  I love to fight.

I’m a badass cage fighting chick who knows how to handle her fists. I’ve knocked out every girl in my division on my way to domination.

But this planet is bringing me to my knees.

Meteors, aliens, monsters, dinosaurs, and annoying robots.

But there’s someone else bringing me to my knees.

And truth be told, I kinda like it down here.

My sexy blue savior Pontuck is making sure of that.

I thought I was a fighter but Pontuck is on a whole other level.

  He’s relentless.

Because this big blue alien barbarian is fighting for my heart.

  And he may just win.

Book Two in the Aliens of Zandipor Series.

Standalone (but better enjoyed after reading the first book). HEA.

  Another word from Kim Fox:

  James Cameron, I’m still waiting…

  WTF?!?

Have your people call my people. Oh wait, I don’t have any people…

  one

  “I am the predator.”

I say it over and over again as I drag my thumb under my eyes, spreading the thick mud over my skin like warpaint.

“He’s the prey. He’s the one who should be cowering in fear.”

I flex my arms and roll my head from side to side as I jump up and down, getting amped up.

“I am the predator. I am the killer.”

I shadow box and think of the moment when I knocked out the unbeatable Julie Craven. The roar of the crowd, the stinging of my jaw, the aching in my knuckles, the slapping of her back as it fell to the canvas.

“I am the baddest creature in this hell hole. I will prevail.”

I am ready. Ready to fight. Ready to die.

My opponent is no Julie Craven. It’s a whole other beast. On a whole other level.

  “I am the predator.”

  I got this.

My heart is racing, my adrenaline jacked as I turn to the entrance of the cave.

It’s been about nine days since I pulled myself out of the river, cold, wet and alone. Nine days of living in this tiny cave. Nine days of hiding.

  Nine days of being hunted.

  There won’t be a tenth.

I clench and unclench my hands into fists as I roll my shoulders in anticipation.

He’s out there. He’s probably watching me now, like he’s done for the past nine days. Waiting patiently for me to come out. Waiting anxiously for me to screw up.

Well, I’m coming out now. But I don’t intend on screwing up.

“I am the predator. I am the killer.”

It gets harder to say the words as I approach the exit of the cave. As I prepare to leave the safety of it that has kept me alive for the past week and a half.

I force myself to say it.

“I am the predator. He is the prey.”

There’s no room in my body for fear. There’s no room for doubt.

My knees scrape against the rough rock as I drop to all fours and prepare to crawl through the small opening.

I am the predator. I will win.

The adrenaline surging through my veins makes me feel invincible. The doubt creeping into my mind disagrees.

“You are Rolanda fucking Vogel,” I whisper as I crawl forward, ignoring the thoughts telling me to retreat that are rushing forward like a tsunami. “You are the youngest female fighter to win the Markson World’s MMA Cup. You broke Chris Davenport’s nose in the tenth grade. You killed aliens and flew a fucking UFO. You got this. You can do anything!”

I scrunch down as the ceiling of the cave’s entrance scratches my back. I take a deep breath and continue forward. The sunlight is like a flashlight in my eyes in the middle of the night. I wince as I crawl back and shut my eyes, opening them slowly to let them adjust.

It’s been nine days since I’ve been out of this cave. I was hoping that he would get tired or bored and leave but he doesn’t seem to be following my plan. He wants a taste of earthling.

I squeeze my hand into a fist and clench my jaw closed. Well, he’s going to get a fucking taste.

It’s time to show this monster what the human race is made of.

I reach forward and close my fingers around the spear that I made. It’s not much. Just a stick that I sharpened with a rock but it’s all that I have.

A homemade spear against a velociraptor? He doesn’t stand a chance.

“I am the predator. I am the killer.”

My eyes finally adjust and I scan what little of the colorful forest that I can see. No sign of him.

But he’s out there. I know he’s out there.

The tree to my left has an orange trunk with purple leaves. It’s like a colorblind kid went to town coloring the scenery. I hate it.

I hate everything about it. Everything about this place.

The bushes to my right are bright red with green things growing on them. It looks like a reverse apple tree.

This whole planet looks like a rainbow threw up on it.

A loud chirping sound rips through the forest and the birds with the heads that look like mini crocodile heads take to the sky. A cold shiver snakes down my sweaty back.

“You got this, Rolanda,” I whisper to myself. Has my voice always been this shaky?

I think of the quote that was painted in big block letters on the wall of my MMA gym. It was from Mark Twain; It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in t
he dog.

And there’s a lot of fight in this dog. I’m a fucking alpha wolf.

I squeeze the spear in my hand as I crawl forward, letting my head pop out of the small opening of the cave.

A snake with horns on its head sees me and slithers forward. I crush its skull with a hammer punch.

This whole planet is against me. It’s not a fair fight.

  For them.

“I am the predator. I am the killer.”

I repeat it over and over again as I step to my feet, holding the spear forward.

The velociraptor has been stalking me for days. Constantly waiting in the bushes, hiding in plain sight. This is his arena but he doesn’t know who’s he picked a fight with. He doesn’t know who he’s fucking with. If he did, he would be on the other side of Zandipor, hiding.

I wipe my sweaty palms on my shorts as I scan the bright hues of the forest, looking for Veddy. That’s what I named him.

My heart is racing as something moves the leaves of a nearby bush. Every rational thought in my head is screaming at me to crawl back into the safety of the cave.

I’m done crawling. I scream back at the voices urging me to take the cowardly way out to shut the fuck up. This ends now. I’m done being the prey.

“I am the predator,” I whisper. “I am the killer.”

I creep forward with a firm grip on my spear. It feels good to be the hunter. To be the one doing the stalking.

I was never made to back down. To run. I was made for this.

The leaves of the bush shake as Veddy comes into view. I gulp as his head slowly pops out from behind the yellow leaves.

  “Holy shit.”

Fists I can handle. Teeth not so much.

I suddenly remember why I’ve been hiding in the cave for nine days.

The sight of his teeth takes the strength out of my legs and my knees nearly buckle.

What good is an alpha wolf against a straight up monster?

I flex my muscular arms and grit my teeth, trying to get some of that adrenaline back but it’s all dried up. All I’m left with is a stomach that feels rock hard and a horrible taste in my mouth.

He steps forward on his enormous feet with the razor-sharp claws the size of sickles, and I glance over at the entrance of the cave. I’m too far. I’d be able to reach it but he’d easily grab my feet and yank me out before I could crawl inside.

It’s fight or flight time. And there’s no way I could outrun him.

I squeeze the homemade spear in my hand which feels incredibly flimsy now. His tan skin looks so tough, like thick leather. This spear is going to snap before it pierces his rough hide.

“I am the predator. I am the killer.”

But Veddy disagrees. He raises his head and lets out a chirping sound that makes me wish I was back on the alien spaceship that abducted me and brought me here. Actually, I wish I was anywhere but here.

“Stay back,” I warn, thrusting the spear forward. He tilts his head as he watches me curiously with his chilling yellow eyes.

“I’m not going to be an easy meal,” I say, keeping my chest thrust out as I walk backward. “You want to lose an eye just to try an earthling girl whose muscles are going to make her taste too tough anyway?”

He steps forward as I back up. Shit.

“Alright, fucker,” I hiss, gripping the spear. “Losing an eye it is. Come on!”

I step forward, swallowing my fear and letting rage take its place. I picture all of my friends and family, everyone I’ve ever known, dead. I picture the aliens who took me, the fucking robot who harassed us, the two new friends I made, Avery and Mandy, only to lose them and have them drowned or eaten by one of Veddy over there’s cousins.

I plant my feet wide apart, just like my trainer showed me to do when I was six-years-old. I take a deep breath and grin. This is a warrior’s life. A warrior’s death.

I’ve always strived to be a warrior and I’m not about to hang it all up the moment that I’m finally tested.

I push down the fear, the doubt, the shakiness, the panic.

And what’s left is pure rage.

“I am the predator. I am the killer.”

  I am Rolanda fucking Vogel.

The velociraptor hisses as it lowers its head ready to charge.

“Come on fucker,” I say, crouching forward as I bring the spear back. “Let’s do this!”

He charges forward in a blur and just like that, it’s on.

  two

The swift and strong Cookie Monster pulls back the feathered arrow notched on his bow and aims up at the boomercan swinging from branch to branch of the enger tree. Cookie Monster aims for the beast’s soum. A quick death is what the beast deserves.

Creepe does not agree. He places a hand on Cookie Monster’s bow and lowers it down as the boomercan gets away. He cannot get away. It has been a long march and Cookie Monster is hungry.

“Watch the vigorous Creepe take down the beast with only an ax,” Creepe says, lifting his stone ax over his head.

Cookie Monster cringes as the ax takes to the sky, spinning blade over handle until it sinks into the back of the boomercan. The helpless creature shrieks as it falls from the enger tree and slams into the ground of the forest.

Creepe turns around with a smug grin. Cookie Monster does not like him.

The beasts and creatures of Zandipor feed the Drandroka and keep the planet alive. All Drandroka should honor them with swift deaths but Creepe does not agree. He lets the creatures suffer for his own amusement. He makes his kills slow and sloppy.

Creepe laughs as he walks over to the boomercan who is screeching on the ground with the stone ax in his back. He steps on the creature’s head as he pulls out the ax.

He takes too long. He lets them suffer.

An arrow flies into the crook of Cookie Monster’s bow. He releases the arrow that sails through the boomercan’s soum, killing him as fast as the strike of a wicker.

Creepe turns to the powerful Cookie Monster with a frown. “That was Creepe’s kill,” he says in a booming voice.

Cookie Monster grabs another arrow and glides his fingers through the soft feathers. Just in case.

“Then kill it next time,” Cookie Monster says. “You fill it with pain for no reason. Send it to the Land of the Nevatrun and be done with it. If you don’t, the swift and powerful Cookie Monster will.”

Creepe booms out a laugh, making Cookie Monster’s insides go as hard as the sentra rock.

“Your name is Pontuck,” Creepe says, his muscular shoulders rolling with laughter. “Why do you insist on being called that ridiculous name? Because the pink Sandroka whore gave it to you?”

Cookie Monster’s insides are raging like a volterno at the insult. His vision is as red as the Juju plant. The beautiful and honorable Saku Avery, gave Pontuck the highest honor in all of Zandipor when she bestowed him with the name of Cookie Monster. It has been the proudest moment of Cookie Monster’s life.

  And Creepe mocks it.

  And he mocks the Saku.

“Avery is the true Saku,” the swift Cookie Monster says as he notches an arrow and aims it at Creepe’s traitorous face. Cookie Monster remembers how Creepe stood by Loupen’s side against Avery. He helped capture Turic and tried to kill the one true Saku. He cannot be trusted.

Creepe laughs as he picks up the dead boomercan by its long tail. He walks back dragging its head on the ground. Creepe does not recite the hunter’s song, honoring its death. Creepe disgraces the creature with his actions.

“The pink Sandroka is a whore,” Creepe repeats, brushing past Cookie Monster and bumping his shoulder into his.

The powerful Cookie Monster could place an arrow between Creepe’s disrespectful eyes but he does not. He lowers his bow instead.

“Avery slew two of the many fanged beasts,” Cookie Monster says, raising his powerful chin. “How could she do that if she is not the true Saku as you claim?”

Creepe laughs. A vile and nauseating sound. “May
be the pink whore killed the beasts with the wicked smell of her culip.”

The arrow is back in Cookie Monster’s bow, aimed at Creepe’s neck.

“Do not say another word about the Saku or the swift Cookie Monster will let his arrow fly at your chest.”

Creepe shakes his head and mutters something, but Cookie Monster cannot hear what he said.

“Drop the boomercan,” Cookie Monster orders. “The hunter’s song must be sung.”

Creepe rolls his eyes and tosses the dead boomercan to the dirt at Cookie Monster’s swift feet. “You do it. Saku lover.”

Cookie Monster puts the arrow back in his quiver as the disrespectful Creepe turns and walks away. It shouldn’t be like this. Cookie Monster should be alone. He left the village under the Saku and the mighty Turic’s orders to find the missing pink Sandrokas.

He traveled over the rocky mountains and past the smoky valley when he saw Creepe in the distance. He tried to sneak away but Creepe’s ears were too strong and he rushed over. They have been together since.

The powerful Cookie Monster had planned to leave but Creepe’s tracking abilities were much better than his. So he stayed.

After giving Cookie Monster his name, the honorable Saku Avery, told him that two pink Sandrokas were alone and needed his help. Cookie Monster saw how lucky the mighty Turic was to have his own mate and he wanted the same for himself, so he ran as fast as a gicolat to find one.

Many other Drandroka are out here as well, searching for their own pink Sandroka but Cookie Monster hopes that he will find one first. He has to find one before Creepe.

Even an honorable Saku would be in fear of mating with the disrespectful Creepe.

Cookie Monster drops to a knee and sings the hunter’s song over the body of the fallen boomercan. The boomercan can now go to the glorious Land of the Nevatrun. He will be with his fallen brothers. He will be at peace.
