My arms wrapped around myself as another blow landed, breaking ribs and my collarbone. When the next blow landed against my face, I dreamt that the stars I saw fell around me instead of behind my eyes, and the scream that sounded came from my attacker instead of my own throat.
There. I stood over my humanoid body, staring at it. It looked so frail, huddled as it was on the floor. Bruised. Bloody. Dead. I felt nothing as stars continued to fall.
