Marcus lunged forward but Mythos and Grifyn held him back. She saw them whispering in his ear but it didn’t even ease him slightly.
“Let me in Reyn,” Cymeryn hissed into her ear. “Let me in so I can take you or I will stab you right here and revel in both of your pain as he watches you bleed.”
Tears ran down her face as she met Marcus’ eyes. She knew he was on the verge of caving to his brother’s will even now. She couldn’t let him see her bleed at Cymeryn’s hand. She could only hope Mythos and Grifyn were capable of pulling him back from the ledge before he fell over it.
I love you. Was the last thought she sent him before she opened herself to Cymeryn. She felt the icy cold tendrils of his essence as it invaded her. She grimaced as part of her rushed forward to meet it, welcoming it. The pain she saw in her mate’s eyes as the wisps of shadow enshrouded them nearly broke her in half as he faded from her sight.

Here’s a taste of Secrets Past: Mists of the Fae Book 2:
Sneak Peak
Marcus fell to his knees as he watched Reyana fade from his sight. He had failed her, lost her to his twin. Everything that happened around him was but a whisper as the others went about cleaning up the mess the Shade had left behind. King Mythos a Mythion, Reyana’s brother, shouted out orders making arraignments to detain the Tainted Fae. Control of the Kingdom of Light had been regained, but she had been lost. How could he even tell Star? Her daughter was struggling to adjust to this life as it was.
“Marcus?” He felt Grifyn’s hand on his shoulder. “Marcus, we need to fall back to the Sanctuary. We need Byryn. The Shade cannot take the unawakened or the Fae into the realm of Darkness. Even as Gray it will take time to shift her enough to take her through to that domain. Byryn will know where we should begin our search.”
“I can’t lose her again, Grifyn.” Marcus shook his head.
“You won’t Marcus, but we need you. We will need your connection to find her.” Grifyn shook him slightly. “We need to take the Gray with us to the Sanctuary in the least.”
Marcus just stayed there. He couldn’t shake the pain in his chest. He had waited a hundred years to have her by his side only to lose her to the very Darkness that had taken from him to begin with. His blooded twin held her in his grasp as he had a century before and he knew if she needed to she would again take her own life to protect them all. She was lost.
Mythos stormed over to him. “Get up, Marcus. Now.” He commanded. When he didn’t move Mythos shoved him throwing him nearly across the room. Everyone froze. “Get. Up.”
Marcus stared at him in disbelief. They may have had their differences but the Fae had never once struck him.
“I said, get up.” Mythos demanded. “You do not get to do this again. She is my sister and this time she is alive. Get up off your ass and pull yourself together.”
“If you were not my King, Mythos…” Marcus gritted as he jumped to his feet and into the King’s face.
“You would what, hit me? Then do so.” Mythos spat as he grabbed him by the throat shaking him. “I am not your King right now. Right now I am the blooded brother of your bonded mate and I am telling you to pull it together and help me get her back!” It shook Marcus to his core which was what he needed. He met Mythos in the eyes and nodded. Mythos clasped him firmly on the shoulder. “You cannot give up hope Marcus, you cannot break down because then she is truly lost. She is tied to you. You have to fight the waves of Darkness and send her as much as Light possible to help her hold on to herself. We will help you get her back, but you need to fight Marcus.”
He held the King’s gaze as he spoke, “Grifyn.”
“Yes Praetor.” Grifyn came to his side.
“Choose two Gray to accompany us but leave three here. We need to be sure the Council is not infiltrated again in our absence. The Fae of Light will come with us. Make it quick, we leave in ten for the armory to get supplies. They will need travel packs, the cottage isn’t large enough.”
“Yes sir.” Grifyn bowed running off the make the arraignments.
“Thank you Mythos.”
“You are welcome. Now, let us go get her back.” Mythos nodded.
Marcus held all the love her felt for her in his heart and sent it through their connection. He would find a way to reach her. He would get her back. There was no other option.
Cymeryn held her to him as they formed in his quarters. He nuzzled into the auburn waves of her hair inhaling deeply. He could feel his essence burrowing through her veins and though she fought it there was a part of her that welcomed it, reveled in it as he did. How delightful it would be to taste her, to revel in her flesh. He should reach out to the Dark Lord, but he would taste her, claim her first.
He spun her to him, taking hold of her by her hair. “I have waited so long for this Reyn. I am going to make you beg.”

About the Author
Who is Jaime Marks? She’s a work in progress. She’s been an insurance agent, an optician, a store manager, and a child care counselor. She’s a mother and a wife, an artist and a writer. She’s a survivor. She was born a Jersey girl but has lived in Pennsylvania most of her life. She has a Bachelor’s of Arts and enjoys reading and ceramic sculpture; but how do you really define who someone is?
The truth is that I’m on a journey to rediscover who I really am. Life is too short to trap yourself into a stereotype and sometimes you need to branch out and ask that important question…Who am I? When you do you might find that you discover there’s an entirely new story to who you are that you have yet to walk or write it.
I spent the last few years struggling with a mystery illness that ended up being a very hard to diagnose case Hyperparathyroidism and when I woke up on the other side of surgery to remove the tumor that caused it that was the question. Who am I now? Where do I start to put the pieces of my life back together?
I spent a lot of time idle while I was sick and rediscovered my love of reading since I had more than enough time to do so. At some point I got bored just reading and a friend reminded me that I used to write all the time. So when I found myself sitting there one day lost in thought with these characters emerging and all the time in the world I decided why not? No one will ever read it and at least it will give me something to do. By the time I came up for air I was on book three of Mists of the Fae.
If there is one piece of advice I can give anyone, it’s to follow your heart and do the things you really want to do even if it’s just for you. I’m publishing this book mainly because it’s always been a goal of mine to be published. I hope people read it and love it like I do, but if they don’t that’s fine. This is for me. This is a goal I’ve had since I was twelve and at age thirty-five I’m watching it come to fruition. I hope you all enjoy this series and if you want to know more feel free to like my page and follow me at:
