The cops wouldn’t let the mother near her son; she was screaming and crying, scratching at her face and pulling at her hair, but she had to stay up there on the sidewalk with the rest of us,
strangers.
And then they shot him up with something and after maybe a minute he was still, he was not shaking anymore, and they carried him to the ambulance, slid him in, and closed the door.
Then the boy’s father ran up to the scene—and the ambulance remained there in the middle of the street while they presumably worked on his son inside—but everyone was wondering why they weren’t moving along to the hospital, the boy’s father was holding his wife—a crowd of people, my wife and I inside it, watching—the ambulance, just stayed put, in the middle of SW 336th St.
That boy might have been a great golfer. He might have graced the covers of magazines someday, bringing glory to his hometown of Federal Way. They might have named a ★ junior high after
★him.
He might have once had a girlfriend, and some nights after his parents were asleep, he might have jumped from his second-floor window, down onto the driveway……… over to his car parked on the street.……… he might have opened the door and got inside…… put it in neutral……… coasted………… down the hill……… until it was safe to start it up—then pop!ped the clutch and pun!ched the gas. He might have driven to her street, and parked down the block from her house, then snuck around to the back where her bedroom was; she might have been waiting at the window backlit by the red light he’d stolen for her from the christmas tree at the end of the pier and it had fit her bedside lamp perfectly. On the windowsill she sat, smoking a cigarette. Hey, Helen!
Your dad awake?
he said. Shhhhh! she covered his mouth with her hand, laughing.
Your dad awake?
he said a little louder.
He awake?
Shhhhh! Come on! Let’s go! She leaned back and swung her legs over...he helped her down and out...and then together they ran, away, between the houses, beneath the streetlights, the red sky of Federal Way. Jump in the car and drive away, the windows down, a warm night breeze, cigarette smoke drifting around, around and out. He liked the way her hair moved across her face in the wind, and how she’d sweep it away. TURN IT UP! I
LOVE
THIS SONG! They drove to the Brown’s Point Lighthouse and got out, she ran down to the water’s edge and he followed her, where no one else was ever around, this late, the great barges slid, silently, down black water. Little waves stretched and sighed and fell asleep upon the sandy shore. The light lit. The wind blew.
Kiss me now.
She opened her mouth and his heart flew. Light lit: the waves.
Lay me down.
He held her close and, behind them, the hurricane of the world it died away;
I’m sorry I didn’t do anything when your dad hit you with the telephone.
it shrunk away;
I’m sorry I didn’t do anything when your dad hit you with the telephone.
it curled up in a little ball and rolled away.
I’m sorry I didn’t do anything when your dad hit you with the telephone.

But to see; the way;
they cut the clothes from him, down the center of his torso, and up each leg, from the ankle to the groin;
and to see the way, his naked chest begins to heave, as they lift him out, and place him on the board,
the way it heaved and lunged and tore…
I didn’t want to, and I put it off as long as I could, because I was extremely nervous and didn’t want to interrupt or open my mouth at all, but finally, eventually, because I knew I must at last:
I went up to the father.
(He was a skinny brown-haired man with a mustache.)
His back was to me.
(He was wearing a flannel shirt and jeans.)
I stood behind him, quietly.
After a while his wife, in his arms, noticed me.
(She was a little heavy. She had a light brown perm and wore a gray sweatshirt with embroidered flowers on it.)
The father felt a slight shift in her direction.
He turned to face the object of her attention. (She wore blue eyeliner on her lids and pink blush on her cheeks.)
There I stood before him.
I cleared my throat.
I took a deep breath.
I said something
along the lines

There are 3 types of Rock
1. Igneous:
cools from molten rock
95% of earths crust
2. Sedimentary:
layered—from accumulation of particles
of preexisting rock
75% of earths surface
But to see;
the way;
they cut the clothes from him,
3. Metamorphic: (changed)
heated, pressed
up the center of his torso,
and up each leg,
from the ankle to the
groin;
and to see
the way,
his naked chest begins to heave,
as they lift him out,
and place him on the board,
every rock can be converted into every other kind of rock by movement
the way it heaved
and lunged
and tore…
> Kim Forbes. There would be no plays without an audience. Notice how entranced these members of the audience were. Mrs Forbes co-ordinated the event ...
We packed up our things and ran off to Montana.
We hid out in a forest cabin on a lake.
During the days we walked down a dirt path, through falling leaves, and sat at the edge of the dock, in a green Adirondack chair, looking out at the dozing water.
> P.S. Remember “Kim Forbes” - she simply disappeared - no one has heard from her in almost ten years… Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket …

> Hood River - KIMBERLY FORBES (Endangered Missing)
After only a few weeks, nearly all the leaves had fallen. High gray clouds had swept over the blue sky and the air was cold. We sat on the dock in heavy coats, and the woken waves swept high up on the shore. Crashed down:
“No cell phone activity, no credit card activity, nothing.
Message:
Just decided to type in Kim’s name and found this web-site.
I think of her daughter, other family and friends everyday and hope there soon will be some answers.
It was like she’d been swallowed up.”
We gathered wood and stacked it by the back door, piled it up: pile next to pile next to pile. The last birds flew away. We closed the windows. We closed the doors. Last leaves let go. Winter arrived.

Was checking the KOIN website to see local news from home.
Am Oregonian transplant and lived most of my life in SE Portland, east of 162nd.
Am sorry to hear about Kimberly, and hope something breaks in her case soon.
My uncle was murdered in his home on 30th and SE Division nearly 3 years ago, still an open case.
I guess I am lucky, at least I know where he is.
My prayers are with your family and the police that are investigating.

My Thoughts are with Jennifer, CJ and the rest of Kims Family and Friends,
I used to work with Kim at 1st Interstate Bank yrs back and there wasn’t a day that would go by that you wouldn’t bust a gut over something Kim would do or say...
I don’t think anyone that knows her can imagine her with anything but a large smile on her face laughing..
she is such a beautiful, fun, independent gal, this is just so unreal!
We all pray for a speedy homecoming!

O LORD, You have searched me and known me.
You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar.
You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.
Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, You know it all.
You have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is too high, I cannot attain to it.
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
