  CHAPTER ONE

There was a time when everything was right in his world, but ever since he laid eyes on Andi, Hunter believed that things turned topsy turvy. No matter what he did, there just wasn’t any way out of the mess that he’d clambered into.

  Pregnant?

He just wasn’t ready to be a father, and surely, she wasn’t prepared to be a mother. They were too young to take on such a responsibility, not to mention the chaos it would make in their parents’ lives. Ever since Andi made that announcement, he had been trying to come up with a solution to deal with this problem. For the first time since Justin and his mother left, they slept apart. He’d been dreaming of a great time ahead with her when they went back to the university but now things were falling apart.

No doubt, Andi was hot and she was smart and fun. They had a fabulous time together. He quite enjoyed being with her but Hunter couldn’t take this tension. As soon as it was morning, he went to the pharmacy and got pregnancy tests. After he came back home, he knocked on her door.

First things first; he had to figure out if what they anticipated was really happening. She opened the door. Seeing him, she sniffed. He could tell that she’d been crying. Hunter felt a wave of guilt and pity. Whatever he was going through, she was going through a hundred times more. “I am sorry I wasn’t more supportive last night. I got these for you to take to be sure.”

Taking the bag from his hands, she opened it. Seeing the pregnancy test, fresh tears poured out of her eyes. “I will do this.”

She closed the door before he could say something. “Damn it!” Now he felt like an even bigger jerk. Shit! He shouldn’t have seduced her. He should have been more careful. If he had taken care not to get involved with her from the beginning, this wouldn’t have happened. It was his fault. He got her in this mess, and now he didn’t know how to get her out of it.

Hunter didn’t quite know what to do; should he leave or stay? Undecided, he remained standing in the same spot and after five minutes, she opened the door. His heart thundered in his chest. Words got stuck in his throat. He didn’t quite know what to do. Seeing that she just stood there without saying anything, Hunter cleared his throat.

  “What?”

  “It’s negative.”

  “That means…you’re not…” he sputtered.

“No, I am not pregnant, so I guess you can rest easy.” She slammed the door shut.

Hunter ran a hand through his hair. Phew! That was one load off his chest. Last night was the worst that he ever experienced. He just didn’t want a repeat. After going back in the room, he sat on the bed. A decision needed to be taken; it was better to end this relationship. Sure, he had strong feelings for Andi but there wasn’t anything he could do about it. Although he felt reluctant to face her so soon, Hunter walked out and knocked on the door once more.

She opened it. Even in her night shirt, she looked like the world’s most beautiful woman. Her skin glowed and her bright blue eyes were sharp. He wanted to draw her in his arms and cover her with kisses. The desire that careened through his heart every time he looked at her was the same as always. Nothing it seemed had changed. Even after such a big scare, he desired to be with her. His body craved her in a way that he couldn’t understand.

  “What is it?”

  “I need to talk.”

It looked as if she might slam the door on his face but then she stepped aside. Hunter came in. Just yesterday they were entwined on her bed, two peas in one pod, his arms and legs around her, his lips on her soft skin, and now they were poles apart. He banished the images from his mind. “Please sit.”

She sat on the edge of the bed while he stood. Hunter ran a hand through his hair. “I don’t quite know how to begin…”

Her voice was firm, emotionless. “You want to break up.”

  “How did you know?”

“I am not an idiot. You’ve hardly looked at me since I told you that I may be pregnant.”

“You were the one who walked upstairs. I pounded on the door for thirty minutes, but you didn’t want to talk, remember.”

She sighed. “I was upset, of course. No one wants to be pregnant when they have just turned eighteen. Disaster averted.”

  “Yeah, well…”

“We should try to keep a distance from each other.”

He hated that she was stealing the words right out of his mouth. Would he have felt better about this situation if he was the one who was actually saying them? Hunter didn’t think so. It wasn’t just that his ego was hurt because she didn’t want to be with him, but rather this heart also echoed with pain. He didn’t want to end things. Every time he glanced at her, he wanted to run his hands over her smooth limbs and caresses her warm skin. His lips ached to feel hers. And yet, she was now off limits.

“It’s for the best, I suppose. We can’t afford anything like this happen again.”

“Yes, it gave me a jolt too. A much needed one. We were stupid to get involved in the first place. If my father found out…if your mother knew…we both know what would happen.”

He nodded. It made sense. This was the perfect decision. They should have made it earlier before all this madness began. Of course they tried, but they both failed. It was impossible for him to keep his hands off her, but this time he was determined to try harder. He just didn’t want a terrifying incident like this again. Even the mere thought of getting her pregnant again sent chills down his spine.

“I…” He wanted to tell her that he felt terrible about this, that he didn’t want to do such a thing. He really needed to say that she was the best thing that ever happened to him and without her, his life would be miserable. But Hunter couldn’t voice those words. “I will see you around then.”

Lame. Lame. Lame. He went out, walked into his room, and flopped down on the bed. What a stupid thing to say. She was living with him in the same house. Of course they would see each other. That was the worst thing of all; knowing that she was only a wall away but he wasn’t able to do anything about it. But the decision was made. It was final, and now there wasn’t anything he could do about it.

In the evening, Justin and Laura arrived. Looking tanned, fit, and happy, they both hugged Hunter and Andi. “Wow! It seems like ages since I saw you guys.”

“It’s only been two weeks, mom.”

“So what have you guys been doing?”

“We just kept busy…met some friends, did a little partying.”

Laura patted him on the cheek. “I hope you took good care of Andi.”

He swallowed. What the hell was he supposed to say to that? “Of course, he did.” Hunter glanced over where she
sat with her father, her hand in his. She didn’t quite meet his gaze as she looked at her dad. “We also went sightseeing, just like tourists.”

“That’s good, honey. We were scared that you might get bored, not that you both are kids anymore. So anyway, we got presents…” said Laura. She dangled a bag in front of Hunter and then gave one to Andi. “Just a little something to remind you guys that we did think about you guys a few times.”

  “Once,” said her father.

“Ah! No, it was more than that. Maybe twice.” Laura laughed. “So Andi, check out the dress we got for you. It’s fabulous. The moment we saw it, we both thought it would be perfect for you.”

He glanced over at the sparkling cream dress that she pulled out of the bag. Sure, even he could imagine seeing her in it. With her body, she would fucking rock that dress. In his mind he could see her in that dress, every curve of her perfect and delicious. He imagined running his hands down her body while she wore that creation and then imagined peeling it off her.

  Damn it!

  He wanted to die.

“Thank you, Laura. Dad. It’s beautiful.”

“Hunter, don’t you want to open your bag?”

“Yes, of course.” Hunter pulled out the two t-shirts they bought for him. After making all the appropriate noises and saying the right things, he escaped back to his room. If this went on for long, he would die. He needed to get out of this place and stay away from Andi. For the rest of the day, he stayed in his room. At dinner, he barely exchanged a few words with Andi but was comfortable talking to Justin and his mother.

“So Hunter, first day of internship tomorrow?” said Justin.

With a jolt, he realized that he was supposed to start going to Justin’s investment firm tomorrow. With all that happened, that quickly slipped out of his mind. “I am excited about it.”

“It’s going to be a great experience and I want you to make the most of it,” said Laura. “You will meet many people and learn new skills. If you apply yourself, there would be a lot to learn.”

“Of course, I will do my best.”

Hunter exchanged a glance with Andi but then quickly looked away. Now he would be away from her for a long period of time every day. It was a blessing in disguise. He intended to stay out late and come back at dinner time so that he could avoid her as much as possible. The best thing was that no one would suspect anything because he would be hard at work. It was the first time he sought refuge in work. Guess it showed he was finally growing up. After dinner was over, he excused himself.

He returned to his room, flopped on the bed, and Hunter buried his head on his pillow.

There was a knock on the door. “Come in.” He turned around as his mother entered the room. “Hi, mom. What’s wrong?”

“Nothing wrong, honey. I just wanted to have a conversation with you.”

A conversation with his mother was never about nothing. Hunter braced himself. Had she found out about his affair with Andi? No, that couldn’t be it. If that was true, she would kick him out of the house first. “Ok. Sure.”

His mother sat on the chair. “Hunter, Justin and I are a little worried about you and Andi.”

His heart began to pound so loud that he was quite sure that she was able to hear it. If she did, she didn’t give any indication. “Worried?”

“Well, we’d hoped that your time together will…you know, improve your relationship, give you guys some time to bond, but it seems that you don’t get along at all.”

Oh, the irony of it. How could he tell his mother that if it was up to him, he would spend all his time with Andi? She was his sun and moon. He ached for her like he never did ever before. “We get along just fine.”

“I didn’t see any evidence of that, young man.” His mother cleared her throat. “Of course, we don’t expect you guys to get on like a house on fire, but it would be nice if we saw a degree of friendship. You will have to put in the effort, Hunter. She is younger than you.”

He didn’t quite know what to say. If he put in any more effort with Andi, they would combust simultaneously. “Sure, mom. I will try.”

“I am glad to hear you say that.” She stood, walked over, and gave him a hug. Hunter felt the warmth of her arms around him and wondered how she would feel if she knew exactly how close he was to Andi. It would be a great disappointment to her. He didn’t ever want her to feel like that about him. Hunter vowed to keep his secret with Andi hidden for as long as he could, preferably forever.

After his mother left, he settled down to sleep. It eluded him. As long as he was near Andi, his cock ached to feel her touch. His skin hummed to rub against her, and his body longed to touch her. It could never happen again. Never. And yet he couldn’t give up the hope because without it, he didn’t have anything. Images flashed through his mind; her hot, curvaceous body, and her sweet, soft lips, and her pussy that stretched around him when he thrust his cock inside her. Hunter moaned and buried his face in the pillow. If he thought about it, he would go mad.

Andi was his drug, and he wanted her so badly that it was hard to describe the ache in his body. But she was strictly off-limits and there was no way he could forget that fact. No way at all.

  CHAPTER TWO

Andi was bored, bored, bored out of her mind. She’d visited all her favorite shops and bought everything she needed, and more. There was nothing left to see and do. Now that Hunter was off limits, she didn’t quite know what to do with her time. She lounged in the living room as she flipped channel after channel. Now that Hunter was at the office all day long, the house was too silent. Gone were the days when they spent time together. Gone were the days when she felt his arms around her and his lips on her.

Every night was torture. She could hear him moving about in the other room. Andi wanted to go and hug him, she desired to run her fingers over his smooth skin, and trace the line of his lips. Her lips ached to roam over his. Her body craved to be with him, but ever since they got that scare, they had maintained the distance.

  The risk was too great.

She didn’t want anything like that to happen ever again.

Her father lumbered up the stairs. “Hey, dad.” She was surprised to see him so early. Usually, he didn’t come back before six. Andi checked her watch. It was barely five. “Is everything ok?”

“I came home early to spend some time with my best girl.”

“Oh, ok.” Something was up. She worried that he’d heard something about her and Hunter. They were so careful when Justin and Laura were away, but what if someone saw them. What if Gage said something? Sweat beaded on her forehead as she shifted to make room for him on the couch. “Come, sit with me.”

  “What are you watching?”

“Nothing, really. I was just browsing.”

Her father settled down. She could tell that he wanted to talk so she waited for him to begin. What would she say if he told her that he was aware of her relationship with Hunter? How would she explain that she had the hots for her stepbrother? How could she discuss with her father the feelings that coiled in her heart and mind whenever he was in close proximity? Even though they made the decision not to be with each other, it didn’t change the way she felt about him. Andi’s heart still beat for him. Every time she looked at him, her pussy contracted and ached for his cock. Every muscle in her body craved to feel his hard abs and his long, lean legs rubbing against her. It couldn’t happen. Never. And yet she found it difficult to give up on the idea of making love to him one last time.

“You have been here for a while, sweetie. I was wondering if you were having a good time.”

“Of course, dad.” Yes, her life would be much better if she could fuck Hunter every day, but since that wasn’t going to happen, she was doing just dandy. “It’s great to be with you.”

Justin shifted on his seat. She wished that he would spit out whatever was on his mind. This anticipation was driving her crazy. What if he did know about her and Hunter? What would she tell him? “I also li
ke spending time with you, sweetie. But I have this feeling that you’re getting bored during the day when none of us are at home.”

She didn’t want to lie. “I guess that’s true.”

“I had a suggestion. It’s up to you, of course, but I was thinking that it might be a good idea for you to do an internship at my firm. I can arrange for it. It will be a great experience. You will learn something and maybe even make new friends. We do have a number of young interns this year.”

Andi thought about his proposal. There was only one catch to it. Hunter would be there. But it was a big firm. Surely, they would manage to find separate corners and spend time with other people. Also, it would give her something to do. Andi sighed. “Ok, dad. That sounds like a good idea.”

“Great. I am glad you like it. So what I am going to do is have a talk with someone and you can start day after tomorrow. The work will be easy enough and you will be able to interact with many people. I think you will enjoy it.”

“Yes, I am sure I will.” She tried to inject a note of positivity in her voice. Her father sat for a while longer and they both talked about other things. Andi wanted to disclose her feelings for Hunter. She wanted desperately to discuss them with someone, but unfortunately she had never had a very candid relationship with her dad, and in this particular case, she was sure he wouldn’t appreciate the truth. No. It was best if she kept these feelings hidden. Her father would be mortified if he heard that she had sex with her stepbrother. Laura would be upset and it would spoil the atmosphere in the house. Since they had already decided to keep their distance from each other, there was no point coming clean now. After some time, her father went downstairs and she also came with him to help him with dinner. Together, they put together a nice casserole and a salad. By the time Laura and Hunter came in, a nice aroma wafted in the kitchen.

“Wow! I could get used to this.” Laura gave her husband a kiss and enveloped Andi in a warm hug. “You guys have been busy.”
