  When we make our way into the restaurant, I see the seventies-like décor and I can only imagine what Siena is thinking right now.

  “Take a seat wherever and I’ll bring you some menus.” The lady behind the counter says pulling a couple of plates from the cooks.

  Leading Siena to a booth in the back, I make her slide in first and I slide in next to her. “Everything is going to be fine, I promise you that. You just need to be open minded. We have to stay on the down low, and this is the best way to do that.” Her eyes soften, and she puts her head on my shoulder just as the woman comes over to hand us menus.

  “Hi kids, you just passing through town?” She seems like a nice woman and her question is harmless.

  “Hi ma’am. We’re actually just moving to town. Trying to find s
omewhere to rent, you know of any places?”

  “Actually, I do. I have an older house that I’ve been thinking about renting out. Are you interested?” I look over at Siena, and she nods her head.

  “Yeah! We don’t need much, just heat and water.” She gives us a warm smile and looks at Siena for a long while before she says anything.

  “It’s got both of those, plus it’s partially furnished already. I’ll write the address down and let you look over the menus. Take your time, and let me know when you’re ready.” She smiles before walking off towards the kitchen.

  “Can we trust her?” Siena asks grabbing a menu.

  “I don’t know, but we need to find an actual place to live because living in a hotel will drain my money quickly. I still need to make sure you find a doctor and some clothes that actually fit you and that aren’t men’s.”

  “I don’t mind wearing your clothes.” She whispers.

  “As much as I like seeing you in my tee shirts, I want to see your sexy curves, too.” I kiss the top of her head and she looks up at me and smiles.

  By the time we are done eating and Sally from the diner gives us the keys to the place, we decide on getting some clothes for Siena before we head over there. Walking into the store, we make our way towards the woman’s section and Siena starts to look for stuff.

  When I get bored, I walk around to see what else they have here. I find a couple of pairs of jeans for myself, and a couple of things for the baby. When I head back over to Siena, she’s got a few dozen things. She looks at what I have and she looks like she’s about to cry. Closing the distance between us, she leans forward and kisses me. “You amaze me sometimes.” She whispers against my lips.

  “Get used to it. I’m sure I’m going to keep surprising the hell out of you.” I wink at her.

  We take everything to the register and wait as the girl behind the counter totals everything up. “Oh, are you baby shopping for yourselves?” Her voice is cheery, and I can’t help but think that maybe there’s something about this town that causes everyone to be so damn happy.

  “Yeah, I’m twelve weeks.” Siena smiles brightly. It’s the first time in a while that I’ve seen her this happy. The last time was while I was still employed by her father and I had just fucked her. It was right before they left on their trip, when everything went to shit.

  Wrapping my arm around her shoulder, I pull her closer to me. The girl looks at both of us and smiles. “Well, congratulations! Are you hoping for a girl or a boy?”

  “Well let’s just hope for a healthy and happy baby.” I say kissing her forehead. She nods and her arms wrap around me. When I look back at the girl, she looks like she’s almost jealous of us. Maybe she’s been scorned or something before.

  After she gives me the total, I hand her enough cash, and she gives me my change. “Thank you for shopping at Myron’s Clothing. If you ever want to donate clothes to the store, please do so. That is how we keep our prices so cheap.” She smiles politely, and I nod my head.

  “Thank you. We definitely will.” I gather the bags and grab Siena’s hand. When we get to the car, she turns towards me and gives me a questioning look.

  “Was it just me or did she turn kind of sour when you kissed my forehead?” I put the bags in the trunk and walk over to her side to open the door for her.

  “I noticed it too. Maybe she recently broke up with someone and that reminded her of it.” I pull her into my arms and kiss her mouth. “I’m not worried about it though. I will kiss you in public everywhere we go. I finally get to show you off.” I waggle my eyebrows at her and she pushes me away and laughs.

  “Sometimes I don’t know about you Slo… Slade.” She corrects herself. We both look around the parking lot, but there isn’t anyone around.

  “Come on, let’s go check that place out and if we’re good with it, we can go tell Sally.” Siena nods and leans in for one more kiss.

  “Thank you for saving me. I don’t know what I would have done if you didn’t show up yesterday. She closes her eyes and I place my lips on her forehead.

  “I would have gotten you out of there even if you were his wife. I wasn’t leaving you or our baby behind.” She sighs and I open the car door for her. “Let’s get going.” She gets in and I close the door once she’s buckled in.

  When we pull up to the address that Sally gave us, and I’m actually surprised with how nice this place is. The house is sitting on at least an acre of land and there is a swing on the wrap around porch. “Oh my God. This place is amazing.” Siena breathes.

  I look over at her and she has a huge grin on her face. “You think that this would make a good home for the three of us?”

  She looks at me and nods her head. “This place is perfect.”

  Putting the car in park, I shut it off and get out. Siena doesn’t even wait for me to open her door this time. She is out of the car and on her way towards the front door. Once she gets the door open, she walks inside. Following behind her, I see all the furniture - it’s a little dusty, but still in great shape.

  I watch as Siena spins around and takes everything in. When she’s done, she wraps her arms around my neck and pulls my mouth down to hers. “Let’s go pay for the rent and let Sally know that we are going to take it.” She kisses me again and slips her tongue into my mouth. Before we get too hot and heavy, I pull my mouth off of hers and lead her back outside and to the car.

  When we pull up to the diner, we see Sally and she comes right over to the car. “So did you guys like the place?” Her bright smile is infectious, and when I reach to grab the money for her, Siena has the same smile on her face.

  “We’ll take it. How much is the rent?” Sally looks us over before she answers my question.

  “Well since the place is paid for already, how about three hundred a month.” I go to tell her that there is no way that it’s enough, but she stops me. “Before you tell me that I’m not charging you enough, I am going to say take it or leave it. I know you’re on the run from something, and I don’t care. I rather you two be safe, especially with a baby on the way.”

  “How did you know?” Siena asks leaning forward to see Sally better.

  “I was your age once sweetheart. I can see the fear in your eyes. You ran away to be with your guy here. I was that same scared girl you are right now. You need a safe place, and I like the idea of knowing that someone is taking care of the house. As for the baby news, this is a small town. Word travels fast around here.” She pats my arm and I get enough money to cover the first and last month’s rent.

  “Thank you.” I hand the money over to her, and she nods.

  “Just keep them both safe. Be sure to come by my restaurant any time and I’ll make sure you two are well fed.” Sally smiles and walks off towards the diner.

  Pulling out of the diner’s parking lot, Siena grabs my hand and pulls it into her lap. Her attention is on the road, but her fingers are gently moving across my skin in a soothing kind of way. When we pull up to the hotel, I put the car in park and turn towards her. “Stay here. I’ll get everything. If you see anyone that you recognize as one of your father’s men, honk the horn.” Her eyes widen and I know I’m scaring her, but I can’t be too safe.

  We have no clue when they are going to show up here. I rather her be safe than sorry. “Okay.” Her voice is barely audible, but I know she’s listening to me.

  Getting out, I look back at her. “Lock the doors.” She nods and I close the door.

  Making my way to the room, I see a girl who looks like she’s made up to go out for a night on the town. It’s odd because I don’t even think I’ve seen one bar in this whole t
own.

  She stops and grabs my wrist as I start to pass by her. “Hey, sugar.” She purrs. I pull out of her grip, but she goes to touch me again. Before I can even do anything, Siena gets in between me and the woman. “Bitch, find your own.” She growls back at Siena.

  Siena pulls an arm back and swings at the girl. She connects with the girls face and she falls back into the wall. When she stands back up, she slowly walks over to us. “You’ll pay for that, bitch.” She spits out. She starts to come after Siena, but I get in between them.

  “Touch my girl and it will be the last thing you do.” Her eyes stare at me like she’s trying to figure how serious I am about my threat. She looks over at Siena again and huffs off. Turning to look at Siena, I cup her face. “I told you to stay in the car.” I want to be pissed, but I’m not.

  “I wasn’t letting hoe Barbie put her hands on my baby daddy.” She tries to turn her head to see if she is still around, but I don’t let her.

  “Come on crazy. Let’s get our shit and go home.” She grins and rises up on her tippy toes and presses her lips to mine.

  Once we get everything packed into my bag, we make our way out of the room and I leave the key with the front desk. The man behind the counter watches Siena a little more than I would like, but I know that she’ll be riding my dick when we go to bed tonight.

  Before we walk out, he looks like he wants to say something, but he thinks better of it. Walking out to the car, I pull Siena close to me and she wraps her arm around my waist.

  Helping her in the car, I can’t help but scan the area around us. There is no one around and I finally let my guard down. Getting in behind the wheel, I take us towards our new place.

  “Oh, at some point we need to get food, Sloane.” Siena says looking over at me. She has her feet on the dashboard and they’re tapping along to the beat of the song that’s playing on the radio.
