“Very,” Gwen replied, “I don’t remember kisses making me this wet before.” She took the condom from him, kissing him as she put it on. She turned around and bent over, resting her hands on the stairs.

Adrian held her hips and pulled her against him. From the sounds she was making, she was enjoying it a lot and that made Adrian feel good. She seemed to be genuinely enjoying him, which meant he was good at something again. Just as he climaxed he felt something change. “Shit,” he whispered and pulled out, “Oh, shit.”

“What’s wrong? That was great, better than great. I’ve never orgasmed like that before.”

“Shit, shit, shit,” Adrian said, as he tucked himself in.

  “What’s the matter?” Gwen asked.

  Adrian opened his hand, “This.”

  “It broke?”

Adrian nodded, “Right at the last minute.”

“Um, oh well, you’re okay, right? You’re not sick or anything?”

  “Clean as a whistle.”

Gwen patted his arm, “It’s okay, it’s fine. It happens.” She opened the small handbag over her shoulder and took out a container of antibacterial baby wipes. She handed him one.

“Thank you. What a weird thing to carry around.”

“You never know if tables or whatever are dirty. I carry them everywhere.”

Adrian nodded. He put the condom back into the packet and wiped his hand. “I’m sorry.”

Gwen asked him to come closer. Adrian moved closer and Gwen kissed him on both cheeks. “It was great. You’re incredibly sexy and if you just knocked me up then it’s fate.” She hugged him. “I haven’t had sex in a few years, like maybe five or six. The way you held my hips, and your body against me, it was hot. It really felt like you knew what you were doing.”

“I take it you haven’t done anything like that before?”

“It took four months with my last boyfriend and he was a missionary position guy. I’ve never had sex not in a missionary position until now actually.”

Adrian had heard that before somewhere. He smiled, “Reckon we should go have dinner and get to know each other a little?”

“What else is there to know? You’re sexy, you’re built, you’re a good lay, you have some psychological issues and you’re a cop. Let’s get married.”

Adrian laughed and took Gwen’s hand. He led her back through the doors and back to their table with ‘29’ on it. He held the chair out for her and pushed it in as she sat. He sat down opposite her and looked around. “Think anyone noticed we were gone?”

“Yeah, considering our table is right in the middle, you’re hot and I’m in the mini skirt from hell, yeah, I think they noticed.”

Adrian laughed, “Yep, oh well, we’re all strangers here.”

“Actually I know two people here apart from you. Sharon, over there, and Ben, over there.”

Adrian looked where she was pointing. “Christ, where’d he come from.”

“He’s different, isn’t he? You don’t see many men like around here. I can’t imagine how he and Sharon ended up as a match. And Ben seems to have been put with Bigfoot.”

“You think she’s a gorilla? She’s pretty and well put together, just a lot bigger than most people.”

“If you go in for that Amazon warrior look. She’d scare the heck out of me in bed if I was a man. That’s probably why they paired her with Ben. He’s got a twelve inch penis,” Gwen said.

  Adrian laughed loudly.

Gwen laughed too, “He probably doesn’t but that’s what he says, and he really seems to believe it. He’s offered to show it to me at work and I wasn’t falling for that.”

  “Do women care about that?”

“I don’t,” Gwen replied, “But you’re plenty big enough, in case you wondered. It’s a very good size and it knows how to move.”

  Adrian smiled, “Sorry about before.”

“I’m not sorry. It’s not normally something I would do before the first date even starts, but I’m not sorry.”

“Oh? So there’s a chance we could do it again?” Adrian asked.

“Yes, tonight if you want. I felt something for you the minute I saw you. Do you want to see more of me? Apart from a portion of my bum and whatever isn’t in my clothes?”

Adrian laughed, “You’re attractive, Gwendolyn, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to spend more time with you. Talking, of course.”

  “Talking?”

Adrian nodded, “You seemed interested in listening to me before.”

“I am, very. I like the way your mouth moves when you talk.”

Adrian folded his arms, “I considered jumping.”

“I think it would be a terrible waste, Adrian. I’ve only known you a very short time and I already know you’re wonderful.”

“Is that a pick-up line? You don’t even know me.”

“You’re not going to get any less wonderful than you are right now. I bet you’re all kinds of wonderful. I bet there are so many wonderful things about you that I would get breathless trying to list them.”

Adrian liked the way that Gwen was looking at him. It made him feel good about himself. “Would you like to dance?”

  “You can dance?”

  Adrian nodded, “I certainly can.”

“That’s amazing, like something you read about in romance books. I would love to dance.”

Adrian woke up and the room was getting brighter. There was something different. He put his hand to his chest and there was an arm. He felt up the arm and turned his head. A pair of oval lips was the first thing he noticed. They curved into a smile as he moved his hand up to the shoulder. He looked to the closed eyelids. They sprung open and blue eyes met his. Two small lines appeared next to each eye as the smiled deepened. “Hello, sexy.”

Adrian smiled, “Hi.” He wasn’t sure what he was supposed to say. He’d never woken up in someone else’s bed before.

“Can I do anything for you?”

“Like what?” Adrian asked, “I don’t want to put you to any trouble.”

  “You’re worth it,” Gwen whispered.

Adrian smiled and put his hands behind his head.

Gwen ran her nose across his armpit. “Even your armpits smell good. Would you like to have sex?”

Adrian laughed and wrapped his arms around Gwen. He rolled her over and then he was on top of her. “Are you sure you want me?”

  “More than anything,” she whispered.

  “Why?”

“I’ve never seen a body like yours up close,” Gwen said.

“Oh.” Adrian felt disappointed. Women always just wanted the body.

“It’s true, and I thought it was the right thing to say seeing as we’re naked and your erection is against me.”

Adrian nodded and smiled, “Of course.”

“We talked for about six hours. That’s amazing. You’re the most intelligent man I’ve ever spoken to and you’re so calm and rational, despite being occasionally suicidal and broken hearted over a woman. You also have a wonderful sense of humour. I almost wet my pants at some of your jokes. I think you’re incredible.”

Adrian smiled and kissed Gwen’s lips. “I like the way your lips move against mine.”

“I want your lips against mine,” Gwen said.

“I’ve never done anything like this before,” Adrian said.

  “Like what?”

“Like woken up in a stranger’s bed or on floral sheets.”

“Waking up with someone can be good. I lived in my boyfriend’s house for a while. He used to wake up with an erection every morning.”

  “You had sex every morning?”

“No, he used to jerk off,” Gwen laughed, “Even though I was right there. He occasionally used my tits as inspiration.”

Adrian moved the sheet to look at Gwen’s breasts, “Hmm. I guess they are kind of inspirational.” He moved forward and Gwen moaned.

  “You’r
e in,” she breathed.

  “Should I stay in?”

“Maybe you should move out a little, then in, then out, then in.”

Adrian laughed, “I’m not wearing anything.”

“Cream my belly,” Gwen said, looking into his eyes.

Adrian surged forward and put his lips to Gwen’s. He thrust into her kissing her as she moaned into his mouth. She wrapped her legs around him, urging him forward with her feet on his buttocks. He moved up onto his hands and looked at Gwen’s face. She was looking into his eyes and her body was moving to meet his.

“Adrian, Adrian,” she whispered, “Oh, Adrian.”

Adrian smiled and studied her face as she said his name.

“You have beautiful teeth,” Gwen panted.

Adrian smiled again and thrust faster. Gwen panted harder and arched under him. He watched her breasts surge upwards in the morning light as she reached orgasm. He pulled out and went to put his hand under where he was going to ejaculate, but she grabbed his hand and moved it away so he ejaculated onto her abdomen.

“Rub it in,” she panted. Adrian tilted his head and looked at her face. She nodded. He moved his hand across her abdomen where he had ejaculated and she closed her eyes, smiling. “Cool, I’ve never done that before. That was wild.”

  Adrian smiled, “You’re different.”

“When was the last time you had semen on your hand?” she asked.

Adrian put his hand between her breasts and wiped down in a line. “I don’t remember.”

She laughed, “You’re going to have to wash that off now. I have a spa bath, want to hop in?”

“Okay,” Adrian said, moving over on the bed.

“I’ll go get it started,” Gwen said.

Adrian licked his bottom lip watching her walking to the bathroom. He put his hands behind his head and looked at the ceiling, trying to figure out what was going on. They had sex, they danced, they ate, they talked for hours, they had sex, he slept in her bed and now he was wiping semen on her. It was a strange progression and definitely nothing he’d done before. He wondered if this counted as breaking his routine. He shook his head. He didn’t really feel like he was in charge of this situation and that didn’t suit him.

Gwen called him from the bathroom so he got out of bed and walked into the bathroom naked. Gwen looked at him head to toe and smiled. “Adrian, you’re a god. You have an amazing body and you have a really good looking penis too. Look at how nicely it sits there. Wowzers.”

Adrian smiled and looked down at himself. Gwen gestured him to the bath, so he stepped in. Gwen climbed in and sat in front of him. She leant back on him and found his hands so she could wrap his arms around her.

“I wasn’t sure if two people would fit, but we do. I hope there aren’t too many bubbles.”

“I’ve never done this before,” Adrian said.

“Me neither. I’m usually shy and trying to cover up, but I feel really comfortable with you.”

  “That’s great to hear.”

“You obviously have no shame in being naked with a body like that. And I see you have no tattoos.”

“A mate of mine got a tattoo and picked up Hep C. That scared the fuck out of me. Besides I wouldn’t know what to get or where.”

“You don’t judge me for having one?”

“No. It’s a little heart on your ankle. Now if you had a tramp stamp that said ‘Welcome aboard’ I might be concerned,” Adrian joked.

Gwen laughed, “They’re terrible, aren’t they? They get them for the guy to have something to look at while they’re doing it doggy style, what’s the point? I wanted to be able to see mine.”

Adrian rested back and moved further down the bath, “I could fall asleep here.”

“You’re welcome to fall asleep. I’ll keep your head above water.”

Adrian smiled and closed his eyes, “I can’t remember the last time I had a bath.”

“I can turn the jets on for a massage, but this is nice. Did I tell you that I’d really like to spend some time getting to know you?”

“There may be something wrong with you, Gwendolyn. Even my own father doesn’t want to know me. When I get to the Station I’m going to run you through the system.”

Gwen laughed and patted his legs, “How romantic. I’ve never even had a speeding fine so good luck finding anything about me.”

“That wasn’t what I meant to say,” Adrian said.

Gwen turned around and sat at the other end of the bath and put her legs down beside his. “What did you mean to say?”

“I meant to say that I don’t think I’m someone you want to know. I’m not at my best at the moment.”

“You told me that last night, but if I want to get to know you then shouldn’t that be up to me?” Gwen asked.

“It should, but I’ve got nothing to offer you right now. I’m not in great place and I kind of feel like I’m drowning.”

  “What’s your middle name?”

  “Finlay.”

Gwen smiled, “That’s a lovely name. I know I raised it, but my middle name is too horrible so I’m not going to tell you what it is.”

Adrian laughed, “That’s okay. I’ll run you through the system.”

Gwen laughed and splashed water at him. “Fine, I’ll tell you now, it’s Petunia.”

Adrian threw his head back and laughed, and was silenced as a sponge hit him in the face. He looked at Gwen, “Nice shot.”

“It shut you up,” she replied, “Petunia is a horrible name. I know that. But it is my name. Gwendolyn Petunia Fisher, and here I am, naked in a bathtub with a man I met last night that I could spend the rest of my life with.”

Adrian looked at Gwen’s face and then found her foot and lifted it up. He looked at the sole of her foot and then her toes.

“I only have five toes on each foot,” she replied, “So if we’re going to breed then our kids should get the right number too.”

Adrian put her foot down. He didn’t even know why he had picked it up. “Gwen, I don’t know how to be in a relationship. The closest thing I had to a relationship ended with her marrying the man of her dreams not that long ago. I’m still struggling with how much I miss her.”

  “What’s her name?”

Adrian didn’t know if he should hold that sacredly to his heart or just put it out there. “Let’s call her ‘Butterfly’.”

“Okay, Adrian, so a piece of your heart will always belong to Butterfly. A piece of my heart is always going to belong to Philip Panetta. He was the man I lost my virginity to when I was sixteen and we were going to be together forever. Unfortunately, a week before my twenty first birthday, he killed himself on a motorcycle driving like an idiot. I will no doubt compare the way he made me feel to everyone else I ever meet, and I’ll love him forever, but he’s not here.”

“I might see her somewhere or something, you’re not going to see him.”

“Yes, I am. Every year I take him flowers for his birthday and tell him I love him, and I will always have a framed picture of him in my home. If circumstances had been different we’d be together, but they’re not and we aren’t. If you see her then you say ‘hello’ and tell her how good she looks and you move on. That’s what you do with exes. If you think you’re going to love her forever then you can do it from any distance. Can’t you? I can be pretty jealous, but if we get one candle each then that’s fair. Can you move on from her?”

“I don’t know yet. It’s too soon for me to know that. I don’t even understand love properly. I was in love with her the whole time I knew her, from the first time we met, and I wasted time that I could have spent with her and now she’s gone. While I’m here with you, I just want to focus on you, I think that will help, but I’m not really in a position to embark on a relationship. I’m still in the middle of a lot and I’m depressed. I’m confused about how I’m feeling about a few people around me and I have suicidal thoughts sometimes.”

“You’re not going to kill yourself. Your
Butterfly would have to live with that for the rest of her life knowing that you ended her life because of her. Don’t do that to her, or to me who said you wouldn’t do it. I won’t give up on you, Adrian. I’ll wait until you’re ready. I won’t push you, not while she’s still so fresh in your heart. But you’re worth waiting for. I’m certain you’re the best guy I’ve ever met.”

  “I am?”

“Yes you are. I told you that I felt something as soon as I saw you. I know where I want to be already, so I don’t need to look any more. I really think you’re the one for me. Go deal with whatever you need to deal with and when our paths cross again, we’ll try again. I won’t even give you my number or ask you for yours. I believe in destiny, and I have faith that if you and I are going to be together then we’ll find each other again.”
