Unexpected Forfeit Page 16

“Damn, Chy, it smells good in here.” He shuffles over to give me a side hug.

“Thanks, Gav. Your dad didn’t want to come back with y’all?”

“Nope, he was going to hang out with my brother.”

Aria rolls her eyes and everyone else comes into the dining room.

Jace shakes his head at Gavin, ‘Hey man, you can take off some of the winter gear. It’s not going to snow or anything; this is central Texas.”

“You never know, man. I don’t screw around in the cold.” He drapes his puffer jacket, gloves, hat and scarf on an extra chair.

We all take our seats around the cherry finish dining table, reciting what we’re thankful for.

We get to Jace and he scoots his chair back, getting to his feet. There’s no telling what he’s up to.

He pushes his chair in and drops to a knee beside me. I can’t freaking believe he’s doing this right now. I figured it would be soon, but was expecting it closer to Valentine’s Day.

He tenderly takes my hand into his large one, places a kiss on my palm and looks in my eyes. He clears his throat, “Chyna… Kiki, you know I love you more than anyone in this world. I promised you forever, baby, and it’s time you see that I mean it. You’re mine, Chyna, you get all of me…Now, can I have all of you? Will you do me the great honor of taking my last name and becoming my wife?”

I swallow deeply, staring into his sparkling blue eyes and see nothing but truth and love there. Of course, I’ll be his wife. I’ll be the best damn wife he could ever wish for. I nod my head, whispering, “Yes, forever.”

He uses his free hand to pull out the ring box. I’m surprised I didn’t feel it earlier when I was hugging him, unless maybe Gavin and Aria just brought it to him. He opens the lid and I take in the ring that is absolutely perfect for me.

The platinum band with a large round blue diamond, the color of Jace’s eyes, shine back at me. I don’t know if he realizes that it matches and that’s why I love it so much.

  “It’s perfect, Jace.”

“Nah, Kiki, you’re perfect. This is just a ring. I love you.”

I fall to my knees in front of him, yanking him to me, “Forever Jace, I promise to love you forever,” I mutter and kiss him, forfeiting my heart and soul.
