well, you’re my beautiful girl.” He patted her hand again, lingering a little.

“I am, although I’m going to get fat again, just from being happy.”

“Honey, you were never fat.” Cotton chuckled. “I could put you to work on the ranch.”

That made her giggle. “Right. I was so useful there…” God.

“Honey, there’s lots you could do.” Cotton gave her an evil grin. “I could just put a stripper pole in my room.”

  “Butthead!” she cackled.

“That would be cardio, right?” He cackled right back. “You could come to the gym with me.”

“Okay.” She could do that. She was good at it.

  “The boys would go crazy.”

  “Is that good or bad?”
