“Adam,” she said, speaking loudly enough to wake him. He had gotten quiet sometime between her thoughts, and even though she would give anything to stay outside all night with him sitting on this swing, the night breeze was becoming chilly since the sun was setting low behind the mountains. “What do you say we head inside and watch a movie?”
She sat up as he adjusted in the swing behind her. “Just a movie? I thought you’d never ask.”
They shared the laughter between themselves in the quiet night as they found their way across the porch to the front door. Each held the other tight; their bond with each other was full of warmth and love, without a single doubt they were meant to be together.
After climbing into warm pajamas, Rachel grabbed the king sized quilt off the back of the couch and sat down next to Adam. There weren’t too many nights they had alone, and taking full advantage of every minute tonight was on the agenda.
“What movie were you thinking?”
Rachel tapped the side of her mouth with the tip of her finger as she looked across the room at the stack of movies they had to choose from. “I’m not really sure I was thinking of a movie, to be honest.”
“Oh, really?” He turned to face her and pulled her close. “What’d you have in mind then?”
Getting into a comfy position, she nestled herself in his arms. She mentioned the thought she’d had of lying in his arms, talking about their future and how everything she needed had been right here in Cedar Valley this entire time. There was no denying the fact that true love existed and was easier to find when you weren’t paying attention. Stumbling upon Adam was something Rachel would cherish forever.
“I love you, Adam Jacobsen.”
“I love you, too Rach.”
