Single Dad's Triple Trouble Page 16

by Fiona Lowe

Elly smiled at the fact that the more gruesome something was, the more it impressed the boys. ‘Awesome.’ She put her hands on her son’s shoulders and headed him back down to the outside shower to de-sand.

‘And Katie kept sitting on our sandcastles.’ Lucy shivered as the cold water tumbled over her.

‘Just like you did when you were fifteen months old.’ Gabe leaned in close to Elly, his eyes sparkling with love and banked heat. He kissed her on the forehead before transferring their toddler from his arms to hers.

  ‘Did I?’

Gabe and Elly laughed at Lucy’s angelic expression.

‘You used to try and steal your brothers’ ice creams.’

‘Why do you and Dad always say things at the same time?’ Ben gave them a curious glance.

Gabe slid his arm around her waist. ‘Because when you love someone you often think similar thoughts.’

‘Mum didn’t think the same about the new boat. She said we didn’t need it.’ Rory dried his feet and dropped the towel.

Gabe looked sheepish. ‘But we convinced her.’

Elly elbowed him. ‘More like railroaded but that’s OK. I have plans for a new bathroom here which seems like a fair-exchange.’

‘Kids, dinner’s ready!’ James leaned over the deck and lifted Katie up into his arms as the triplets belted up the stairs.

‘Be there in a sec, Dad.’ Gabe grabbed her hand, and gently pulling her with him, walked around the corner to the front of the house and under the shade of the deck.

  ‘What’s going on? ‘

He stepped in close and she automatically leaned in, her body knowing exactly where to go so they fitted together perfectly.

‘Mum and dad have offered to take the kids back to their place for a sleepover tonight.’

Elly smiled and a thrill zipped through her as she looked up into his eyes. ‘Ah, so that would explain the look you gave me a moment ago.’

  He grinned. ‘What look?’

‘The one that hopes you’re going to get lucky tonight.’

He stroked her hair, his bluer-than-blue eyes sparkling with wicked intent and then he lowered his lips onto hers.

Tendrils of heat rocked through her and she sighed against his mouth, pressing into him, knowing absolutely that not only would he get lucky, she was the luckiest woman alive.
