The Boy Next Door

“She’s drunk,” Eden rolled her eyes. “She thought you were going to see some ex-girlfriend or something, so she got wasted tonight.”

Patrick shuffled his feet and looked at the ground. He hadn’t thought about how Katie would react after the phone conversation, and now he felt like a total dick.

“I wanted to surprise her. Can I come in?” Patrick’s eyes pleaded as he reached up to rub the back of his neck.

Eden backed up and let Patrick come through the door, “I’ll give you two some privacy.”

She grabbed her blanket off her bed and made her way down the hall to the commons area to crash on one of the couches. Patrick came in and placed a duffle bag on the floor by Katie’s bed. A frown marred his face as he took in her sleeping form. He leaned down and kissed her temple, trying to rouse her from her drunken sleep.

She stirred slightly and blinked her eyes open, “What? Patrick? What are you doing here?”

“I came to see you. I told you I was going out of town, I wanted to surprise you,” he whispered and smiled down at her.

“But,” she groaned as her head spun slightly from the alcohol.

“It’s ok baby,” he leaned in and placed a kiss to her lips as she relaxed back into the bed.

“Oh I missed you so much,” she sobbed. “Please don’t leave me,” she begged as she clung to his shirt.

He climbed up on the bed beside her and lay down next to her still fully clothed.

“Hold me?” she begged as she pulled the edge of the comforter back.

Patrick was conflicted. He wanted so much to snuggle under the covers with her, but she was drunk. He didn’t want to put them in such a tempting position with her inhabitations lowered.

Katie saw his eyes dart back and forth, “It’s ok.” She reached for his hand and tugged it, “Stay with me.”

Patrick pulled his sweatshirt off and tossed it to the floor along with his jeans, shoes, and socks. Once he was stripped down to his boxers, he climbed over her and positioned his back against the wall. She slid back next to him and snuggled into his embrace. When Patrick reached around her, he realized she was only wearing some sleep shorts and a cami. She turned slightly in his arms.

“I missed you so much. I don’t think I can do this much more,” she craned her neck to kiss him.

“Shhhh, let’s not talk about this right now. We’ll discuss it in the morning,” he returned the kiss and pulled her into him tighter.

Katie sighed and deepened the kiss as she pressed herself into him, groaning. Patrick started to pull away, but Katie reached up and pressed her hands to his cheeks, pulling him further into the kiss. “Not yet,” she whispered. “Please not yet.”

She ran her hands down his bare back, kneading the muscles as she went. Patrick groaned and rolled to his back effectively pulling her on top of himself. As her body draped over his, his cock stirred to life. His hands ran down her back, cupping her bottom, and pulling her hips into his.

“I love you,” he gasped as the kisses began to go deeper.

“I love you too,” Katie panted. “Touch me,” she begged as she sealed her lips over his once again.

“Are you sure?” Patrick paused and broke the kiss. “You’ve had a lot to drink tonight.”

Rather than answer, Katie rocked her hips against his erection, causing him to groan in pleasure. Patrick rolled them so she was now under him. When Katie began squirming under him to remove her panties, Patrick froze.

“Ummm,” he squeezed his eyes shut trying to get control of himself.

“Touch me,” she begged again as she tossed the panties to the floor.

Patrick hissed and swallowed hard as he glanced down at her, her eyes glazed over with passion. He slowly trailed his hand down her side, over her ribs and flat belly, making his way to her center. He wanted to make love to her so bad, but he knew that if she hadn’t been drinking she would never let that happen.

When his fingers grazed her center, he felt the wetness and paused to gather his control.

When she felt him stop, she arched her hips into him and released a moan. That was all it took to get Patrick to move. First one finger slowly slid in, as she writhed beneath him, a second one soon joined.

“Oh god…Ahhh…don’t stop,” she gasped as her back bowed off the bed.

Patrick covered her lips in another deep kiss to muffle her sounds as he worked to help her find her release. When she slumped back against the pillows with a dreamy smile, he grinned in male pride.

Before he could move off her, she reached up and wrapped her hands around his neck pulling him closer to her. She placed a deep kiss to his lips as she began trailing her hands down his back. She could feel his still throbbing erection pressing against her thigh and her resolve to wait was slowly crumbling.

When she reached the waistband of his boxers, she pushed them gently over his hips. He reached for her wrist and wrapped his fingers tightly around it, stilling her movement.

“I want to touch you,” she whispered against his lips.

Patrick knew they were getting carried away, but hearing the pleading sound in her voice caused him to give in to her request. When he felt her wrap her fingers around his shaft, he almost lost it. His hips bucked, and he gasped in pleasure.

  “Patrick,” she mumbled.

  “Hmmmm,” he groaned.

“Do you…ummm…do you have a condom?” she whispered as she tried to seal her lips over his while she stroked her hand down his length.

Patrick broke the kiss and pulled away. He reached down and pulled his boxers back in place and rolled to the side. As he lay there on his back, he scrubbed his palms over his face.

  “What’s wrong?” she gasped.

“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but we can’t,” he groaned. “You’ve been drinking and I know you don’t really want this,” he panted as he fought to control himself.

“Maybe I do,” her eyes were glazed over. “Don’t you want me?”

“Oh baby, more than you realize, but trust me when I say, this is not how our first time is supposed to be.”

A hurt look spread across her face. She turned her back to him as a sob left her body.

“Don’t cry. I love you. I’m trying to do the right thing here. Tomorrow when the initial excitement has worn off you’ll feel different,” he leaned over and kissed her shoulder.

  “I’m sorry,” she whined.

“Let’s just go to sleep,” he whispered. “We’ll talk tomorrow. I’m gonna be here all weekend if you let me,” he smirked.

“All weekend?” she smiled a lopsided grin and reached behind herself to grab his hand.

  “All weekend,” he repeated.

She pulled his arm around her and rested it against her stomach. His fingers flexed, and he slid up flush to her back. He leaned over and placed his head right above her shoulder.

“Sleep, we’ll talk tomorrow,” he whispered as he let a yawn escape.

The two drifted off to sleep in each other’s arms. Katie hadn’t felt so secure or happy in weeks.

  Chapter 9

Sometime in the late morning, Katie began to stir. She shifted slightly and as she felt him pressed up next to her, the night before came flooding back. She glanced over to the other side of the room and noticed that Eden had completely covered herself in the bed. She hadn’t noticed when she had come back, but apparently she’d decided that she needed sleep and her bed was more comfortable. Katie stretched and a smile spread across her face as she remembered Patrick telling her he was staying all weekend, but just as quickly as the smile appeared it was replaced by embarrassment. Had she really begged him to have sex with her? He’s been so good about not pushing me, and then I have to go and do that she thought. What have I done?

He soon broke her out of her daydream, “Morning.”

“Good Morning,” she yawned. “I’m sorry about last night.”

“Don’t worry about it, just remind me not to try and surprise you anymore
,” he kissed her on the forehead.

Katie blushed and turned to face him, “That’s not what I meant. I’m sorry I tried to push myself on you last night. It wasn’t fair to you,” she buried her face in his chest as embarrassment flooded across her features.

“Don’t be,” he shook his head and put a finger under her chin. “You were drunk and I stopped us,” he brushed her hair across her face tenderly.

“I know but…” she fumbled and averted her eyes.

“No buts…I would never knowingly let you do something that I thought you might regret. I love you…and I want to be with you more than anything, but I want you to make that decision when you know that you’re ready,” he placed a gentle kiss to her forehead.

“I love you too. I always thought I‘d wait, but I want to be with you…so bad. I mean…we‘re in love, isn‘t that enough?” she pleaded.

“That’s a decision you’re going to have to make, but I will tell you…I wish that I had waited,” he sighed as he rubbed his eyes. “My ex, she didn’t want to wait. She had me convinced that it was the next step for us. I’d never been with anyone before, and being a horny guy, I couldn’t tell myself no. She told me she was a virgin, too,” he rolled to his back and huffed shaking his head.

Katie looked at the pained expression on his face and mumbled, “You don’t have to tell me.”

“Yeah, I do,” he glanced at her from the corner of his eyes. “Anyway, Sarah had me convinced that this was something new for both of us. Later I found out it wasn’t. She’d been with someone else…more than one someone else,” he groaned. “I broke up with her when I found out that she’d lied to me,” he frowned as he looked over at Katie. “I’m sorry to say she’s not the only girl I’ve been with, but you always remember the first.”

“That’s why I want it to be you,” she trailed her fingers down his bare shoulder.

“I want it to be me, too, but not like this. You deserve a fancy hotel with lots of candles, scented soaps, and fancy sheets. All that romantic stuff…not a single sized bed in your dorm after a night of drunkenness.”

Katie blushed as she averted her gaze from him. “Can I ask you something?” she rolled so her back was to him. She didn’t think she could be this bold and look him in the eyes.

“Anything,” he leaned in and kissed the side of her neck right below her ear.

“What’s it like…sex?” she mumbled barely above a whisper.

“Ummm...” he stammered. “I’m sure it’s different for a guy than it is for a girl.”

“I mean…what was it like…the first time,” she tucked her chin down to her chest in embarrassment wishing she was having this conversation over the phone instead of in person.

“Short and awkward,” he chuckled. “I didn’t really know what to do. From what I’ve heard, it can be painful for girls.” He leaned in toward her ear and turned on the charm, “But I’ve been told I’m really good with my hands…and mouth.”

She giggled at his playfulness, “Well I can’t wait to find out.” Rolling over and wrapping her arms around his neck, she kissed him softly, “Thank you for stopping us.”

“You’re welcome…reason will always win out over desire with you. I love you too much for it not to,” he groaned as she pressed into him.

She giggled, “Could you tell your friend that, too?” she pointed to his obvious morning arousal. “He doesn’t seem to agree with you.”

Patrick’s cheeks grew red as he threw his head back and laughed, “That’s normal. This,” he pointed to his head, “and this,” he pointed to the tent in the sheets, “don’t always agree. But this,” he pointed back to his head, “always wins. Trust me!”

Katie burrowed her face into his chest and laughed. Changing the subject, she mumbled, “So you’re really staying all weekend?”

“Yeah, as long as I can stay here. I don’t have anywhere else to go,” he smiled at her.

Just then Eden stirred in the bed, “Could you two take your sappy make-up session somewhere else? I’ve heard more than enough already. You’re killing me over here.”

Katie had completely forgotten that they weren’t alone. She picked up a pillow and tossed it at her, “I haven’t seen him in six weeks. Bite me!” she laughed.

Later in the day, Katie took Patrick on a tour of the campus. She wanted to show him all the places that she had talked about in her emails and on the phone. Patrick glanced around nodding his head and taking in all the sites that she pointed out.

Out of the blue, he announced, “I’m thinking about transferring.”

  Katie stopped mid-stride, “What?”

“I’m thinking about a transfer,” he looked at her. “I love Harvard, don’t get me wrong. It’s always been my dream, but I think I could be just as happy here,” he smiled at her open mouth expression.

“Wait, you’d give up your dream for me? I can’t let you do that,” she shook her head. “I miss you something awful, but if you came here and didn’t like it, I’d always blame myself.”

“I didn’t say I was going to, just thinking about it. Maybe next year,” he leaned in and kissed her temple. “So, what’s on the agenda for tonight?”

“What would you like to do? We could hang out on campus, or we could go into the city. Have you been to NY before? I could show you around,” she smiled as she bombarded him with questions.

“Why don’t we have dinner somewhere, and then you can show me some of the places you used to go before you came to Boston?” he hugged her sideways and smiled while placing a kiss to the top of her head.

“Sounds great. Let’s go back to the dorm so I can change,” she began walking back to the dorms pulling Patrick along behind her.

  ***

After they had changed into nicer clothes for a night on the town, they walked down to Central Park.

“When I was little, Mom used to bring me here to run around and chase birds,” she giggled as they ambled along a path. “I always thought if I was quiet and quick enough, I’d be able to catch one. I wanted to have a pet so bad when I was little. Our apartment wasn’t big enough to have one though, and Mom worked crazy hours so no one was home to take care of it.”

Patrick made a mental note that one day he would get Katie that pet she always wanted. It might be years away, but he’d be the one to make that dream come true.

“It’s really pretty here, you’d never know you were in the middle of the city,” he smiled down at her as she smiled up at the sky.

She leaned into his side as they walked along a path and headed in the direction of a small pond. Katie and Hannah had been to the park together recently and spent a lot of time sitting on the benches around the pond talking and laughing. Katie wasn’t really paying attention to where Patrick was leading her and when she looked up her mouth gaped open. Parked along the paved trail on the other side of the pond was a beautiful horse and carriage. A footman dressed in tails was sitting nearby waiting for whoever might come along. Patrick looked over at Katie lost in her own world and smiled.

“What’dya say we ride the rest of the way?” he smirked. “Have you ever been on one of these before?”

“No,” she gasped. “No one’s ever asked me,” she stared wide-eyed as Patrick paid the footman and helped her climb in.

“We can take this around the rest of the park and get dropped off at the restaurant. I’ve got just the place in mind,” Patrick smiled softly at her.

  ***

Katie smiled and settled herself in the seat as Patrick climbed in. She snuggled up next to him as he wrapped his arm around her and kissed her temple.

“Thank you,” she smiled. “No one’s ever done something so sweet for me,” she blushed.

“I’m not just anyone. I love you,” he kissed her again, this time on the lips as the carriage lunged forward.

She sighed and snuggled closer as the conveyance pulled away from the edge of the walkway. After riding for quite some time, the carriage pul
led over and the footman hopped down. They had arrived at their destination, a small pizza shop called Brickz. Patrick helped Katie climb down, and they thanked the driver and made their way inside. The hostess sat them in a quiet corner booth in the back. It was a nice pizza shop with all sorts of gourmet pizzas on the menu. The walls were exposed brick and wine bottles decorated much of the surfaces. Red candles on white and red checked tablecloths adorned the tables.

“I hope this is ok. I saw an ad for it when we were walking around campus,” Patrick grinned.

“Yes, this is great,” Katie looked around taking in her surroundings. “They have great pizza from what I’ve heard. I’ve never been here.”
