Acknowledgments
I wrote this book during a time of personal upheaval. Four close family members were diagnosed with serious medical illnesses in a short span, all while I was embarking on a journey to complete a 200-hour yoga teacher-training program. Honestly, as I look back, I have no idea how I managed to write this book, care for my family, and complete my teacher training. I attribute it to the Grace of God, my exceptional yoga instructors, and my fellow students.
To the following people I owe a debt of innumerable gratitude.
To my teachers: Sandra Vanatko, who created a safe haven in Indra’s Grace. She is a shining example of love in action. She walks the walk. John Stockberger, who challenged my misguided beliefs with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye, and who saved my creative life. Jenny Reitz, who inspires me with her steadfast devotion. Nancy Deison for her wisdom, calmness, and rocking hot yoga bod. Karen Henckell for her grace, and style. Lisa Humphreys for her peacefulness, and because she smells so darn good. Suzanne Rockrock, our cheeriest cheerleader, and lover of baseball. Thank you!
To my fellow students: Tara Tankersley, who is not only a fierce yoga warrior, but lots of fun to boot. Barbara Pursley for her commitment to animals and people alike. Caitlyn Rose, who is wise beyond her young years; I’ll never be as poised as she is. Jamie Cowan for sharing her special blessing with us. Patrick Gass, the lone yang to our many yins. You brought balance to our class. Linda Crownover who gives the best hugs! Jan Hicks for her sense of adventure, and willingness to try anything. Marty Hungate, a natural teacher with a spellbinding voice. Roberta Kirkpatrick for being real and speaking from the heart, and for snorting during closing circle. Cheryl Lambert, who is the most caring, gentle soul I have ever met. Marcy Akers Freeman for being willing to leap and trusting the net will appear. Amy Magga for her self-contained sensuousness. Lori Powell for her beautiful smile and nurturing heart. Kathy Presbaugh for her go-hung attitude, and looking incredible in wheel pose. Erika Swyryn, whose planning and organizational skills gave so much to our family group. Tai Tipton, who lovingly shares what she’s learned, and embodies the giving spirit of a true yogi. To Katherine Walker for her classy elegance.
And lastly, but certainly not least, Vickie Nelms, who is one tough, smart, gutsy cookie, and a badass pediatric nurse. Thank you for being my partner-in-crime in Costa Rica.
To each and every one of you, I send my deepest gratitude, and heartfelt blessings. I love you all!
