She was startled when she bumped into a tall, broad man. “I’m so sorry,” she uttered. Quickly, she backed away and looked down. Fear gripped her. If she did that to Brian, he lashed out at her.

Alex smiled. He had watched the blonde come down the hall and hoped she would say something to him. “It’s no big deal. You look lost. Maybe I can help.”

“Um—I’m, I’m looking for room 216,” she stammered, unable to meet his eyes.

He could see that her hand shook. “Hey.” He lifted her chin. “You OK?”

She pulled back fast. “I’m fine. Do you know where 216 is?”

“I should. That’s next to my room.” He put out his hand. “I’m Alex Hicks. You?”

Quickly, she looked around for Brian. He was nowhere to be found. “Um, Danielle Brooks.” She gingerly took his hand. That caused a weird feeling deep inside her, like butterflies. She looked up and smiled. He was very handsome and tall. That started a reaction she did not recognize right away. “I didn’t know the girls and guys were on the same floor.”

“We share the same bathrooms, too.” His grin was infectious. “I know. I think it’s weird, too.” Then he turned around. “Come on. I’ll show you your room.” They walked to the end of the hall. Her room was the second from the last on the left. “Anytime you need something just knock. Day or night.”

He touched her shoulder and was shocked when she jumped back. Then she turned around and back, looking for something. He subtly let his eyes roam over her as they just stood there, inches from each other. He had a thing for short girls, and she seemed to be only five feet tall.

She wasn’t thin like most girls at the school. She had what he admired in several actresses and female singers, a proportionate body. Her breasts looked like good handfuls, as did her butt. He could imagine it in his hands as she rode him, hard. He loved that. She was pretty and obviously didn’t know it. Her blonde hair was partly up in a bun, with loose strands hanging all around. So sexy. He smiled as he imagined her red, full lips on him.

Besides the physical attraction, she took his breath away for some reason. He had never had a reaction to a girl like that before. He was the school playboy. A different girl every week, many times several a week. However, he knew right then he could give it all up if he could fuck her every day. She didn’t seem like the type of girl to just give it up like the others.

Danielle nervously looked for Brian again. She wanted Alex to leave. Yet, she also didn’t. He was the sexiest man she had ever met. He towered over her at about six foot two. His strong, muscled arms drew her even more. She could see a hint of a tattoo on both his biceps. He made her feel small, but safe, somehow.

His large build didn’t mask his sweet nature, though. His deep voice was not like Brian’s. It was warm and almost seductive. She looked up when he touched her trembling hand. To avoid his gaze, she focused on his wavy, light brown, shoulder length hair. It made her want to put her fingers through it.

For just a few seconds, he saw her eyes. They blew him away. There were a beautiful light green, with a bit of yellow. The pain in them captured his heart. They practically screamed for him to ease it. He hoped it was sexual frustration.

“Did you find it?” Brian’s voice came from down the hallway.

Danielle jumped. “Yes,” she shouted to him and pulled away from Alex again. “Please don’t touch me.”

“I’m sorry.” Alex looked up at the voice, and then at her. She had fear in her eyes again. “Brother or boyfriend?”

  “Boyfriend,” she replied.

He leaned toward her. “That’s too bad. I was just beginning to like you.” He rolled his eyes. Just my luck, she’s taken.

The situation had become hard for Danielle to handle. If Brian knew Alex practically hit on her, he would be livid. Never mind if he sensed her attraction to Alex. Alex was everything Brian wasn’t. Moreover, what his touch did to her confused her. She never had that reaction to Brian or anyone for that matter. Desire was something she had not experienced unless stimulated physically. That was rare, though.

“Hi,” Brian said to Alex when he reached them. “I’m Brian Foster, her boyfriend. Who are you?” He extended his hand, although he wanted to bash the guy’s face in for being so close to Danielle. In public, he always kept control, so no one would know the real him.

Alex took his hand. “Alex Hicks. You starting here, too?”

“No.” Brian kept his cool and put an arm around Danielle’s shoulders.

Alex gave him a once-over. There had to be a reason Danielle feared him. Brian was only about 5’ 8” and thin, and he couldn’t be too strong. Nevertheless, something in his eyes sparked suspicion. Brian hid something. Something sinister. One look at Danielle beside them, and he knew he was right. She quivered as if she expected to be reprimanded. He’s a fucking bully. I hate bullies!

“Do you need help with her bags?” Alex wanted to stick close to see if Brian would drop his guard.

“Uh…” Brian knew Alex was someone to worry about from the way he looked at his girl. Nevertheless, he had promised he would start to give her the benefit of the doubt. “Yeah, I do. Thanks.”

In a bit of shock at Brian’s acceptance of help, Danielle walked into her dorm room. Half of it was nicely decorated already. She smiled at her roommate, who sat on her bed. The young woman with long curly light brown hair and a bright smile was a welcome sight.

“Hi, I’m Marie Parker from Atlanta. Where are you from?” she asked cheerily, with a southern drawl.

“Just outside of Fort Lauderdale.” She put her bag on the unclaimed bed. “I’m Danielle Brooks.”

Marie got up and opened an accordion door with wooden slats. “There’s almost a half a closet to use. Sorry. I have a lot of things.”

“Don’t worry. I don’t have much.” Brian tore her clothes at times, so her wardrobe was limited. Danielle opened her bag and unpacked her toiletries. “Can I use this dresser?”

“Yep.” Marie watched her carefully arrange things in a strange, but particular, order. She assumed Danielle had OCD. “Did you come here alone?”

Danielle lined up the last bottle of hand cream. “No. My boyfriend and Alex from next door are getting my things.”

“Mmmm, Alex. Nice,” Marie muttered quietly.

Marie knew that most girls wanted Alex. He had slept with every girl on the floor but her. She heard it was because one of his buddies had a thing for her, and he had promised to let her be.

By the time Alex and Brian were back, Marie and Danielle were laughing. Marie was a sophomore and had told her stories about her last year at the school. One look from Brian, and Danielle fell silent. Alex and Marie looked at her, and then Brian, before they looked at each other. They knew something wasn’t right.

Alex looked at Danielle again and smiled. “You want some help putting things away?”

She really liked his smile and did the same. “I—”

Brian cut her off quickly. “No. I got it.” He had glared at Alex for a second before he realized he did it. Jealousy was second nature to him. “Sorry, Alex, but I wanna spend as much time with her as I can.”

Alex noticed Danielle glance at him. That made him happy. He didn’t like Brian and had a funny feeling about him. The terrified look in her eyes worried him. He tried to think of an excuse to stay. Nothing came to mind.

“If you need anything, let me know.” Alex quietly left the room. He hoped he was wrong.

Marie stood in front of her bed. “I’m Marie.” She put her hand out.

“Brian.” He took her hand and looked at her skeptically. Already, he didn’t trust her. He regretted his decision to let Danielle stay at school. There were too many temptations; too many other influences.

“You guys want me to take you on a tour of the campus?” Marie offered. She could tell by the way Brian talked that he was controlling. She was a psychology major and knew the signs. That meant Danielle wasn’t the one who had OCD. It was Brian. There was s
omething else as well, but she couldn’t pinpoint it.

Danielle smiled. “Could we, Brian? Please?”

“Fine.” He sensed Marie watching his every move. He didn’t want her to discover their secrets. When they were out of earshot, outside, he grabbed Danielle’s arm. “Don’t you dare make me look bad,” he growled quietly. “Got it?”

She shuddered. The old him was just beneath the surface. “Got it.”

  * * *

When they returned to the dorms, Marie was slightly impressed with Brian. He had taken them both to dinner and seemed to know a bunch of students and a couple of professors on campus. Nothing he did showed what was beneath his surface. His eyes told Marie he was not what he seemed, but nothing more.

“Pack a bag,” Brian told Danielle. “I’m staying nearby for the week.”

She turned to him. “I thought you had to prepare for your trip.”

“I’ll do it the day before.” He needed to show her he was worth waiting for and had really changed for the better. The walk had cleared his head. It also made him realize he couldn’t control Danielle’s environment any longer. “I’ll be gone for months. I wanna spend some time with you before I go. Bring that dress, so we can go dancing.”

“Where are you going?” Marie was curious.

Brian looked up at her. “Russia, for a few months.”

“Can I go to the bathroom?” Danielle whispered.

Brian saw that Marie had heard her. Sweetly, he told her, “You don’t have to ask. Just go.” He smiled at Marie and hoped she left it alone.

Danielle left the room quickly. She didn’t want to know why he said it like that. As soon as she turned to where she thought the restroom was, she saw him. Alex talked to another student a few doors away. He looked up and gave her a wide smile. She couldn’t help but smile back. However, she then turned away, terrified. I have to stay away from him.

  Chapter One

It was Christmas break. My best friend Chad and I had been home for a few days. We were both seniors at Southwest New Jersey University, just outside our hometown. I loved going to the same school as him, but I missed living right next door to him more than I thought I would.

Still in bed, I was naked under the blanket. I wasn’t a morning person, so I never got right up when my alarm went off. It was even harder on cold winter mornings.

I sighed, remembering the awesome dream I’d had right before awakening. Chad and another guy from school were in my bed with me. I often dreamed of them both, but separately. They’d never been together with me before. They were both in my pussy at the same time and had me screaming in ecstasy for what seemed like hours. I wondered if I would ever be with either of them, let alone both, or if it would be that good.

I shook the dream away and turned onto my belly. Gazing out the window next to my bed, I could see Chad’s bedroom in the house next door, but no Chad. I loved watching him. I hadn’t seen him naked, but I was sure one day I would.

He was in love with me. If he knew I watched him, it would make his day. However, I only had sexual feelings toward him, which I hid as much as I could. We had made out in the past, but we hadn’t gone much further.

I got out of bed and put on my silk robe. A shower usually helped quell my arousal. I couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like for one of the men of my dreams to be washing me. I closed my eyes and imagined Chad’s soapy hands running over my breasts and down my belly toward…

  “Stop that!” I scolded myself.

We had been trying to make it in the music world for five years, but we had never found the right people to connect with. Chad promised me he had found two brothers who would really mesh with us, though.

As I dressed, I wondered what the newest drummer and singer would look like. They were most likely geeks from Chad’s computer classes. That was his major. Mine was music. We had put together three other bands before, but most of the time Chad’s impatient nature and need to control things got in the way.

I checked myself in the mirror. I had jeans on because Chad’s garage would be cold. But I still wore a low cut blouse that revealed ample cleavage. Chad would love it. Then again, he would love me in a sweatshirt.

I tried to have an open mind, but we had wasted a lot of time trying to find the right bandmates. When I got over to Chad’s, his garage was open. There was another van in the driveway, parked next to the one he had driven since high school. I took a deep breath and went right to him.

The brothers had their back to me. They were pulling drums out of the van. One had short hair and the other long. Chad kissed my cheek and whispered that he loved me. Then the guy with long hair turned around.

My mouth dropped, and I stared at him. I couldn’t believe it was “him.” The man of my dreams. Or more accurately, the classmate I only dreamt of because I was afraid to speak to him. That was a first for me. Normally, I feared nothing, at least where men were concerned.

He held my gaze and gave me an amazing smile. Then he shyly said, “Hi, I’m Giovanni Saracino.”

I felt like I was going to pass out. I smiled back, but I couldn’t talk. No guy had ever made me react that way. He stripped me of all of my thoughts with just a look. I failed a test once because he looked at me in class.

“You’re Crystal Atkinson, right?” Giovanni asked.

I nodded as I gaped at him.

Chad moved between us. He and I were very close. I knew he was upset that I was attracted to his friend. He was six feet, four inches tall—a foot taller than me.

“Baby, please don’t look at him that way,” Chad softly said as he took my hands.

It made me feel good when he called me “baby.” I looked up into his light blue eyes. They usually sparkled when he looked at me, but not at that moment. I started to feel bad.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered. “I’m not trying to hurt you.” I reached up and ran my hand through his long, light blond hair.

He bent down and closed his eyes. I knew he loved when I did that to him. I always smiled when I made him feel good. Sometimes, that look on his face made me want to kiss him, but I wouldn’t in front of Giovanni.

I pushed away the feeling and touched his cheek. “Chad, you know I won’t go after him. I’m not like that.” Most of his friends were off limits. He rarely let me meet the handsome ones.

His eyes opened. “I know, baby girl. I can’t help how I feel.”

“Neither can I,” I admitted, and then I kissed his cheek.

  “I love you.”

“I know, but he’s the guy I told you about,” I quietly admitted.

He sighed. “The one from your electronic music class?”

“Yeah.” I felt bad, but I had to tell Chad. I told him everything.

He took a deep breath. “Don’t pick up any equipment, got it?” Then he walked toward the van. He hated me helping out because he liked my well-manicured nails. I had painted them blue that week. It was his favorite color.

As I watched them, I noticed Giovanni’s look contrasted completely with Chad’s. He had dark, almost black, hair down past his shoulder blades. It seemed to bounce when he walked. He also had dark brown eyes accented by unusually long eyelashes. I could see that his body was built up. I couldn’t wait for him to take his coat off so I could admire it.

Chad was several inches taller than Giovanni but not as muscular. However, Chad wasn’t thin, either. He was strong and fit. I always thought Chad was built like a god. And I liked that Chad wasn’t shy about wearing an earring in both ears. That made him even more handsome to me.

Giovanni and his brother Rosario looked a lot alike, but Rosario had very short hair, was a little taller and a year older. The hoop earring Giovanni wore was sexy. Rosario had his tongue pierced, but nothing else (that I c
ould see, at least.) I had heard that tongue piercings could make a girl feel real good, but Rosario was much too skinny for me.

When Giovanni was out of earshot, I heard Rosario say to Chad, “Damn, she’s hot! Is she your girlfriend?”

“Well, that depends on what you mean by ‘girlfriend,’ ” Chad replied.

While Giovanni set up his drum set, Chad and I adjusted the amplifiers and tuned our guitars. We then started out with an old rock song we all knew.

Giovanni was an impressive drummer. He got into it and could easily restart a song at any point if someone screwed up, which happened a lot that day. I noticed that he smiled at me every time I looked at him. I did my best not to let it affect my bass playing.

We decided to play heavy metal music because that was the genre we all liked. Rosario’s singing voice was OK, but he was much better at screaming and growling lyrics instead, so it worked out perfectly.

The biggest accomplishment of the day was deciding on a name for the band. Chad came up with the name “Triple Threat.” He said that with three guys and me, I ran the risk of all three of them wanting to have sex with me at once.

By dinnertime, we were able to play one whole song successfully. But we had learned to work with each other and found that we had the same musical goals. It was a very good start overall.

  * * *

After we had dinner with his family, Chad pulled me up to his room. We had lived next door to each other for 14 years by then. I was almost as close to his parents as my own. His brothers were another story, though. They drove us crazy.

Once we were in the upstairs hallway, Chad’s brother, Will, who was 23 and in graduate school, came out of his room and followed us. When we stepped into Chad’s room, Will came up close to me.

“Hey, Crystal.” He leaned down and whispered, “Still hanging with this loser?”
