Return of the Wolf Page 5

by Karen Whiddon

Hope surged in him. “You still want me? Even now, knowing how I abandoned you?”

With a gentle hand she wiped away his tears. “You came back to me, didn’t you? Even then, I knew you would. How could I not want you, my love? Fate put us together for a reason. We were given a choice, as we always are. We could right the wrong that had been done or continue to harm each other and, ultimately, harm ourselves.”

As he stared at her, she kissed him, her embrace full of love, coaxing him into kissing her back. When he did, heat blazed between them, Skin to skin, mouth to mouth, they were one.

As they’d always been and would forever be.

Finally he saw with complete clarity what she’d meant. Though they had much more to teach each other, one lesson had been learned.

They’d come full circle. In life, in love, and with a new chance for happiness.

The wolf had returned. Together they’d embraced the beast.
