Rise to Love [Rise of the Changelings 1] (Siren Publishing Epic Romance, ManLove) Page 24

by Lynn Hagen

As his orgasm tore through him, Rick yanked Dorian down, biting into his shoulder and thrusting up into his mate’s ass until he was completely spent. He pulled his teeth free and licked at the wound. It was a permanent scar now, showing all that Dorian was mated, claimed, and off-limits. But he knew the wound didn’t hurt his mate. It had the first time Rick had bitten him, but now it was an erogenous zone for Dorian, bringing the man pleasure every time Rick reclaimed him.

Dorian lay spread across Rick’s chest, his heart beating so frantically that Rick could not only feel it, but hear it as well. He ran his hand down Dorian’s back, trying to catch his own breath.

When he heard Dorian’s contented sigh, for the first time in his life, he truly understood what being mated meant.

It wasn’t about appearing weak in Dorian’s eyes. It wasn’t about thinking he was soft for wanting to take care of his mate. It wasn’t even about proving his strength, and showing Dorian that Rick could protect and keep him safe.

It was about that one simple little sigh. The sound was something Rick never wanted to live without. In that moment, he knew he would fight to the bitter end for not only his species, but for the chance to hear that sound until he was old and grey.

  “Thank you, gatito.”

“For what?” Dorian asked and then yawned.

“For not walking away when you had the chance.”

Dorian’s head came up, his pretty brown eyes locking onto Rick’s. “Didn’t you know?”

Rick ran his hands over Dorian’s back, grinning at his mate’s mischievous smile and feeling his heart burst with love. “Know what?” Rick asked.

“I never had a chance. As much as I fought being mated to you, I fell in love with you before I even knew what hit me.”

Rick laughed as he hugged Dorian, knowing that even though their journey had just begun, he intended to spend each and every day showing his mate how lucky Rick truly was.

Edward Costello sat in the dank cell, feeling the hate and betrayal eating away at him like a dark cancer. He no longer held out hope that Enrique would aid him in his freedom. If the werewolf alpha were going to help, he would have already done so.

He had been forgotten, left to rot in this filthy place.

In that moment, Edward vowed he would make Enrique Marcelo pay. The man would lose what he held most dear.

  Isabelle.

Settling back against the cell wall, Edward renewed his plans of escape now that he had a target to focus on. He would endure what the hyenas dished out, just as long as he made Enrique pay for leaving him to be tortured.

Even though Leon had turned to Enrique for help, Edward knew Enrique was not going to honor the debt his family owed to Edward’s. The man had proven he was a coward, unlike the werewolf’s father.

Edward closed his eyes, bringing up an image of Isabelle Marcello in his mind and smiling at the thought of how he was going to seek his retribution.
