Vey chuckled. 'That's exactly why I needed you there,' he said, drinking some juice made from the strange fruit that grew in the gardens there. 'Say, whatever happened to that gargoyle you set on Rarn?'
Thordric blinked. 'I think it might still be chasing him,' he said, slightly nervously. Vey roared with laughter, almost missing the knock at the door.
'Come,' he said, waving his hand so it opened. Wizard Batsu appeared in the doorway, carrying a tray with a plate of Jaffa cakes and a note on it.
'Excuse me, your reverence; Wizard Thordric,' he said, nodding to them and putting the tray down on the table. 'But this letter has just arrived for you.' Vey thanked him and watched him leave and then picked up the note and read it.
'It seems your theory about your mother and my uncle was right, Thordric,' he said with a smile. 'We've just been invited to their wedding.'
