She didn’t mind one bit.

“Like fake blood delivery guys turning into were-deers?” Samarra asked with a giggle.

“Like that, yeah,” Vix agreed with a grin.

  “Is it odd, shifting?”

She couldn’t help herself. Between her exhaustion, excitement, and maybe the coffee, she wasn’t entirely in control of what came out of her mouth. So far, Vix didn’t seem to mind. And for some reason, finding out as much as she possibly could about the man seemed entirely imperative. Like it was the most important thing she could do that day.

  Or night.

“I wouldn’t say so, but I’ve been doing it all my life,” he answered with a nonchalant shrug of his wide shoulders. “And I’m not the oldest of my brothers, so I’ve had plenty of people around me all my life showing me the ropes.”

“That must be nice, having a big family,” Samarra said with a sigh.

“Only child?” Vix queried with a raised brow, his blue eyes seeming so bright and alive.

Samarra could spend hours gazing into them and not get tired, she imagined. There had to be some magic involved in keeping her still awake and alert, at least, because she had been exhausted hours ago. Yet, here, next to Vix, she felt no desire to call it a night yet.

Especially since Vix had graciously offered her the bed, making it very clear he intended to stay on the couch alone.

“Foster kid, actually. I never knew my real family. And my adopted parents died shortly after I turned eighteen, so at best I’ve always had a tiny pod of people around me.”

“Well, I’m sure my brothers and their families will take you in immediately,” Vix said absently, before shutting up sharply.

His eyes went wide and Samarra straightened up next to him, surprise on her face.

“What are you saying?” she asked tentatively, Vix turning to look at her slowly.

He looked like a deer caught in the headlights. Which he sort of was, Samarra had to admit.

“I… um… nothing,” Vix said, his expression going through emotions so fast that Samarra couldn’t even react to one before another appeared.

He took his arm away from around Samarra’s shoulders and reached for the coffee, busying himself with something. At the same time, Samarra smiled knowingly, setting her own mug aside.

“Now, are you saying you’d like me to meet your family, Vix Frost? Aren’t you moving a little fast?” she teased, waggling her brows.

“Well, I figure we’ve gone through a kidnapping, a haunted house and some police drama together, so basically we know almost everything there is to know about one another,” Vix said, clearing his voice, with his expression still slightly sullen.

He must have been beating himself up for blurting out words like that.

God, he’s cute, Samarra thought to herself. Or am I getting ahead of myself like he is? We’ve been through a lot tonight, I should take it slow… But taking it slow with a guy who flies around the world for a living might just mean I never see him again…

She bit her lip thoughtfully as Vix finished off his coffee. His scent now had the very obvious undertone of caffeine to him, which only made him more appealing to Samarra. Not that there was much he could do to make that any different, though.

“I bet there’s more we could find out,” Samarra said, her voice getting huskier.

“Is that so?” Vix asked, the clouds clearing from his face slightly and a grin appearing in their place.

The way he looked at her made her feel like the sexiest woman in the world. He had a way of devouring her with his eyes that no other man could match and Samarra felt her breath catching.

Suddenly, the haunted house and the whole event, Thomas and all the rest of the bullshit she’d been going through lately was the furthest thing from her mind. All she really cared about was how this man tasted and whether he wanted to know what she tasted like, too.

“I think so,” she nodded, feeling her heartbeat quicken once again.

“We better get exploring then,” Vix said, bringing his hand to her chin and running his thumb along her jawline.

He left a row of goose bumps in the wake of his touch and Samarra let out a long breath, feeling her body relax under his touch. Both of them deserved a moment of release, didn’t they?

  I think we do…

  Samarra

It was Samarra who moved in for the kiss, not Vix. She thought she may have even caught him slightly off-guard, because the way he gasped when their lips met was both sexy and cute at the same time.

He tasted like pure masculinity and after the initial shock, Vix Frost didn’t let Samarra catch him unawares again. His strong hands went around her waist and he pulled her onto his lap immediately, pressing her body against his as his mouth devoured hers. Their tongues mashing together, they tasted and claimed one another, Samarra’s hands scruffing his hair.

“You taste so good,” he growled against her lips, nipping at the lower one.

“You too,” Samarra replied with a grin.

“That settles it, then,” Vix said, grabbing her by the waist.

The next thing Samarra knew, she was giggling, being thrown over Vix’s wide shoulder. He carried her through the hotel room and into the bedroom, one arm secured safely around her legs so she had no chance of slipping and falling.

Vix tossed her down on the bed and followed her immediately, covering her mouth with his before she could get a word out. Instead of protesting, she wrapped her arms around his neck and simply enjoyed the deep, passionate kiss he caught her in. His hands were already fast at work, removing her shirt and unbuttoning her jeans, seemingly unsure which piece of clothing he wanted off of her first.

It was obvious that both had to go as fast as possible, though.

While Vix tore off her shirt, she tried to wiggle out of her jeans. They were both grinning and laughing, the tension of the evening as if wiped away by that moment of freedom. Her hands hooked on his tee right when Vix moved to help her with the pants and he gave into it easily, letting her pull off his shirt.

Samarra gasped, getting the first proper and unrestricted view of this absolutely gorgeous man. His muscles rippled underneath his skin and the places where he was inked – his left arm and a tattoo bearing the ELF logo – only served to accentuate his impeccable form. He had a full six-pack, strong arms with bulging biceps, and the tuck of his waist into a delicious V-shape was so mesmerizing that Samarra couldn’t stop staring at it.

“Wow,” she muttered, barely registering the fact that he’d undone the clasp on her bra and slipped it off her body.

Now, Vix was staring at her much the same as she was at him. For a second, they were both enthralled.

Then, a bright ray of sunshine cut in through the drapes, creating a line between the two of them on the sheets. Vix looked at it and smirked.

“What are you grinning about?” Samarra asked breathlessly, finally drawing her eyes upwards even though Vix was loosening the belt on his jeans.

She was sort of afraid to see what else he was hiding. He was already way more man than she was used to… but that was probably a good thing. At least he made her mouth water and her body tingle, so it wasn’t like she wasn’t entirely up for the challenge.

“The situation. Us. I can’t believe I almost let you slip out from between my fingers,” he murmured, standing up and off the bed for a moment to shuck off his pants.

Samarra licked her lips when Vix’s thick, hard cock came into view. He was cut and ramrod straight, a tiny bead of precum glistening at the top of the purplish head. Without thinking, she leaned forward and let her thumb rub the precum around a bit, the action making Vix gasp for breath.

She kept eye contact with him throughout, at the same time feeling just how wet her panties were getting. Clenching her thighs, Samarra leaned forward, letting her palm glide up and down Vix’s rigid length now. When her palm closed around his girth, Vix pushed his head back, every muscle in his body tensing.

  He made for a
gorgeous sight, standing there in the morning sun, the warm, bright rays creating a halo around him. His blue eyes seemed brighter than ever, and at the same time so soft and affectionate even in their moment of lust.

Samarra jerked him a couple of times, loving the way the veins plumped up under her touch and how he seemed to grow even harder when she touched him. Though she’d thought that to be entirely impossible.

How hard and big can a cock get? she wondered with some amusement.

“Do you like that?” she asked teasingly, batting her long lashes up at him.

“I like anything you do to me,” Vix growled, bending at the waist to cup her chin and kiss her again.

Samarra’s hand forgot what it was doing and Vix pushed her back on the bed, getting on top of her. His hard planes were perfect against her soft curves, the two of them seemingly completing one another even in the simple act of just being against one another. Samarra’s legs spread eagerly for him, her pussy wet and pulsing with anticipation.

When Vix reached down and brushed the strip of fabric aside to let his fingers dip into her wet heat, Samarra whined out a sigh, biting his lower lip in the process. Vix growled something unintelligible into her mouth and in the next second, Samarra found herself without her panties and with that thick, heavenly cock pressing against her entrance.

“Do you want this?” he asked, his voice straining as he held himself up with his arms pinning her on either side.

Looking up into Vix’s blue eyes, Samarra had never been surer of anything.

  Yes!

“Yes, I want this. I want this so bad,” she mewled, grabbing him by the hair and demanding a kiss from him, just as Vix thrust into her.

Her core throbbed and her body clenched around him as Vix entered her, spreading her for him. He was so big and thick and absolutely amazing that Samarra thought she’d just pass out right then and there from the lust and the pleasure. Behind her closed eyelids, stars seemed to dance and her body rocked with every motion he made as he pounded into her, his lips never leaving hers.

Their tongues twisted together even as she screamed into his mouth and Vix growled his assent, every bucking movement bringing him deeper in her until he’d filled her completely. For one amazing moment, Samarra felt as complete as she ever could feel, perfectly in tune with the man who was making love to her.

And that was exactly what it was. While it was rough and hard and sweaty, it was definitely also sensual, and honest, and absolutely breathtaking. He was worshipping her body and her soul as much as she was doing the same for him, admiring him for all that he was.

I guess love at first sight is almost a thing, Samarra thought in her haze, clinging to Vix like her life depended on it.

She pushed him back a little and he gave in to her touch, rolling them over so Samarra was on top. She whimpered as she sunk down on his cock hard, taking him all in. In fact, she shuddered a little, her pussy feeling raw and sensitive.

“Too much?” Vix asked, sweat slicking back his hair.

“Not yet,” Samarra answered with a smile, starting to rock her hips back and forth.

The way Vix’s eyes rolled back in his head was the best thing she’d seen in forever, though her body basically mirrored what Vix’s was doing. Her clit was rubbing up against Vix’s body and the slight scruff of his pubic hair, every grinding motion sending Samarra closer and closer to the edge.

“Oh my god,” she murmured as Vix’s hands grabbed her by the hips and started moving her faster in a demanding rhythm.

Her pussy clenched down on Vix’s cock and he grunted out a groan from between gritted teeth. Samarra played with her breasts, teasing her nipples while Vix watched and their bodies moved in rhythm. There was no shyness, not an ounce of discomfort when she was with him. It was liberating in a way Samarra could have never even imagined.

All her life, she’d preferred the lights to be off when she had sex, as if there was something to be ashamed of. Now, though? She wanted to see everything, and she wanted Vix to see all of her as well. With the way he was eating her up with his eyes, there was no other way that it could have gone, anyway!

Feeling the heat come to a blaze within her, Samarra’s body tensed. She threw her head back as she rode Vix, loving the way his cock pulsed in her and seemed to react to everything and anything she did to him. When she couldn’t take it anymore and Vix thrust into her deep, sending her over the edge, she wasn’t even surprised to hear Vix’s growl as he came as well.

His thick, hot seed spilled into her as Samarra rode out her orgasm, Vix keeping her securely on top of him even when she seemed to lose all control over her own body. Gasping, shivering and blushing, Samarra collapsed on top of his chest, Vix’s arms going around her body immediately and cradling her against him, as if that was exactly where she was meant to be.

Like he was never going to let her go.

For an insane moment, she kind of wished he wouldn’t, either…

  Vix

“Oh my God!” Samarra shrieked, rousing Vix from his deep, perfectly enjoyable slumber.

It was hard not to enjoy sleep when the most perfect woman had been curled up in his arms for the duration of it, after all.

“Huh?” Vix asked, drowsy with sleep.

What woke him up immediately was Samarra slipping out from his embrace and starting to run around the room, picking up all her clothes and throwing them on haphazardly.

“I like hearing you say that, but I prefer it when your clothes are coming off your body, not going on it,” Vix commented with a yawn, propping himself up on one elbow.

Even in his sleepy state, rubbing his eyes, he had to stop and appreciate the vision of his caramel-skinned goddess flitting around. Every movement of her body seemed like pure poetry to him, and Vix had never been much for appreciation of art. With Samarra though, he was very, very willing to make a giant exception.

“Where’s the hurry?” he tried again, sitting up in their mussed up sheets.

“I’m late! It’s almost eleven, and I was supposed to be at the house at eight. Where the hell’s my phone?!”

“Probably in the living room,” Vix offered, reluctantly getting out of bed and stepping into his jeans.

His personal mental image of the perfect morning would have been Samarra back in the bed with him, enjoying a particularly long session of him going down on her, but apparently the fates were not on his side this time.

I guess they’ve been nice enough to me so far, he decided groggily, looking around for his shirt.

While his brothers had tried to describe what it felt like to find one’s fated, Vix had never really believed it. Sure, it sounded nice – who wouldn’t like to feel like twice the man he is, filled with infinite power – and it was, but what his brothers had neglected to warn him about was how exhausting it was.

Vix was no stranger to long nights and keeping a woman well and truly satisfied, but damn, it had taken it out of him this time. It was like everything was heightened threefold with Samarra and that included the lovely, all-encompassing tiredness that came after the deed was done.

He was still wrestling with his shirt, standing barefooted in the bedroom, when he heard the click of the front door. With his eyes going wide, Vix rushed forward, almost slamming against the doorframe because his vision was impaired due to the shirt.

“Samarra!” he yelped, catching her right at the door.

She looked disheveled, nervous and like she was running from an axe murderer. The look on her face made him stop dead in his tracks and smooth the shirt over his abs.

“Where’s the rush?” he asked, feeling the air get uncomfortably tense between the two of them.

“I’m late. My team’s called me like ten times, as well as the cops. I’m sorry, I have to go,” she said, her words getting quieter with each one she spoke, like she was running out of air. “And besides, you have to be getting back to your work as well, right? You were supposed to leave early this morning.”

Vix frowned at that. She wasn’t wrong, but the look on her face told him that she wasn’t being entirely honest with him either. He scruffed a hand through his hair, feeling like he’d just gotten kicked in the gut.

“Okay,” he said sullenly. “Good luck with the haunted house. I’m sure you’ll knock their socks off.”

Samarra smiled, though it didn’t come off anywhere near as bright and genuine as he’d come accustomed to. Instead, she looked nervous, sad, and entirely unsure of herself.

  “Thank you!”

With that, she was out the door, though her hand hesitated a moment before pulling it shut behind her.

Vix Frost was left standing in the middle of a hotel room in Salem, wondering what the hell had just happened.

No one had ever warned him that dealing with his fated would be this confusing.

This is ridiculous. You’re not supposed to be here. You don’t even know if she wants you here.

That was only a small sampling of all the excuses and rationalizations Vix had gone through during the day. He’d almost made it to the Big Red, before he turned the truck around and headed back into Salem. By the time he’d gotten there, it was already evening. Halloween traffic into Salem didn’t joke around.

The call with Ru, his little brother in charge of logistics, had been a short, curt one. There really wasn’t any nice way of saying that he was blowing off his shift in favor of a girl, but after he’d used the word ‘fated’, Ru had backed off a bit. It was no surprise, really.

Ru was probably the biggest romantic the Frost clan had.

Standing very still, Vix considered his options and the many twists and turns his life had taken to bring him here. He was standing in the corner of the study where he’d first laid eyes on Samarra, patiently waiting for her to show up again. All around him, he could hear screaming and laughing, sometimes at the same time.

So far, it seemed that the haunted house was a real success.

With the mannequin Vix had tackled the previous night disassembled in the corner once more, Vix had taken its place. He wore the large black tarp-like cover over him and was brandishing the fake knife. Every time the mechatronics of the little engine that had moved the mannequin whirred to life, he’d do the same thing that the prop had.
