“You have to go tell Tom and Cassie to come in,” Julia said tearfully, cradling her newborn son.

“I’ll go get them,” one of the nurses said before leaving.

“Do you still hate me for getting you pregnant?”

  “Not as much.”

Laughing, Vic kissed her head. “Life couldn’t be more perfect. I have everything I could possibly want right here, right now.” When the doors opened and he heard the familiar sound of his goddaughter, Vic looked over with a smile wide on his face. “Bethy girl, come meet your new cousin. I have a son, Tom.” Vic beamed.

“That you do, and a fine young man he is. Look, Beth. It’s a baby.”

“Baby,” the toddler giggled, reaching her hand out to the infant in Julia’s arms.

“Come on, sweetie.” Scooping Beth from Tom, Vic sat with her on his lap beside Julia and his son, on the bed. When Beth leaned down and kissed Justin’s tiny head, everyone sighed. “Now this is perfect.”

“Yes,” Julia said, looking up at her husband. “It most definitely is.”

“You look exhausted, Julia. I remember how that feels.” Cassie smiled, looking down at the tiny baby sleeping soundly on his mother’s chest.

“And just think, in six months you’ll be here with your new baby.”

Cassie stroked her still flat belly, smiling. “I can’t wait.”

“I think we should time this so all of our kids are close in age. We could start trying to get pregnant again in about six months, that way by the time the next one arrives, he or she

  will be—”

“If you ever want to have sex with me again, Victor Davis, you’ll shut your trap now.”

“Yes, dear.” He grinned, kissing the top of her head. “I was just saying—”

  “Shut up, Vic.”

Laughing, he leaned down and placed his cheek on her hair. “I love you, Julia.”

“Yeah, yeah, I love you, too.”
