“Yeah that’s what I thought. Now please get in the truck so that I can take you home, take my ass back to Newark, and you can have your happily ever after.”
“No, I’m not gonna do that.” I stepped close to Hakeem until we were inches apart, and I looked into his eyes to see behind the anger and the disappointment.
“You’re here, right?”
“What does that matter? Does me being here change the fact that you’re moving on?”
“Does it?” I asked.
Hakeem’s eyes fell on me as he clenched his jaw. The sun caught his hazel eyes and they lit up.
“Get in the truck, Tay.” Hakeem turned away from me and opened the passenger side door. He kept his eyes on me the entire time, waiting until I finally obeyed and climbed in. He followed and then drove down the block to my apartment building. After he parked on the street in front of my building, he shut off his truck, got out, and opened the door. I sat there until he opened my door and waited for me to get out.
Without a word, we made our way to the my 7th floor apartment. I opened the doors and stepped inside while Hakeem turned the lock and stood there looking around, like he was undecided about what to do next before he finally walked over to my bed and sat on the edge.
“What do you want me to do, Tay?”
I dropped my bags on the table, walked over to Hakeem, and positioned myself between his legs. He didn’t move; he just looked up at me but, he wanted me; I could see it all over his face so I climbed on his lap, straddling him and placing my hands on his shoulder.
“I want you to show me that it matters, show me that you missed me, and show me that you care.”
I leaned in to kiss him, and he resisted at first but he eventually gave in and kissed me back.
“You’re the only one who has my heart, Keem. It’s always been that way. It’s always going to be that way.”
Hakeem just stared at me so intensely that I felt uncomfortable under his gaze, but that changed the second he stood and flipped me over onto my back. Without anther word, he began removing my clothes, but kept his eyes on me the entire time. When I was completely naked, a smirk spread across his face as he let his hand slide down my chest, grazing my stomach before he dropped to his knees and spread my thighs apart.
“Is it just your heart that belongs to me, Tay?”
Hakeem’s fingers found their way inside me, and he slowly began moving them in and out.
“Is it?” he asked again, just before he let his tongue glide across my clit.
“All of me,” I said as I closed my eyes and let my back arch, trying to control the feeling that was moving to my body.
“You promise?” he asked, but didn’t wait for an answer because he began letting his tongue do things to me that only he could. It didn’t take long before I exploded and Hakeem was on his feet again undressing. I watched as he unveiled his perfect body and when my eyes fell below his waist, I smiled. I was ready to feel him inside me.
“The fuck you grinning for?” he asked with a smirk as he wedged himself between my legs.
“Nothing,” I said as I lifted my head and kissed him.
“So this is nothing.” Hakeem forced his way inside me, causing me to bite down on my bottom lip to keep from saying anything as my body adjusted to his size, causing him to let out a cocky laugh.
“Yeah, that’s what I thought.”
Hakeem let his arms go under my legs, bringing them up over his shoulder as his rhythm picked up. He kept his eyes on me, watching my reaction to the way he was controlling my body, and that shit was so intense that it didn’t take long for my first orgasm to surface. After I regained control, he pulled out and turned me over, pressing his body against mine as he entered me from the back. I knew him, and he was trying to control himself. He wasn't ready to come yet, but I was going to make him. I rolled my waist and he gripped my neck, burying his face into my shoulder but he couldn’t hold on, and I smiled as his body tensed up and began to pulse. A few seconds later he collapsed onto me, damn near crushing me with his weight until I started to squirm beneath him, causing him to roll off me, pulling me with him.
He let his hand tangle through my hair as he smiled. “Why did you do that shit Tay. You knew I wasn’t ready yet.”
I laughed. “Do what?” I knew exactly he meant.
“Oh, so you’re playing dumb now?” He kissed me on my lips, and then my shoulder.
I kissed him once more and then climbed out of bed. I walked over to my dresser and picked up a hair tie before I pulled my hair into a ponytail on top of my head. Hakeem watched me, grinning the whole time
“Why are you smiling at me like that?” I asked.
“Cause you’re sexy as hell.”
“So are you.”
I walked into the bathroom and Hakeem was right behind me, and after we were both dressed, we got cozy on my sofa. I was sitting sideways across his lap while his hands were around me, resting under my shirt.
“Stay with me tonight.”
“I didn’t bring anything with me,” Hakeem said.
“So, we can go shopping.”
“I thought you had a party or some shit like that.”
“Go with me,” I said, knowing that he wasn’t going to want to go. It was an industry thing, which meant that it was basically a bunch of models and photographers, drinking and talking about their projects.
“Come on Tay, you know that’s not my thing and I don’t think you want me there.”
“I wouldn’t have asked you if I didn’t want you there.” I knew I was frowning, but I couldn’t help it. I didn’t want him to leave.
“Is your little boyfriend gonna be there, because you know that shit isn’t gonna fly.”
I hadn’t really thought about that. I knew that Jace would be there and as far as Jace was concerned, we were a couple. Hakeem wasn’t the kind to share, and he damn sure wasn’t going to fall back and watch me be around another man.
“He’s not my boyfriend.”
“So if you step up in there with me he’s not going to have any type feelings about it, because you know me Tay and I don’t play with what’s mine, so if he’s on some fuck shit I will deal with him.”
The seriousness in the way Hakeem looked at me almost had me rethinking my decision to want him there. I didn’t know how Jace was going to react, but I damn sure knew how Hakeem was.
“Let me worry about that.” I knew I was basically screwed, but I figured that I could figure out a way to make it work.
“Aight, but you know how I deal, Tay. That’s something that’s not going to change, so don’t put me in a position to where I have to regret my actions, because you know me and you know how I operate.”
“I know and I wouldn’t ask you to go if I thought it was going to be a problem. Just trust me.” I let my head fall back so that I could look up at Hakeem. I grabbed the back of his neck, pulling his face towards mine, and kissed him. I had no idea how tonight was going to play out, but I damn sure hoped I hadn’t just royally messed up.
Hakeem
“Yo, what time are you heading back?” Jodie asked the second I answered.
“I’m chillin tonight. I’ll be back tomorrow.”
“So I see your ass decided to find Tay,” Jodie said, and then laughed.
“Hell yeah, and she’s got my ass up at some over-the-top party with a bunch of skinny ass women following me around, like they haven’t had dick in years.”
“Damn bruh, send me the address. I can get with that.”
“Nah, this isn’t your scene. There’s nothing in here but a bunch of high class thirsty ass females who keep staring at my shit, but if you want to bring a few kilos over here then we can make some money for sure.”
I looked up just in time to see Tay smile at me. I was out on the balcony while she was inside talking to several women I assumed were models, her boss, and the white guy I met at the shoot. I winked at her before she let her focus fall back on the group she was with.<

“Damn, it’s like that,” Jodie said, and then laughed.
“Bruh, you have no idea. I feel all out of place and shit.”
“Nigga you shouldn’t be. You’re a fucking street King and you’re in a room full of high class fiends. Your ass should feel right at home. Go sell some shit.”
“Jodie, you’re dumb yo.”
“Shit, I’m telling the truth, fuck that.”
“Did you call me just to clown or did you need something?”
“Nah, you’re good. I just wanted to holla at you about Rasta, but we’ll talk when you bring your ass back across the bridge.”
“Aight bet. I’ll hit you up when I’m heading your way.”
“Tell Tay I said what’s up and make sure you name that baby you’re about to make after me,” Jodie said, and then hung up so that I couldn’t respond.
I slid my phone in my pocket and looked around. I couldn’t help but notice how Tay was totally in her element. These people in here had mad love for her, and it was evident the way they flocked around her begging for her attention. My baby was talented and beautiful. It made me smile watching her do her thing.
“So you’re here with Tasia.” I felt a hand graze my shoulder, and then slid down my arm so I turned to see who was all up in my personal space. I didn’t play that shit without permission, even if it was a female. I looked right into a pair of green eyes housed in an olive face. I had to admit, shorty was bad as hell with her curvy body and pouty lips, but I knew better than to disrespect Tay by entertaining whatever this chick was offering, and she clearly had an offer on the table. I could feel her vibe the second she touched me. I caught her wrist and held her hand away from my body.
“Yeah I am, and if you know that then you should know better than to be in my personal space. That’s disrespectful, ma.”
She chuckled a little before she flashed me a seductive smile. “No disrespect. You were just so damn sexy I had to come make sure my eyes weren’t playing tricks on me.” She was extremely bold, which further confirmed that I needed to get away from her.
“Oh I’m real ma, but I’m also taken so it was nice to meet you, but I need to get back to my date.”
“Looks like she’s occupied right now.”
Shorty nodded towards Tay, and my eyes followed. Tay was now alone with some buffed dude who was a little too close to her for my liking. I could tell from Tay’s body language that she was uncomfortable, and the second her eyes met mine I knew exactly who dude was. My body temperature rose about ten degrees within a matter of seconds.
“See you around sexy,” Shorty yelled as I took off in Tay’s direction.
I walked right up to Tay, and placed my arm around her waist before I kissed her on the neck, after which I stared dude right in his eyes. I could see the confusion and jealousy as he stood there trying to figure out what was going on
“Who’s this?” Dude asked.
Tay’s body stiffened, and she tried to inch away from me but I tightened my grip around her waist. I warned her about this shit, so now she was about to deal with the consequences. She had just better hope that dude was smart enough not to try me.
“This is Hakeem,” she said.
“Hakeem?” he questioned, “Did I miss something, Tasia?”
He was 38 hot. I could see it all over his face, but it also let me know that he was feeling Tay a little more than I expected, so it had me wondering how much she was into him.
“I’ll let you guys talk,” I stepped away from Tay, but made sure I let him know that I was allowing the conversation to happen. I kissed her on her lips one last time, even though I was anything but happy as I walked away. I could feel her watching me while I made my way to the bar.
“What can I get you, sir?”
Hennessy straight and a beer.”
The guy behind the bar nodded before he placed a beer on the counter, and then grabbed a glass. After he poured my drink, I lifted the glass, turned it up, and then placed the empty glass on the bar before I grabbed my beer.
I leaned back, making sure I kept my eyes on Tay. She would occasionally look up at me, and I knew she was worried. Hell, she needed to be. I was beyond pissed, but I wasn’t about to show my ass in here. No matter how hot I was, I refused to be the typical street thug around all these people.
“Would you like another sir?” he asked from behind me, but I just shook my head without even bothering to turn around.
Dude had his back to me, but I could tell from his body language that he wasn’t happy. Tay was talking, but kept her eyes on me, and I knew that she was worried about me reacting. When she finally walked away, dude grabbed her arm. I sat my beer down and moved towards her, and when she realized I was heading her way, she snatched away from him and tried to meet before I could get to him.
“Did you handle that shit?” I asked as I narrowed my eyes at Tay, and then glanced at dude. I could tell that he was trying to decide whether or not to approach me. I hoped he wasn’t as stupid.
“Yes, can we go.”
“So he got you running scared? It must not be handled if you can’t be in the same room.” I couldn’t control my mood. I was pissed and ready to handle it my way .
“Keem, really. Me wanting to leave doesn’t have anything to do with him.”
“What the fuck ever. You know what, I’ll leave and you can stay. It seems like I’m the problem. Do your thing, baby girl.”
I turned to leave, but Tay grabbed my hand.
“Are you really going to act like a child about this?”
I snatched away and laughed to keep my temper under control.
“Tay, don’t try to handle me. Go deal with your people. This is not the place.”
I looked around the room, and of course dude was right in my fucking face. I shook my head and left. I didn’t have time for this shit.
*****
It was after midnight and I had been sitting outside of Tay’s place for the last two hours. Tay got home just after 11:00, and I watched as Jacob walked her to the front door of her building. They hugged, he kissed her on the cheek, and then got back in his car to leave. Now I was just sitting here and what the fuck for, I didn’t know. Tay had me bent if she thought that I was gonna play second, or be okay with her dealing with another dude. I could tell from how they interacted that shit was deeper than she let on.
Just as I was finishing off my blunt, my phone went off so I pulled it out of my pocket and let my head fall back when I realized it was Tay.
“Yeah.”
“Can we talk?”
“I’m listening.”
“I don’t really get why you’re so angry, Keem.”
“Then you don’t know me and that right there is a problem.”
“I know you, Keem. I just don’t understand how you can be mad at me for living my life. You walked away. I haven't seen or talked to you in over two months and then you just show up like things are supposed to be just like they were when you disappeared on me.”
“I didn’t disappear on you, Tay. That shit was mutual. It was on both of us.”
She wasn’t about to put that shit on me. She was out here doing her thing, and it seemed real easy for her to just move on with her life. Yeah, I was fucking around a little, but I can guarantee that my heart wasn't in that shit, and here she was all caught up in her damn emotions with some other dude who didn’t know shit about her.
“I don’t wanna fight with you, Keem. Can we just figure this out?”
“I’m not the one who needs to figure this out, Tay. There’s never been a question for me about what I want. Can you say the same?”
“How can you even ask me that?”
I laughed this shit was beyond funny. “Tasia, I’m not doing this shit with you.”
“Doing what Hakeem?” I could her voice moved from alluring to agitated, and it was pissing me off.
“I’m not gonna sit here and let your ass play the victim. Most of this shit is your fault. You fuckin
g left and then found somebody else to take my spot. I would have never done that shit to you Tay, so you can gone with all that pretending to be innocent shit. This is why I don’t do fucking relationships, because the second you let somebody in they fuck you over. I swear, I just never thought that you would be that person, Tay. I love you, but I’m not gonna play second to anybody.”
“You’re not playing second to anybody.”
“Do you care about him?”
She didn’t say anything, but I could hear her breathing so I asked again, but this time I damn near yelled it.
“Do you fucking care about him.”
“Yes, but not like--,”
I hung up on Tay and started my truck. I was so pissed that I could feel my grip tightening on my phone with every word that came out of my mouth. I needed to get back to Jersey where I belonged. She could have this shit. Tay had shit all fucked up if she thought that I was gonna be like, oh okay cool, after she admitted that she had feelings for another dude.
My mind was all over the place as I made the drive home. Tasia had been mine since high school. I knew she had other people in her life since then, and I didn’t like that shit but it never bothered me as much as this shit right here. I never stepped to her back then, and even though I cared about her just as much, we weren’t together. She didn’t have my heart like she did now, so there wasn’t really anything I could say about the choices she made, but now she knew better. Yeah, so what we couldn’t figure shit out and we both moved on, but she just let somebody else have a piece of her that belonged to me, and then had the nerve to act like I should be okay with that shit.
There wasn’t a female around that could take Tay’s place because I wouldn’t ever give them the chance, and also because nobody compared. I guess shit was different for her, and that right there had me wanting to put a bullet in dude she claimed to be feeling, so the best thing for me to do was to go home.
When I walked in my front door, it was after 2:00. I was mad as hell, tired as fuck, and all I wanted to do was get my ass in the shower and go to sleep. I needed to forget today, but that shit wasn’t going to be easy. After I showered, dressed, and was in my bed laying there in the dark, I couldn’t get my mind off Tay. I could see her face when I closed my eyes, and I’ll be damned if I didn’t get hard when I could literally feel myself inside her like she was right there with me.
