Chaos Mortalitus Page 9

by Mark LaMaster

The strands move slowly from the energy source, this secluded pool high upon the mountain's edge. Within the face of these manifestations I fall to my knees relinquishing myself to this final insanity. I've finally had enough as my arms fall to my side, my eyes fixed forward unable to look away from the strands of energy that begin to form something. Locking together they build a solid structure, dancing wildly as they mold an image right before my very eyes, giving off heavy illumination. The shape begins taking form; a human type figure yet nothing about this thing seems familiar.

Strands of liquid energy build the figure before me as the ripples about the pool slowly fade, returning now to the calmness from moments ago. Above the pool floating right in front of me, a figure composed entirely out of energy, birthed from the now calm pool below. Facing upwards the figure seems to extend its arms a bit, giving off a specific glow as its outer surface seems like liquid trapped in a solid form. Its eye sockets glow brightly and nothing is human about this, yet somehow it's starting to seem frighteningly familiar. Moments pass as the figure and I just stare toward one another, eternity in this pause with the creature remaining silent as it hovers.

Gliding over the surface of energy it walks slowly, no real defining features, like a man on fire it seems. Continuing straight for me, I examine the creature remaining there on my knees in the crystal sands. Has madness come to over take me all together, to claim this heart of mine? Like nothing a million lifetimes could experience, this figure glowing brilliantly comes to a stop as it exits the pool standing directly in front of me. I realize that the creature has no eyes yet I know it can see me, this thing is intelligent having planned this moment for longer than I know. After continuing the examination for a few more moments the silence is broken between us. "Welcome, Ashton Mortal."

The crazy thing about all this is the fact that the creature doesn't actually speak, I'm not sure it even has a mouth yet I hear its words clear as day as if somehow it speaks to my mind. "You've gotta' be kidding me! I've completely lost my mind!" The only thing I can think to say, the only thing I'm positive about.

"I'm afraid not Ashton, you are quite sane at this moment."

"Really! You think so huh! And what the hell are you supposed to be, a glowing energy man?" I ask trying to make sense of all this. "Are you on fire or something?"

"I am many things Ashton Mortal, there are many explanations, many versions of what I am." The figure replies with a soft tone. "I am all things known."

Staring back at this exaggeration of reality, I feel myself become lost in this quickly growing insanity. "What do you mean?!?!" I scream at the figure. "These riddles, what do they mean? Tell me who you are!"

"There are no riddles here for you Ashton, only truth."

"WHO ARE YOU?!?!" I yell at the figure as I rise to my feet, this moment a hallucination at best.

  "I am the Creator."

"The creator of what?" I feel myself tremble as I walk the edge of insanity. "Where is your creation? I mean…what the hell are you creating?"

"I am the Creator of all things known, all things in all places."

"What?!?! So are you God then? Am I dead?" I ask not caring for the relevance of the answer.

"Many names have been given to me from every corner of existence, like I said there are many versions of what I am. You are still very much alive Ashton Mortal, I assure you." The Creator says walking closer to me, staring me up and down as if he thought I might somehow be different, that maybe I should be different.

"It is so interesting the different combinations produced, at this point I've learned so much about your life force and my own origins. This task at hand has gone on for so long and finally the time has come."

A look of bewilderment, this feeling of a dream you cannot wake from as I stare at the energy being. "What are you talking about? The time has come for what?"

"Ashton Mortal of the human planet Earth, you are the evolution of liberation, the middle ground, the one to change everything if you choose."

"What? This is too much, I mean how do you even know me? What do I have to do with any of this? I'm a nobody, a painter."

"My child of the universe, I am your creator, along with everything else in the known universes. You Ashton, are the most important part of this saga, the reason why the 10th day in your lunar month of March is a day you shan't forget. The moment you truly opened your eyes to the chaos of existence and finally returned to your birthplace."

"I'm totally lost now. Is it still March 10th or what? This makes absolutely no sense. I haven't got a clue to what you're talking about."

"Time has no meaning here, this is the birthplace of time." The Creator replies. "Before time, before all things to come, this place remains constant as the foundation of all existence."

"What do you call this place?"

Turning from me, the figure walks around the pool of energy to the edge of the mountain's end where the energy pours into the massive ocean from its outlet. Hesitating a moment, I then follow the figure to the edge as we stare out onto the breathtaking sight. Standing side by side I feel warmth generated from this glowing creature as we watch the raging waves that stretch on forever. "Father. I call this place Father."

"Why Father?" I ask. "Why did you choose that name?"

The figure just stares at the gliding waves below looking for something as the tides of infinity rise. "I too was born here Ashton Mortal. This is my home, my father I imagine."

"Born here?" I thought you said you created everything. How could you have been created as well?" I ask very confused.

The figure turns its gaze toward me, or at least faces my direction. "We have much to discuss my friend from long ago, much to discuss."

"You speak to me as if you know me. How is that possible? How do you know me?"

"I do know you Ashton Mortal as you know me. Before this day, from another time." The figure responds. "You are my truest friend, my only friend."

"What do you mean by that, another time?"

"Like I said, there is much to discuss. Follow me Ashton.

The glowing figure heads back around the pool it emerged from upon the crystal beach. Coming to the pool's center the figure stops, staring at the liquid for a moment or at least acknowledging its presence. "Are you alive?" I ask breaking the silence.

"Yes, just a different kind of life I suppose, possibly the first kind. I know the endless secrets of infinity, of the known universe yet there are still stories that remain unread. Very similar to you Ashton, I too awoke on these shorelines an eternity ago feeling much like you do now."

"But we're so different, I mean I don't even know what you are."

"I suppose I am something that happens in a dream, the miracle of eternity, the first of my kind and I same as you, exist infinitely within Father. I have evolved the same as all forms of life in the physical realm. Father is the true creator, I am merely the consciousness."

Pieces slowly begin to fit together as we stand on the crystal beach, deciphering the mysteries of creation. "Why have you done this? Why did you create anything at all? Please, I must know."

"Crawling from this pool so long ago, I sometimes ask myself the same thing. One moment there was nothing, the next I felt life coursing through me. No reason, no explanation, just existence. I do not exist within the same concepts of life as yourself, more so as a catalyst for life, a host if you will. I am not alive in the same sense as yourself merely the reason your reality exists, but I did not begin this story, I've simply become its narrator."

"This can't be real! And here I stand with you, feeling your presence, your power, this sincerity. Strangely enough I feel we have known each other for some time, that somehow we've done this before. So tell me then, what makes me this liberation you speak of? What am I?"

"You are my first creation Ashton Mortal of the planet Earth, the purest life form. Your molecular structure has evolved over billions of years until now. We are built exactly the same Ashton, you are my
essence in physical reality, my way to leave the shorelines of Father and tend to my creation. Evolving consistently since the dawn of space and time, your design is mirrored from my own, spread throughout the known universes of creation so in essence your quantum structure is the blueprint of all forms of life. You are my contingency Ashton Mortal, my ace."

A look on my face like nothing I could ever imagine as I rub my head trying to take everything in. "It seems like right when I'm starting to understand, you lose me all together." I reply puzzled.

"Father has given me infinite power to manipulate all things in all places, to define creation however I see fit. It's taken lifetimes to understand exactly what I am, but I do now…I did then. Your existence is to ensure no oversight had been made, in case things spiraled out of control I could use you to enter into the physical universe to stand at the side of those who so desperately need to be reinforced. At the time I had no idea what I was creating, but finally I realized what was accomplished. Watching the trillions of life forms in infinite parallel universes born from this pure molecular structure that is finally perfectly synced within you Ashton…"

"Your design has been creating, learning and retaining its distant memories. You are the one that can finally right the wrongs of eternity, of myself even." The mysterious figure explains.

Standing with the figure chills race down my spine, for I'm starting to understand this manifestation is far to complex, to perfect to be crazy. I'd like to imagine that if I was losing my mind all together I wouldn't be so self aware of the fact. The craziest moment I entertain in my life, these moments where my heart missed a series of beats and I began to ask myself what if this creature is telling the truth? What if this place is exactly what it says it is? Am I ready to deal with the truth, am I ready to accept what's in store for me?

"Upon my first awakening on these shorelines they were very plain, covered with the energy crystal shards from the roar of the waves as they continue their endless journeys across infinity, at the time absent of life and purpose. Endless voids of nothingness, until I created you and it is within these waves that the universe you were born to resides and all that mirror its reflection, your reflection Ashton and my own. Welcome to infinity my son." The glowing figure says.

"This is infinity, this place is the source of all things?" I ask the figure that stares back at me with empty sockets. "This is Father?"

"Yes, the waves that dawn the shores below are all things known, your universe and all others share the ocean of Father. We all exist within Father as his raging seas form your physical world."

The figure points to the colossal ocean of energy at the base of the mountain's edge and I finally understand what it means, this place is his creation. Surrounding us on all flanks, the flowing energy that is Father and our universe that exists within his bounds. "So you're saying there is more than one universe?" I ask. "That there are many?"

"Yes, through the countless universes and reflected possibilities your molecules have gone through a constant state of rebirth in the hopes of achieving the liberated state unified within you now. Billions of years, countless probable scenarios and the grandest of sacrifices so you might evolve into the one that unifies all things in all places. Hearing the repetitive tune of these cries of injustice, I must now rise to arms in defense of my children, but I can't do it without you. I can only bond with you and if you choose this, it can never be undone. We will be one always and finally I can leave this place. Time is truly of the essence, we must make haste."

"Why now? Why are these particles suddenly in the perfect state of molecular fusion within me?" I ask intrigued by the possible answer. "Why not some counterpart from another one of my so-called lives?"

"You have traveled to me before, long ago, billions of years before this date yet to a premature fate. This evolution was not yet completed, so I made sure that you would have the right amount of time to mature through your many trials into the original idea of liberation, finally able to control this awesome power. You and I are the same Ashton, you were born into physical fabric and now are finally liberated, finally equipped to wield the force of creation."

So much to take in, to understand and with such ease this creature has solved the mysteries of the universe. "What power do you speak of?" I ask. "What must I do?"

"Once you are awakened Ashton as a man you will be unstoppable, having powers very similar to my own and together, no force in existence will be able to stop us. Right now the battle for control over the known universes existing within Father rages forth. Rebels fight against an evil empire, set on conquering everything within their grasp. The same villains that conquered and eradicated your followers long ago, a tragedy from one of your many reincarnated lives. I will stand by no longer, but we must hurry for some secrets allude me still."

"Many make their last stands in these moments as the seconds tick by, with the diligent fights slowly winding down as their spirits are shattered, broken at the core. Yet out of the ashes of billions of years of oppressive chaos, we begin a conquest of our own. To take back this universe and all who mirror it and finally right these wrongs of the past. To create the vision I've only dreamed of until now. Together we can change all things Ashton." The figure inspires my heart with words that shake the foundation of my soul as it turns its focus away from me.

"Why did you do this? Why even create anything at all and don't tell me the story of this Father crap! Why did you do it? Nothing made you!" I respond emotionally without thinking. "Just because you wield the power doesn't mean you should be the one to use it!"

Returning a stare in my direction once more, silence echoes through the air as the figure again turns its back to me facing the open valley that holds the large monuments. Walking up the shore a bit the mysterious creature stops just before the crystal shards begin their metamorphosis into the white sandy beaches. Following him slowly, I still maintain a decent distance awaiting his response. "I used this power for selfish reasons, for I no longer wanted to be alone. Dreaming of a friend, something to make this loneliness bearable."

"I never imagined the possibilities that could come forth, never knew the severity of their consequences. Sadly, with infinity involved anything can happen within Father and it was merely a matter of time. It isn't the best cause, but it was this lack of companionship that helped me to create the physical reality that all living beings hold so dear to their hearts, I just fear the possible side effects. The dreams of all beings in all places and now I face these choices from another lifetime. Now I wish to break the chains that bind the weak, sever the hold of those who would corrupt my design, those sapping the ideals of reason that I've worked so hard to preserve."

"To those of darkness, a force beyond imagination begins to take shape. To those who would defy righteousness seeking to undo all things pure, these embracers of chaos, we will unite to face them in this final battle."

"And you think that you and I can save all these infinite universes together huh?" I ask with a snicker. "Just the two of us?"

"Not you and I alone. We will inspire the hearts of goodness, the will of the righteous and the strength of those who stand in defiance of tyranny. Together we will build an army like none before it and conquer this universe with all that mirror it back from the wicked. In the name of peace we ride, but only if you choose it Ashton Mortal. The fate of existence for all sentient beings is in your hands my friend from long ago, my equal."

Turning back toward me the figure's words ignite a fire inside my heart, this dream I've dreamt for all time. The figure reveals the undying truths of all things on this calm breezy day in a place beyond time and space, a place few have ever seen. "What about my life, everything I am? I have a wife and a child on the way! I can't save the universe!" I reply with my mind made up. "I have to take care of them, turning my back is not an option for me."

"Understand this Ashton, if we do nothing they will face the same fates as so many before them. You will lose your family and all yo
u care for if you do not heed this warning. What I ask requires sacrifice, true suffering for all time even but your strength comes from the stars, your heart beats through the eons. Destiny has come to your doorstep this fateful day; the choice for freedom is yours alone for this is your world. For now, I am merely along for the ride."

"Why does it have to be me damn it! Why was I chosen for this? I can't remember any of these things you speak of, I know nothing of these evils that go to conquer our universe. How can I do what is needed of me, how can this be?" I ask afraid of the response.

The glowing figure, this creator that claims friendship walks right up to me, nose to nose with the man on fire. He stares at me straight in the eyes, energy seething from its aura, emulating a glow like nothing I've ever seen. I watch its shape shift subtly, the liquid energy coursing through the figure, a marble pattern over its body like a pale toned fire, rich with vibrancy. "Are you ready to know the truth Ashton Mortal? Ready to see with your own eyes the task at hand, the king you once were and your final road back to the throne? The molecules in your body will show you their secrets from eternity. Are you ready to become your true self?"
