Welcome to the world of Adam Cain
and The Human Chronicles Saga
After reading Force of Gravity, some of you may be wondering what’s to come of Adam Cain and his friends? The answer is nothing. There will be many more adventures to come. However, as the author, I have a little latitude as to how I do this. Let me explain.
The Human Chronicles Saga didn’t start out to be a saga. It was originally a five-book story arc…that turned into twenty-two! By popular demand, I kept adding to the series, bringing in new villains and challenges for our heroes. And you followed the adventures from book to book. And for that I thank you.
The problem comes from the fact The Human Chronicles is a sequential series, better read from book one all the way to book twenty-two. This has left only one real entry point into the series: Book One, The Fringe Worlds.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of readers who would hesitate to enter a 22-book series. That’s a major commitment. For my loyal fans throughout the years, the process has been more gradual, an evolution of sorts. For new readers it’s a daunting task.
So I’m tweaking things a little. Not much, just a little. Future Adam Cain novels will be under the series banner of: The Human Chronicles Saga—Continuum.
Wow! Fantastic! Bravo!
Calm down everyone. It’s not that revolutionary. What it means is that each new Adam Cain novel will be essentially a stand-alone book. Adam and his team will still face villains and challenges of galactic proportions, but rather than take three or four books to reach a conclusion, they will do so over the course of one book, two at the most. Not only that, but the books will be written in such a way that new readers can jump in and know what’s going on from the beginning, without having to have read the original series—all twenty-two books of it. (If after reading a Continuum book they want to go back to the beginning, they’re more than welcome. But it won’t be necessary in order to enjoy the latest Adam Cain adventure.)
You can think of Clive Cussler’s Dirk Pitt novels, or Jim Butcher’s Harry Dresden series, or the Jack Reacher books. Even the James Bond novels, for that matter. That’s what I hope Continuum will become.
And for my long-term fans, nothing changes. It’s still Adam Cain and the gang kicking alien butt and saving galaxies and damsels in distress. Just another day on the job.

And now for something completely different.
Well, not really. In fact, just the opposite.
I’ve been working on a new military space opera series for a while, but with the schedule I’ve had with the Adam Cain novels, it’s taken some time to get to the point where the series is ready to begin. It’s called the REV Warriors Series with the first book called REV, of all things.
Let me explain a little more about the series.
Obviously, I like writing novels like The Human Chronicles Saga, and you obviously like reading them. A while back I tried to figure out what was so appealing about the Adam Cain novels, and I came up with a few conclusions. You like stories where Humans are the badasses. You like military sci-fi. You like stories of people with super-Human abilities. And you like stories where reluctant heroes face seemingly impossible odds and come out on top. Of course, those are just assumptions on my part, maybe because those are the type of stories I like to read. I’ve always believed that if you write a book that you want to read—but can’t find—there will be thousands of other people out there just like you who will follow you. I did that with The Fringe Worlds, and a whole lot of people followed, and continue to this day.
So after doing my little analysis, I decided to develop a new series designed specifically to appeal to my Adam Cain fans, containing all the elements of the first series. There are huge military battles against deadly aliens, along with people who have skills and abilities and develop even greater skills and abilities (read: superhuman). There are villains and betrayal, and desperate challenges with literally galactic consequences tied to them. There’s also the humor you’ve come to expect from me. (Let’s face it, I can’t go more than a thousand words without cracking a joke. But I think this is what adds to the ‘humanity’ of my stories.)
The REV series has all these things…and more.
Briefly (yeah right!) it’s a story set about a hundred years in the future about Humans fighting an evil alien race. The battles take place in space and on a variety of Earth-like worlds (which is the reason we’re fighting over them in the first place). The hero, Zac Murphy, is a Marine 0331, a modified warrior, who when revved up on the wonder drug NT-4, turns into what I call The Incredible Hulk without the Bulk. While on the drug, he becomes incredible strong, quick and durable. He also loses his mind temporarily, becoming a crazed killing machine that’s wound up and pointed in the direction of the enemy. It’s his job—the job of all the REVs—to breech alien strongholds, opening paths for the following Marine troops. He’ll kill anything in sight, be it friend or foe. Then after a Run, he’s injected with the Twilight drug that brings him back down. Zac and NT-4 saves lives, Marine lives. That’s what makes him and the other Revs heroes in the Corps, until….
No spoilers here, but be assured everything is not as it seems. Zac is changing, and these changes make him a danger to the Corps and the people around him. Now the military geniuses who made him have a problem on their hands. What do you do with the most-dangerous and efficient killing machine ever devised?
