EveryDayLove!: A MyHeartChannel Romance Page 16

by Lucy McConnell

“In just a moment, I’ll show you how you can use honey to get rid of acne. That’s right, this golden substance has all sorts of antibiotic properties that will clean your pores, and it’s already in your pantry. And don’t forget to subscribe to my channel so you don’t miss out on a single episode. We’ve got so many amazing shows in store for you!”

Her phone rang. She clicked off the camera and fished it out of her pocket. “Hey, Kelly. What’s up?”

“I just wanted to let you know that we finished shooting the anti-aging serum commercial with your mom yesterday.”

  “How’d it go?”

“Wonderful. She’s a natural in front of the camera.”

“I knew she would be.” Daisy grinned. When Mr. Combs had laid out his plan to launch an entirely new FreeWater program to establish small farms that would provide the ingredients for an all-natural beauty line inspired by Daisy’s channel, Daisy about fell out of her chair in shock. It didn’t take long for her to catch his vision and sign on the dotted line.

She thanked Kelly for the update and ended the call. Shielding her eyes from the hot sun, she took in the progress.

The people who owned the avocado field worked hand in hand with the family who kept the bees. No one was given more work than they asked for, but everyone was given enough. FreeWater partnered with Christian churches who sent young adult groups to establish schools in the community. Children were allowed to work in the fields as apprentices in keeping with the local custom of parents passing their place in the clan to their children.

FreeWater followed the same pattern on the coast for coconut trees, some of the flowers they made into essential oils and, once again, bees. The products sold quickly and Mr. Comb’s biggest stress was keeping up with demand. At the moment, he was in Mexico scouting new locations. EveryDayGlam! may not have the customer base of KPaka, but they were gaining ground and she had a makeup line she was deeply proud to offer her subscribers. Not only did the products help women in the US; a portion of all sales went to helping women all over the world.

A drum sounded the call for midday break. Daisy gathered her things and made her way to Beckett, who was at the water bucket, dousing himself with cool water.

He flipped his wet hair back and stole her breath with his beauty. “What are you staring at?” he asked with a grin.

“Nothing.” She lifted a shoulder and batted her eyelashes at him. “Just my handsome husband.”

He stepped closer. “I’d kiss you, but I don’t want to mess up your look for filming.”

Daisy jumped, throwing her arms around his neck. “You can’t tease me like that, mister.” She leaned in to kiss him and he met her halfway.

“I wasn’t teasing, missus,” he said between kisses.

There was nothing hurried with Beckett’s attention. He kissed her slow and thoroughly and with a promise that he’d love her forever. Daisy put the same feelings into her kiss for him. He’d been absolutely right when he proposed. They’d known one another their whole lives and could spend their lives together in joy.

Not that every moment was bliss. His parents would always be a thorn, but they’d decided not to let that thorn come between them—ever. Daisy always took Beckett’s side and he did the same for her. She didn’t like dealing with his dad, but then again, here was a chance to practice being Christian. Dealing with him during the wedding had made dealing with Brittany at the next MyHeartChannel Meet the Fans conference a piece of cake.

It also helped to have Beckett there to hold her hand. They’d become a MyHeartChannel power couple. As fun as it was to meet their subscribers in person, what Daisy loved the most was traveling the world with her husband.

Beckett trailed kisses down her neck. His lips and skin were hot and his beard tickled, making her giggle.

The farmers groaned and someone flicked cold water on them. They broke apart, laughing.

He set her on her feet and they walked hand in hand along the edge of the field. “We’ll be done in a couple days.”

“That’s sooner than Kelly planned. I guess that’s good. We will be home early for Vivian’s wedding.”

Beckett laughed. “It’s Quinton’s wedding too.”

“Yeah, but I don’t get to do his makeup for the ceremony.”

Beckett made a face. “I hope he won’t be wearing makeup for the ceremony.”

She laughed as she pulled him to a stop. “Will you just look at this place? It’s so beautiful here.”

Beckett pulled her to his chest. “With you, life is beautiful anywhere.” He traced his finger down her cheek before picking up where they’d left off before. Small drops of water fell from his hair and landed on her skin, practically sizzling with the heat between them.

Life with Beckett wasn’t what she’d thought it would be—he’d surprised her with his homebody side. He wanted children, wanted to be a T-ball dad. Wanted to put down roots. So did Daisy, but there was a time and season for children in their marriage. Right now, they were enjoying the honeymoon phase.

She dug her fingers into his wet hair, and her whole soul sang. This was a beautiful life.
