  Chapter One

“Oh, no. This can’t be real.”

Jilly Miller glared at her older sister and crossed her arms. Not that Molly was paying attention.

Leaving college behind, she’d followed her sister to travel to Pleasure, Texas, ready and willing to join her in the adventure of a lifetime. They’d heard stories about the small Texas town and the BDSM club. Since college wasn’t working out for either of them—she was about to flunk out of two of her classes—she’d figured why not give it a try?

Molly was set on finding a Dom or two of her own, and she wouldn’t mind trying out the BDSM thing, either. But Jilly wasn’t holding her breath on finding good guys to be their Doms. She’d counted on guys before and it had always ended badly. She’d gone along with Molly to Pleasure mainly because college sucked and she hadn’t had any other options. Besides, that was the way it had always been. They stuck together no matter what and couldn’t imagine a future without the other.

Their parents had flipped out, of course, once they’d found out they’d dropped out. Especially since Molly was so close to finally graduating. They’d cut off all their support, both emotional and financial. She didn’t blame them. Having one daughter drop out was bad enough, but two? That had to be embarrassing beyond belief once their friends, neighbors, and fellow country club patrons found out. She could still hear her parents’ strident voices on the phone, ordering then begging them to reconsider their “hasty and ridiculous” decision.

“Didn’t you check the place out first?” Jilly surveyed what was left of The Club at Pleasure Ranch.

“Sure, I did. This looks like it just happened.”

Ya think? I’m surprised the embers aren’t still smoldering.

And yet, she didn’t blast Molly. She should’ve done some checking on her own, but as usual, she’d let Molly take the lead. Molly was the take-charge sister. She wasn’t a slouch or a pushover, but it was just easier letting Molly have her way. If she had to, whenever it was really important, then she stood up to Molly.

But what were they supposed to do now? They only had a little money left, no place to stay, and nowhere to go if they couldn’t get a waitresses-slash-submissive job at the club. Looking at the charred remains of the building was like looking at the end of the road for them.

  “Yeah, it did.”

Startled, Jilly pivoted around. The cowboy standing behind them had terrific green eyes—Molly’s favorite eye color—and a body that would put any college guy’s to shame. Even that of the end lineman she’d dated for a while.

His smile was welcoming like so many others they’d seen as they’d driven th
rough Pleasure. A group of women standing in front of one of those small-town beauty parlors had waved to them, then started talking their heads off. She’d waved back. No doubt gossip was queen in Pleasure and they’d just seen the royal court.

  “I’m sorry?” asked Molly.

Jilly glanced at Molly. She hadn’t said anything to make her think so, but she knew her sister well enough to hear the “OMG, but he’s hot” tone of her voice. Leave it to her sister to find a guy thirty minutes after hitting town.

“Naw, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.”

She and Molly followed his gesture at the club. Most of the building was still standing, but it was obvious it wasn’t open. Men hustled around, tearing some of the building down while others worked to clean out the parts not touched by the fire. The place was a disaster zone, but the guys tending to it were great.

Her sister had a thing about cowboys, but she’d never really gotten into the whole boots and hat thing.

I might just have to give them a shot if they all look like these guys. And especially if they’re all as hot as the hunk talking to us.

“We had a fire about a week ago. Thankfully, no one was hurt—at least not in the fire—but it destroyed about a third of the building, mostly the private rooms and the supply room before we got the fire put out.”

At least not in the fire? What did he mean? Someone got hurt somewhere else? There was a story there, but she couldn’t exactly hound him for it, could she?

  “So the club is closed?”

Again, she glanced at Molly. Of course it was closed. Was she playing dumb? Or just talking so she could keep him talking? Molly twisting her hair around her finger was a sure sign that she found him attractive. What warm-blooded woman wouldn’t?

“Yeah. It is.” He stuck out his hand. “I’m Paul Casing, one of the owners.”

  Uh-oh. The owner.

They’d read about him online as part of their research. Hopefully Molly would remember his name. He owned the club with his brother Destin. But more to the point, they were taken. The rumors had it that they’d taken a former police woman and made her their permanent and exclusive submissive.

  Damn. Too bad for Molly.

To her relief, her sister didn’t shake his hand long. She’d obviously picked up on the name, too, and knew he was off-limits.

“Great. Just great.” This just blows big time.

She didn’t like to admit that it was true, but Molly had told her enough times that she could act like a brat when things went wrong. Bad news was, well, bad news. She wasn’t the type to just suck it up and get over it. And when it was really bad news like the club burning down? Then it was even harder to “get over it.”

  “Knock it off, Jilly.”

Molly’s whisper wasn’t soft enough. No doubt Paul had heard it.

She shot Molly the “evil eye” as she called it for embarrassing her in front of their future boss. Molly was right about keeping her mouth in check, but holding in her emotions wasn’t her style. Besides, didn’t shrinks say that holding them in could lead to all kinds of health problems? Like emotional cancer eating its way from the inside out?

She scanned the area again. The nearby house was huge, bigger than any they’d seen on the way through town. Even the barn was massive. A smaller building sat farther away from both the barn and the main house. And the club? It was bigger than the house.

It must’ve been something inside. But now it was gone.

Maybe she should’ve stayed at college. Yet with Molly dropping out and her failing grades, she couldn’t stand the idea of staying put. She’d have felt like she was being trapped if she’d stayed behind. Besides, what if Molly needed her? She’d made the right decision and now they’d have to make the decision right.

  Damn. I’m quoting Dad now.

Taking the coward’s way out, she’d let her parents level most of the blame at her sister. Molly was the oldest at twenty-three and she’d just turned twenty-one. Weren’t big sisters supposed to stand up for their little sisters? Maybe that wasn’t the adult way to think, but it was easier that way.

They’d taken the brunt of their parents’ anger, then loaded the car and headed south from Ohio to Texas. Everything was fine until they’d tried to buy lunch. After the sleazy diner owner had declared their credit card cancelled, then sliced and diced it into little pieces, they’d realized the awful truth. Their parents weren’t about to support their new lives. They were on their own.

As far as Jilly was concerned, it was the scariest thing that had ever happened to her. How were they supposed to live? How were they supposed to eat? They’d ended up having to wash dishes to pay for their lunch. At least, up until the moment the owner had tried to slip his hand under Molly’s bra. They’d left the asshole soaking wet when Jilly had turned the faucet spray on him, interrupting his handsy routine. Then they’d lit out of there as fast they could.

He was just lucky she hadn’t had a skillet in her hand.

  “And you two are…”

She jerked her attention back to Paul. But, of course, Molly was the one he was looking to for an answer.

“Oh. I’m Molly Miller and this is my sister Jilly.”

  “Good to meet you.”

Still immersed in her own misery, Jilly didn’t offer to shake his hand. Why bother? With the club closed down, he wouldn’t be able to help them with a job. And from the size of the town, she doubted there were any other jobs they could land. Why would they want to anyway? What was the point of sticking around?

Oh, yeah. We’re flat broke. That’s why.

“We are going to rebuild and do some remodeling while we’re at it.”

She took Molly’s arm, ready to tug her back to her car. Maybe, if they begged hard enough, their parents would send them enough money to get home.

“Oh, wow. I’m so relieved. I mean, we came all the way from Ohio.”

What? Jilly gaped at Molly. Was she really planning on staying? But why? No money, no job, and no chance at the man. It just didn’t add up.

His gaze jumped from Molly to her and back to Molly. “You heard about the club all the way up in Ohio?”

“We sure did. All my Face Page friends talk about it.” Jilly gave him a shit-eating grin, tempting him to laugh at her. He seemed amused more than worried. As far as she was concerned, they’d given the club free advertising.

“They have, huh? Have any of them visited the club?”

“No. We’ll be the first ones.”

Yeah, like it’s a big deal for college students to be talking about a club hundreds of miles away. She took another quick look at the burned-out club. A club that didn’t exist any longer.

At her sister’s hard look, she relented a little, deciding to take it easier on her sis. As much as she liked Molly taking the brunt of things, she didn’t want to take it too far. At least she wasn’t questioning Molly about staying. Not yet anyway. Besides, Paul hadn’t been anything but nice to them.

“We didn’t come just to visit and have fun. We came to get jobs here,” offered Molly.

He didn’t give any reaction other than to study them closer. She knew she looked younger than her age, and whenever Molly pulled her hair back into a ponytail, she’d get carded at a bar faster than anyone else. Their mom had reassured them that looking younger would be a good thing later on, but for now, it sometimes caused a problem.

  “Jobs? Here?”

  “Yes. As waitresses.”

Jilly shrugged when her sister silently asked if she wanted to tell him the rest of it. Ever since they were children, they were able to communicate with just a glance or a look. She shrugged on shoulder just enough for her sister to catch it. They might as well go ahead. After all, he was the one who might hire them.

“And then as submissives,” added Molly.

His eyebrows jumped up, giving them a definite reaction.

  “How old are you two?”

Jilly threw back her chest. Did big boobs m
ake her appear older than she was?

“I’m twenty-three and Jilly’s two years younger,” answered Molly.

Seriously? As though saying twenty-one would turn him off?

  “Okay.”

“That’s old enough, isn’t it?” If he told her she was too young, she’d scream bloody murder. Wasn’t twenty-one considered to be an adult by all of society’s standards?

  “You sure don’t look twenty-one.”

Oh, come on. Please, don’t do that to me. Whoever said “age is a state of mind” was right. Why couldn’t everyone understand that?

“But I am.” She was ready to show him her driver’s license if she had to.

“Until we get down to hiring, I’ll take your word for it.” He brought her attention back to the burned building. “But as you can see, I’m not hiring right now. And once we’re open again, I’ll only have one job available.”

  Aw, hell no.

She could already see it in Molly’s eyes. She’d call dibs on the job because she was the oldest. Like she was so much older. Not. She leaned her weight on one knee and kept her mouth shut. Once Molly was on a roll, it was useless to try and stop her.

“But once you open back up, you’ll still need to fill that position, right?”

Still, she didn’t want to just roll over and die. “Hey! Way to throw me under the bus.”

But Molly wasn’t paying any attention to her. She’d zeroed in on her target. “Not only do I want to work here, I also want to learn how to be a good submissive. Hell, a great one.”

He gave her another quick scan, irritating Jilly even more. If she’d been smart, she would’ve dressed like her sister in short shorts and a halter top. Especially since they knew the waitresses wore halter tops and a skirt. Instead, she’d gone for comfort with a sundress and sandals. No bra necessary. No panties, either. On a hot day, it was the perfect outfit.
