expect the questions to be worded in the exact same way as the information on the recording. The correct answer may need to be paraphrased using slightly different lexis and/or grammatical forms.

  vii.Use whatever abbreviations or shorthand you wish in your draft answers on the question paper. You can rewrite these initial answers in longhand on the answer sheet afterwards.

  viii.If you couldn’t catch any answers during the recording, you can always guess them when you’re transferring the answers afterwards; you have nothing to lose.

  ix.Ensure your spelling is accurate. If the answer requires you to fill in unusual names or places these will normally be spelt out for you on the recording.

  x.Pay attention to the brief introduction heard before each section outlining the context of the recording.

  xi.Remember there will be a short pause before each section and a short pause before each separate task.

  xii.Look at the key words in the information provided to predict what details need to be captured.
