Emma could see that she was doing a good job and she liked Melissa. She was easy going, friendly, but she wasn’t used to sharing Cat with someone. It was strange.
Melissa sat down beside Emma to take another photo and Emma noticed Melissa’s tattoos for the first time. She’d seen them before, but she never read the words that were scattered across her body.
The white tank top she was wearing today showed off her toned arms and Emma eyes moved from one tattoo to the next. She had a lot, but she still wasn’t anywhere near having a sleeve.
“So, do you think you’ll be getting one next?” Melissa asked as she left her camera in her lap and turned to face her.
“I’m not sure.”
“Well, just so you know, they’re addictive,” she said as she patted Emma’s knee and stood up. “I’m going to get going. I have more than enough for today.”
“See you tomorrow,” Cat called after Melissa as she left the tattoo shop with her camera bag slung over her shoulder.
Emma waved goodbye and turned her attention back to Caitlin’s tattoo. It was nearly done. That tattoo artist was just putting the finishing touches on the ‘y.’
Cat stood up while he cleaned up to show it to Emma before he covered it up for her.
“What do you think?” Caitlin asked as she held out her left arm.
Emma’s eyes moved over the script lettering again.
Serendipity
“I love it,” Emma said, a smile tugging at her lips as she glanced up at Cat.
“It’s probably the first of many.”
“It suits you.”
Emma slung her bag over her shoulder when Caitlin had paid and gotten instructions on how to take care of it and they headed home.
Home.
The more Emma thought about it, the happier she was living with Cat. She’d talk to her properly about it, but it was going well so far. They might as well put the guest bedroom back the way it was in case any of their friends or family came to stay.
She’d only been in Los Angeles for a month, but Emma had kept her promise to herself to take at least one photo every day.
She applied for a few hotel jobs in the last two weeks, but she hadn’t heard anything back yet.
Emma spent a few days on her laptop going through her collection of photos and putting her best ones together in a separate folder.
If she wanted to get any gigs, she needed to have a portfolio ready.
She was really settling in and things were going well with Caitlin too. Since she hired Melissa, she seemed less worried.
Every day Cat was posting new content on her social media accounts, sending out teasers for new songs or posting a photo from her everyday life.
Melissa was doing her part too and even after less than a month, Cat’s reach was growing, and her follower count was increasing.
Chapter 34
April 6th, 2016
“Happy three months,” Cat said with a smile as she poured Emma and her a glass of Chardonnay.
“Of living together?” Emma asked.
“Yeah and of being in L.A.,” Cat said, handing her the glass.
“Cheers.”
Cat clinked her glass off Emma’s. Things were good between them. Living together was easy. They’d done it before but they’d both had their reservations this time around.
It turns out they had nothing to worry about. Her career was back on track, thanks to Melissa and all of her hard work.
But just as she was beginning to relax, Cat needed to share some news with Emma.
“So…,” Cat started. “I have something else to tell you about.”
“Good or bad news?”
“Both.”
“Okay…” Emma said as she followed Cat over to the couch and sat down next to her.
“I’m going on a mini tour,” Cat said with something between a grimace and a smile on her face.
She was thrilled when Melissa had put it all together. She’d somehow become her manager as well as her social media guru.
She just didn’t know how Emma would take it. Cat knew how big of a deal it was for Emma to come out here and start over. Now, Cat wouldn’t be around for a few weeks and she wasn’t sure that Emma would be too happy about it.
“Really?” Emma asked as she brought her glass to her lips.
Cat nodded. “Yeah. Just twelve shows.”
“That’s fantastic!”
“Yeah?”
“Of course,” Emma said as she leaned in to kiss Cat’s soft lips. “Did you think I’d be upset?”
“Yeah… I’ll be gone for all of May.”
“That was always going to happen,” Emma said with a slight smile. “If it didn’t, you wouldn’t be happy. You wouldn’t be doing what you love.”
“So, you’re okay with this?”
“Absolutely.”
“It’s a mixture of Pride gigs, small venues and a few festivals.”
Cat would have loved if Emma came on the road with her but now that she had a job managing another boutique hotel, she knew that wouldn’t be possible.
“I wish I could tag along with you,” Emma said with a sad smile, reading her mind.
“I know. Me too.”
“But this could be the start of something… Something big this time and you deserve it.”
Cat left down her glass and cupping Emma’s cheek, pulled her in for a long kiss. Their lips parted against each other’s as Cat’s free hand slid underneath Emma’s top.
They’d both been busy this week and Cat didn’t want them to slip into a rut which could easily happen when they’d known each other so well before. This time around was different. They both knew that.
When their early fears of ruining their relationship again fell away, there were new fears… For Cat at least. She was afraid of things becoming stale, especially after all the drama that surrounded their reunion. Her schedule was hectic, but she always tried to make time for Emma, make sure she knew that she wasn’t taking any of this for granted.
Cat felt Emma shudder against her as she cupped her breast underneath her top and their tongues met in a slow and sensual dance. Cat pulled away a few seconds later, out of breath with her heart racing.
“I think we can talk about this again tomorrow,” Emma said as she stood up and reached for Cat’s hand. “There’s other things I’d like to be doing right now.”
“Is that so?” Cat asked with a smirk as she let Emma lead them into their bedroom.
"Get undressed."
Cat stood beside the bed, still facing Emma, but she was sure that she'd misheard her.
"Get undressed," Emma said again, closing the door behind her.
Cat suppressed a smile. She couldn't remember Emma ever being dominant like this, but she was already loving it. She lifted her tank top over her head and unbuttoned her shorts, letting them fall to the floor.
"All of it," Emma said, still on the other side of the room in her gray top and jean shorts.
Cat did as she was told, reaching behind her back to unhook her bra and tossing it on top of the pile of clothes on the floor. She slid her panties down her legs, standing beside the bed, waiting for her next instructions.
"Turn around," Emma said, her voice even and full of authority.
Cat swallowed as she turned around to face the bed. She could hear Emma approaching her from behind, and the uncertainty of what was going to happen next was making Cat wet. She could feel the juices pooling between her legs, the cool air hitting her bare pussy lips.
Emma didn't say anything as she gently eased Cat's legs apart from behind with one hand while the other wrapped around her, cupping her breast, her fingertips finding her already hardened nipple. Cat arched her back into her at the directness of her touch, and Emma kissed her neck while she palmed her breast, kneading the soft flesh in her hand.
Emma's right hand was between her legs now, her fingertips gliding through her wet folds, dipping inside her slightly, but she pulled her fingers awa
y before she was all the way inside of her. Cat spread her legs a little wider, inviting her in.
Cat whimpered. "Please."
"Don't talk," Emma said, pinching her nipple as she moved her fingers through her sex again from behind.
Cat didn't know how much longer she was going to stay upright. Her legs were wobbly, and all she could think about was having Emma inside her.
Emma removed her hand from her dripping sex, cupping her other breast, rolling her nipple between her fingers, and Cat could feel her covering her breast with her own wetness. Emma's lips were on her neck again, kissing her way up to her earlobe, her tongue flickering over it before she gently bit down on it.
Cat put her hands on the bed to support herself. Her breathing was ragged, and she was desperate for Emma's touch.
"Stand up," Emma said, reaching around to play with her clit with her left hand, her arm against her hip, while her other hand returned to her sex, teasing her entrance from behind. "What do you want?" Emma asked, her breath hot against Cat's neck.
"I need your fingers," Cat practically growled, and when Emma's fingers didn't move, she decided to match Emma's directness. "I need you to fuck me."
Cat gasped as Emma thrust her fingers inside of her, bottoming out, her knuckles rubbing against her wet pussy lips as she pulled out and repeated the motion with another long and hard stroke. Cat reached behind her, clutching onto Emma's jean shorts and then her thighs, but Emma took a step back as she continued to move her fingers in and out, faster and faster.
"I'm going to come," Cat groaned as Emma's fingertips circled her clit with a little more urgency while she thrust her fingers in and out of her from behind. Cat bent over, her hand covering Emma's, pushing her harder against her sensitive bud as she came. Cat's hips bucked against her hand, riding out her orgasm, and she didn't know how she stayed standing. Her body was weak, and she almost felt dazed after that.
Emma carefully removed her fingers, kissing her neck as Cat turned to face her, but instead of kissing her lips, Emma gently pushed her back onto the bed, and Cat stared up at her as she removed her own clothing, slowly unzipping her shorts and letting them slide down her legs.
Cat bit her lip as she watched her lift her top over her head and toss it to the side. She unhooked her bra and cupped her breasts as the garment fell away, dropping to the floor. Emma took her time bending over to slide her panties down her legs, giving Cat a lovely view of her breasts.
Cat swallowed as Emma climbed on top of her, straddling her thigh as she leaned in to kiss her, their breasts pressed together. Cat sighed into the kiss as Emma's lips brushed across hers, their tongues finding each other in a seductive dance. Cat's hands slid over her body, raking across her back before she groped her ass and ran her fingers through her sex with her free hand.
Cat didn't even have to part her lips to feel her wetness. She slipped her fingers inside, the heat and aroma of her sex hitting her as she moved higher, circling her clit before returning to her entrance and pushing three fingers inside of her. Emma grinding back against her hand, moaning into their kiss as her hips moved with Cat's hand, easily finding her rhythm.
"Faster," Emma whispered between kisses, her hand covering Cat's breast, rolling her nipple between her fingertips as her hips continued to rock against Cat's hand. "Yeah. Just like that."
Cat steadily increased the pace until she knew Emma was close. She held onto her ass, pushing her clit down against her hand, giving her a playful smack on each cheek before Emma's body stiffened and her orgasm took over. Her body trembled as she came, rolling her hips slowly until she was completely spent, and she collapsed into Cat's arms.
Cat kissed her cheek and then her lips before she rolled off her. "That was... incredibly hot," Cat said, a smirk on her face as she watched Emma brush a few strands of her hair away from her eyes.
"It was... That was just the beginning though," Emma said, her hand wandering down Cat's body.
"Did I mention I was into the dominant thing?"
"No... You are?"
"Definitely," Cat said, letting Emma climb on top of her again. Thankfully, she had nowhere else she needed to be, and this could take as long as they wanted. Cat closed her eyes as Emma pinned her hands above her hand as she kissed her, covering her body with her own.
Chapter 35
May 1st, 2016
Emma was surprised by how easily she settled into her new job at the hotel. She was getting some paid photography gigs on the side too, but this was the job that covered her rent and let her pick and choose the gigs she took.
Even though it was a boutique hotel it was completely different from Liberty Park in Philadelphia. The price per room was three to four times the price for starters but the whole atmosphere was different.
It was a busy hotel that made a lot of travel magazine and blogger lists, so they were nearly always booked out.
At Liberty Park, they had a lot of returning customers and Emma got to know them over the years but here she got the sense that there were always new people passing through, a lot of them celebrities.
She was close to her supervisor and when she found out that Cat was leaving the next day, she sent Emma home early.
Emma wouldn’t have asked for the time off, but she gladly accepted it when it was handed to her.
She drove back to Cat’s apartment, their apartment she had to keep reminding herself, eager to surprise Cat. She knew she’d be home packing and going through her set list, finalizing everything.
They’d have the rest of today together and then Cat would be flying out in the morning, her first stop Seattle.
She was surprised how relaxed she was about the whole thing. She knew she’d miss Caitlin, but it was only a month. She couldn’t imagine being apart from her for six months or more.
If Cat went on a full-blown tour next year, Emma would have to figure out how to go with her. She didn’t think she’d be able to handle that long of an absence.
Chapter 36
Cat was getting better at pretending the camera wasn’t there. In the beginning, Melissa had to sneak in photos because any time Cat knew they were happening they always turned out fake, like she was posing, for even the simplest things.
Now Cat had completely tuned out Melissa and her camera as she folded her clothes and put them in her suitcase at the foot of the bed. She had the surround sound system blaring with her favorite playlist on as she continued to pack.
Melissa wanted to get a few photos to post online and get Cat’s fans excited about the tour that she was starting tomorrow.
Cat looked up from what she was doing when she felt something hit her arm. Melissa had gently nudged her with her free hand, trying to get her attention.
Cat mouthed ‘What?’ to her, the music too loud for them to have a conversation. She watched Melissa try to explain with hand signals and Cat couldn’t help laughing.
She had no idea what Melissa was trying to explain, and she was in the zone, packing and singing along, while she organized her suitcase, so she really didn’t care.
Cat went back to her closet to grab a few more tops and danced her way back to her open suitcase. She continued to ignore Melissa’s confusing hand motions as she folded each shirt.
Melissa came around the other side of the bed, her camera up to her face, trying to get a better angle.
Cat playfully turned so that she was no longer in the photo. She was glad that she’d chosen Melissa. It had worked out really well. They could have fun like this most days.
They spent so much time together and Cat considered her one of her closest friends even though Melissa was technically working every time they were around each other.
She’d be coming on the road with Cat too, taking videos and photos at all the shows and backstage too, keeping her social media accounts updated.
If they didn’t get along, this would never have worked. Melissa knew how to stay out of the way too, which Cat was thankful for. She never disturbed her writing
process or interfered with her time with Emma.
Cat felt Melissa’s hand on her arm, trying to turn her back the way she was a second ago, but Cat was feeling mischievous and danced out of it, heading back to the closet while singing the chorus.
She could feel Melissa’s eyes on her as she looked through her clothing collection, picking out clothes that were comfortable to perform in.
