“What… the fuck?” I asked as I looked at everyone in the room.
“Look, Bishop is in Miami,” Glory said.
“I was fucking with him and he asked me to babysit this kid but I swear I didn’t know until an hour ago when I called Glory for help. Bishop set me up…”
She explained everything that had happened, showing Glory and I the videos in her phone.
“That’s one dirty mothafucka,” Glory said as he sat on the bed and shook his head.
“I gotta kill him, or he’s gonna kill me,” the girl said.
“Nah, I’ma kill that mothafucka,” Glory said.
“This shit crazy,” Pinky said.
“Why you ain’t been told me this, Milo? I’m there all the fucking time, and this nigga been there too. I’ve been looking for that nigga, man,” Glory said.
“I didn’t know what to do,” Milo said and shrugged.
“So, I guess I don’t owe him no money no more. We just need to find him and kill him,” I said.
My phone started to ring, it was an unknown number. I decided to answer.
“Who the fuck is—”
“Shut up, bitch, and listen.”
“Bishop?”
“Put him on speaker,” Glory whispered.
I did.
“Yeah, bitch. I want my money. I moved the date up.”
“I’m not giving you shit. PJ is with me now. You dead, mothafucka. You hear me? You are so fucking—”
“Divine, please… he’s going to kill me.”
“Malina?”
“He got me,Divine. I shoulda listened to you. He got me. We’re at—” She tried to talk really fast to tell me the location, but Bishop cut her off. I heard him slap her.
“Bitch, shut the fuck up!”
“Help me, Divine! Please!” she yelled.
“Bishop! Don’t hurt her! Please!” I yelled.
I started to cry and so did PJ. Glory, Pinky and Milo put their heads down.
“Oh yeah, and I upped the price now. I want three mill. You got two weeks.”
“That nigga dead, Divine. Word to Allah. He dead. You hear me?” Glory said as soon as Bishop disconnected the call.
I tuned him out. It all felt like a dream.
“I gotta get to Cali,” I said.
Took three steps forward just to take five steps back.
Chapter Thirty-Nine
Milo
Three days later…
“If you don’t bring ya funky ass in this club tonight, I’m gonna fire the fuck outta you,” my boss yelled as the sun beamed in on me. We were still at the hotel until things died down a little. Glory told us to lay low while he looked around for Noodle, Jenson and Monty, but the streets wasn’t talking.
“I can’t, man.”
“Be here… tonight!” he yelled and hung up on me.
“Fuck!” I yelled and threw the phone at the wall. How in the hell was I supposed to be shaking my ass when I had all these people looking for me? Though he didn’t know that, he wouldn’t give a damn no way.
“Why he steady calling?” Pinky asked as she exited the bathroom in her robe.
“Because he’s a dumb ass.”
“How are you feeling? You look like shit,” she joked as she sat on the bed and rubbed lotion on her body.
“Sounds about right. I miss PJ though,” I said as I sat up and yawned. I had grown attached to him and his good morning kisses. Though I only had him for a few days, that was enough to know that he was so full of life and joy.
“Anything from Bishop?” she asked.
“Nope. He just wants me dead, seems like. He ain’t called me or anything.”
“I just can’t believe he that damn dirty of a person.”
“I can. You shoulda seen the way he killed Shyro. Just cut the nigga’s life short for no reason at all.” I left out the part where I fucked him right on top of Shyro’s body. That didn’t matter.
“Man, we had his crazy ass all up in our house. Glory ass crazy enough.”
“Glory crazy, but not like Bishop. Bishop kills for absolutely nothing, and he does it like it’s as easy as breathing,” I said as I grabbed my toothbrush.
I was tired of being in this hotel. I wanted to go out and do shit, but Glory strongly recommended that we stay inside until he killed all them niggas or at least found out where they be at.
“Did you ever fuck Ash?” Pinky asked.
“Hell no. You saw the way that nigga was eating that dick up on camera? I’m so glad I didn’t,” I said as I threw my hands up to say Hallelujah.
“So, Glory and I had a threesome with his bitch from Dallas.”
“What? I knew that nigga had a bitch,” I said, acting surprised.
“Yeah, she came over that night all that shit happened and called herself confronting me.”
“And how did that turn out with y’all fucking?” I asked in a state of confusion. “Like, what? Fuck you bitch, you been fucking my man. And you was like fuck that she fine so I’ma fuck them both?” I laughed.
“No, it wasn’t anything like that. Shit, she wanted to know who I was and Glory introduced us. He kept it too real and I couldn’t do anything but respect him. But he did confirm that he would stay in my life, he just wanted to be with her.”
“And you cool with that?” I asked. She did all that voodoo just for that nigga to put her on the side in the end.
“Yeah, I’m cool with that. I like the distance that we keep. It makes me miss him even more, so the sex be so good when we finally see each other. I don’t think I’m ready to be with anyone for life. You know?”
“I feel you.”
“But that voodoo must really helped me. That nigga told the bitch straight up that he wasn’t leaving me alone. And asked her if she still wanted to be with him.”
“And what she say?”
“Don’t remember. We fucked after that though. All three of us.”
“Seem like Glory the one got Voodoo on you bitches.”
“He might. Like I told him and her, I just want that nigga in my life. He just does something to me that I can’t explain, but I love it. I feel so safe and secure with him.”
“I guess. You sound sprung.”
“Been sprung.”
I smirked. “You sprung enough to share a nigga?”
“I guess so.”
“Guess I’ma be single forever.”
“Nah, I got a nigga for you,” she said.
“Who?”
“Just chill. I got somebody.”
“Who?”
“I was thinking about asking Glory to put you down with Poppi.”
I smiled so bright that it probably lit up the room. “Think Poppi would like a stripper hoe?”
“You’re not a stripper hoe. You’re so much more.”
“I know, but you know how niggas talk. Like, nigga you fucking with that stripper hoe?” I laughed as I imitated the average Dade County hood nigga. Maybe that was my problem; I always wanted a hood nigga. Maybe I needed businessmen who don’t know shit about no bricks or anything.
“Don’t think like that. I got you, though.”
“If you can pull this off, I will love you forever,” I said as I blushed.
“You will love me forever regardless, just like I will love you,” she said.
“You working tonight?” I asked.
“I’m not leaving you here alone. I will go to work when you go.”
“Cool. I still got that money from the night the club was packed, so we will be straight. The rest at the loft.”
“Guess we gotta chill and watch movies all day like the old broke times,” Pinky said, throwing her pillow at me.
I laughed. “Room service?”
“You know it.”
Chapter Forty
Neiman
The next day…
“I just wanna sleeeeeep,” I groaned the minute we entered our condo.
Immediately after getting PJ back, we hopped on a flight to Lo
s Angeles to cop more bricks from Chola. Divine explained to her what was going on, and she didn’t hesitate to send us back with more bricks. She sent us back with so much that Divine and I had to drive separate vans on the way back with the seats removed in the back.
We could never bring all of those bricks to the condo, so Glory and Lu Lu helped us dump the bricks in a locked storage in the suburbs. Of course we put some bullshit furniture in there so bricks wouldn’t be the only thing in the storage, and we kept them in boxes. Glory and Lu Lu also triple wrapped them in plastic and duct tape for the smell.
“What you doing? Get up,” Divine said as she walked in with PJ on her hip.
I had just plopped down on the couch. We were so happy to have PJ back that we even took him on our drug trip. Chola loved him. So did Jinx and Johan.
“Just a ten minute nap,” I moaned.
It took us longer to drive back because the weather was crazy this way and that way, so we kept having to stop, but we never stopped for long. Maybe for a few hours, but it kept adding up.
“No, get up,” she said as she put PJ on the couch and let him eat his Happy Meal.
“Why? Ain’t we just gonna give it to Glory and let him work it?” I asked.
“Do you want some money or not?” she asked.
“Yes.”
“Well, stop complaining and get the fuck up! We got people to meet, and moves to make. Glory only copping his half that I promised. Then Lu Lu. Then Kipp. And some more niggas. We don’t have time to sleep. We need to network. That’s a lot of bricks in that storage.”
“But remember what happened last time we called ourselves handing bricks out. Our faces got fucked up,” I said.
“I’m not about to let that one time scare me. I got my guns, and Malina is not about to die ’cause you fucking scared. If you in, come on and get dressed. If not, I can make this money alone and spend it alone.”
“Why you even wanna help her anyway? The bitch a snake,” I said. I didn’t understand Divine. I thought we were done with Malina.
“Bitch, what? I’m not about to let my mothafucking cousin die over no nigga. You would, but I’m not. Fuck outta here,” she said as she tossed her shirt on the couch and went into her room.
“I’m just saying. You heard what I heard that night on the phone. She was plotting against you.”
“But Malina would never let me die. It’s in our blood to want to branch out. Anyone would want to be a boss one day and not work under someone forever. Use your head.”
“I don’t know...” I said.
All of a sudden, Divine came rushing out her room and stormed into Malina’s room. Next thing I knew, my clothes were flying toward the front door. “What the fuck, Divine?” I asked.
“Get the fuck out. I’m so fucking sick of you. Go back to Dallas,” she said, throwing out everything that I had bought while in Los Angeles and Miami.
“No, I’m not leaving,” I said as I started picking my clothes back up.
“Oh, yes you are. I’m not about to have you complaining and shit all in my mothafucking ear. One thing about Malina, she always had my damn back. No matter how it went. I can’t deal with you,” she said.
“But I do have your back. I just want you and I to be as careful as possible. We have PJ back now, and from what you said Milo told you, Bishop got people all over. So what if we die the minute that money touches his hand?” I asked.
“You let me worry about that,” she said walked back into her room.
“Okay, Divine,” I said as I put my shit back into the closet.
“That’s what I want you to do this whole time. I want you to shut the fuck up. I love you to death, Neiman, but you got one more time. Just one more. I know I said that before, but I mean it this time. I will send you back. I…. will… not… let… Malina… die. I don’t give a fuck about her and Slick. She is my blood. Fuck outta here with that bullshit,” she said. Since her room was directly across, I could see her fumbling through her clothes to find something to wear.
“I understand. I’m with you,” I said as PJ came and gave me his bag to let me know that he was finished.
I totally understood where Divine was coming from. Just like she didn’t want Nyssa to die, even after finding out that PJ belonged to AJ, I had to respect the fact that she went hard for all of us… all on her own.
Chapter Forty-One
Divine
“Thank you so much,” I said to Glory as we dropped off his bricks at one of his trap houses.
Him, Kipp and Lu Lu had split up, so I still had a lot more trips to make. I just decided to hit him off first. Though Glory was copping major bricks from us, he agreed to also put money in on Malina’s ransom. So did Lu Lu and Kipp. On top of that, he told me that his plug wanted to test my bricks out, so he wanted to cop some. The way it was looking, we would have Malina back in no time.
“Stop thanking me. I should thank you. Niggas out here eating again. Shit, I might move down here instead of hustling in Texas. I’m getting way more money. Shit, I might even take a few bricks down to New Orleans too.”
I laughed. “Do ya thang,” I said. We were sitting in the van talking while Neiman was inside the trap letting PJ use the restroom. She called herself trying to potty train him.
“So what’s up?” he asked.
“What you mean?”
“Well, one of my niggas seen you when you first pulled up and wanna know what’s good.”
“So, what that mean?” I asked.
“What’s good, nigga?” he asked with a cheesy grin on his face.
“I got a bitch,” I said.
“Who?”
“My plug. That’s my bitch.”
“Who? That crazy ass Chola bitch?” he asked.
“Yeah.”
“Maaaaan, I met her once with Bishop and never again. She coo coo for cocoa puffs,” he said with his index finger swirling around his ear.
“She means well,” I said as the rain started to come down.
“Well, you can’t have friends?”
“I don’t need friends, I need money right now. Who is the nigga anyway?” I asked.
“You saw the nigga that pulled off in the Mercedes G550?”
I had to think about it. “The Matte black one?”
“Yeah.”
“I didn’t see his face, but what’s up?”
“That’s my nigga Ali.”
“I don’t want another dope boy,” I said, rolling my eyes.
He smirked. “Good, cause my nigga Ali a legit businessman. Went to college and everything.”
“Yeah? What he do, and why he hanging around you niggas?”
He laughed. “That nigga took over his dad’s business. He owns almost every car dealership from Miami all the way to Tallahassee. That’s why he always got the best whips. That’s what he known for. That nigga rich and ain’t never touched drugs in his life. Shit, he was born into money. Before his dad died a few years ago, he left everything to Ali and Ali’s brother, Jihad. The car business ain’t even all. Them niggas own shit over in Ghana too. That’s where their family is from.”
“Yeah?” I asked unimpressed. I was still going to try this shit with Chola. Crazy and all.
“Hell yeah. He ain’t no dope boy at all, love. That’s really why I’m so cool on him trying to get at you.”
“So why he hanging with the dope boys?”
“That nigga just cool as fuck. That’s my nigga. We go way back. My mother used to fuck with his dad.”
“Damn. His daddy had hoes all in New Orleans?”
“Chill.” He laughed. “But nah, my mom used to be wildin’ back in her younger years. She was always taking trips to Miami with her girls, and that’s how she met Ali’s dad. And then she started taking me with her to play with Jihad and Ali. Even when he broke it off with my mom, Ali and I stayed cool.”
“What about Jihad?”
“That’s my nigga and all, but he don’t really fuck with me like that no more. He
thinks he too good or some shit. He hangs with the upper class. I don’t know. But I gave Ali ya number,” he slipped in.
I playfully hit him.
“Glory! Why you do that?” I asked.
“Do what?” Neiman asked as her and PJ climbed in the back seat.
“Glory playing cupid.”
“Yeah? That fine ass African dude?”
“You saw him?” I asked her.
“Yeah, he was leaving when I was going in. He’s cute as hell.”
“How you know he African? That nigga was born here. He talks like us,” Glory said.
“He had a slight accent. You can tell he grew up around Africans,” Neiman answered.
“Whatever.”
“What’s up, lil’ nigga?” Glory asked PJ as he reached back and started tickling him.
“Don’t tickle him,” Neiman said.
“Yo, Glory, we out,” I said as I started the ignition.
“Bet. Be looking for that nigga’s call,” he said as he hopped out and tapped the hood before he jogged into the house.
“What was that about?” Neiman asked as we drove off.
“Nothing. Nothing at all.”
Chapter Forty-Two
Malina
“Bishop,” I said as I lay in the floor parched to death. Ever since we made it to this run down motel, I had only had a taco to eat with half of a Sprite. I was weak.
“What?” he asked. The sun was just going down, and I couldn’t go another day with no food.
“I need to eat. Divine won’t pay you if you let me die,” I said.
“I guess you’re right,” he said as he tossed a slice of pizza, and a day old burger on the floor. Then a bottle of water came flying toward me. He had one arm and one leg cuffed to the metal railing at the bottom of the bed. With all the strength I had, I ate the pizza first. He laughed.
“What?” I asked.
“You. You’re just pathetic,” he said as he hopped up to change the channel.
“I need to take my shower today,” I said.
Though I still had my clothes in the trunk, he kept me in this white motel robe. I honestly feel like the only reason he allowed me to bathe everyday was because he wanted to fuck me every day. Every fucking day.
