“That was amazing,” he said, rolling towards me to cup my cheek. “You were resplendent.”
I didn’t feel resplendent so much as I felt sweaty, exhausted, and thoroughly sated, but I wasn’t going to mention that.
I fell asleep in Dom’s arms that night for the first time, but certainly not for the last.

Epilogue - Serena
Three Years Later
Law school was no picnic—not even with my very own ADA to help me. But I’d made it, and I was excited for my graduation later that day.
Dom had presented me with a gorgeous watch as a graduation present, but little did he know that I had a present for him as well.
“You look stunning,” he whispered as he zipped my dress up.
“Will you still think so when my stomach is out to here?” I said, gesturing in front of my tummy.
He stilled. “Are you saying what I think you’re saying?”
“That depends on what you think I’m saying. But you better get used to being called ‘Daddy,’ I said.
“You’re pregnant?” he whispered.
I nodded, and he pulled me into a deep kiss that left no doubt that he was pleased with the situation.
“I was going to wait until dinner to do this,” he said, “but I can’t wait a second longer.”
And before I knew what was happening, he was down on one knee, reaching in his pocket for an enormous solitaire ring.
“Serena, these past three years have been the happiest of my life, and I never want that happiness to go away. Will you be my wife?”
I burst into tears. I didn’t know if it was the pregnancy hormones, pure joy, or a potent combination of both. “Yes. Of course!” I said.
He slipped the ring on my finger and drew me close. And, just like that, I was back on track for the most perfect plan imaginable.
