  Nightmare

Old Nathan Fox, a famed playwright who had retired from the theater, was awakened one night by a horrible apparition that had pursued him regularly in dreams, but never before so horribly and graphic. The monster stalking Nathan was enraged that he escaped time after time, by waking up. The creature vowed one day he would cross over the divide between sleep and consciousness, to kill Nathan by eating his flesh.

Nathan woke up shuddering. He was going to spend another sleepless night, wondering how he could rid himself of the hellish nightmares.

Nathan that night came up with a plan to rid himself of the nightmares of the creature trying to kill him. He would write a play about the fiend. He felt if he could give it an audience, he would never have to worry again about the terrifying creature again. As Nathan sat at his wooden roll top desk he began writing. He thought, "I pray that this works."

Three days later, he went to the theater on Sunset boulevard, that made him famous.

"Violence, Chaney, violence. That's what our audience wants to see!"

Nathan directed the young actors as they practiced.

"Right! No problem, Mr Fox!" the lead actor responds. But he thought to himself "It's true, Fox is crazy."

"You call that a scream? Scream as loud as you can remember the creature is going to eat you!"

"Yes Sir!" the young actresses replies.

Soon the play was ready for the public. The mysterious aura of the play, the secret rehearsals and the fame of Nathan Fox sold out the event opening night.

The line in front of the theater was packed.

"I wonder what all the mystery is about?" a lady asked her husband standing in line. The lights dimmed slowly, the curtain raised and the show began. A hush fell over the sellout crowd. While Nathan’s nightmare came to life. Craig, the guy playing the Demon, had on a red devils costume, the kind people wear on Halloween. The lead actresses shrieked as the costumed demon approached her, just like they had rehearsed. But once the demon got close the twenty year old woman's face turned to a look of horror.

She could tell the thing before her was not wearing a costume - it was real.

"Craig, that was great. What a magnificent performance, and the costume, it almost looks real. " Nathan thought to himself, standing behind

A curtain of the theaters stage.

The demonic figure then swiped at the young woman's neck. Blood began flowing down her neck onto her light blue dress.

"That's not part of the act, we don't have any fake blood!" Nathan told one of the stage hands. The crowd loved the performance, they clapped and cheered as the curtain fell ending the act.

"Craig I need to speak with you!" Nathan yells out to Craig as he runs to the other side of the stage. The young actress lay on the stage floor bleeding to death.

"This girl has been cut. She's bleeding to death! Someone call paramedics fast!"

There was a lot of commotion on the stage while people rushed to get help for the bleeding lady. NNathan followed Craig into the theaters dressing rooms.

"It..It. Can't be! That monster, that devil was a real creature of my mind that has come to life! But that's impossible!"

Nathan stands in Crag's dressing room, trying to figure out what he just witnessed. And then, out of nowhere the demon appears and grabs Nathan by his throat.

"You gave me life Nathan Fox, and now it’s time to keep my promise!" The other stage hands and play personnel could hear Nathan screaming, but by the time they got him it was too late.

"What In The World would do this?" The stage hand yelled out, after viewing what remained of Nathans eaten flesh.

"It looks like something, out of someone’s nightmare!" another stage hand observed.
