Astrid led the Dellinians along with Rune, and they eventually got married. They explored time-travel in greater depth and forged a shining new civilization, while observing and helping their human neighbors.
Cipher chose to continue with the Dellinians. He generally kept to himself when it came to strangers, but slowly pieced the relationship with his brother back together. It was a struggle for him, always fighting against his darker desires. Making a conscious effort every single day to be honest and kind. It was never easy and he made mistakes, but he’d made his choice. His history was rarely mentioned. The children of the Dellinians knew him as a quiet, responsible man. Most never guessed at his dark past. Anyone would tell you he was a hard worker who threw all his effort into any project he thought would contribute to the community. Forgiveness was given by many who lived through his crimes.
Ris recovered from her experience with Cipher and the war and continued to be a light with her positive outlook.
Honor became the official Dellinian historian. She would sit at her desk for hours writing down the history she remembered—and the new history that was being created day by day, project by project. Astrid was her closest friend. Someone she could truly trust. That meant the world to Honor. As she forged new friendships, she found she wasn’t alone anymore.
Astrid persevered even when things seemed toughest. She never thought of herself as a hero, though many others did. Eventually, she became legend, though her story never lost its truth or became tarnished by exaggeration. Ultimately, it was lovingly painted onto the walls of the Dellinian cave where a girl named Gale saw it thousands of years later, and wondered if Astrid had gone through any of the same struggles.
In ways that she couldn’t even begin to imagine, Astrid touched the lives of others and inspired them.
As she hovered over the stunning city of Dellinia, she marveled at the journey that had changed everything in a matter of years. What a breathtaking thing born out of so much anguish. Silver is only one step from grey.
