"I don't know," Sul'ing said. "Humans are not welcome there."
Kedrik searched the sky, as if sheer effort would reveal the dragon's realm to him. As he focused his attention on the maiden's belt, a thin blue-green light flickered among the stars. It was insubstantial at first, just a few points of blue and green winking on and off, almost imperceptible.
The light grew brighter, a line of dots strung across the maiden's belt that grew more and more substantial until a wandering line of blue-green lights snaked across the sky.
The eerie blue-green line shimmered suddenly streaked downward to form a curtain of sheerest silk that hung from the maiden's belt. It twisted and rippled as if it were being blown by the gentlest of breezes.
"What's that?" Kedrik pointed to the wavering lights.
"A gateway." Sul'ing turned her head from the sky to look at Kedrik.
"Someone is coming," she said. "It's a dragon, one of my own kind."
